Blisted for saying you do not like cats? Wow people need to chill out... And no I was not offended, as far as I am concerned this is a good natured debate. I see a huge viible diffrence between what is on American TV before Japanimation as you want to call it hit the shores, and after. Drawing style being the most obviuse diffrence. But the continual flowing story line, how every episode leads into the next one is so diffrent from what the average American cartoon is, to say nothing for the fact that it is also for a mature audience (some shows) has put them in two categories. They are both animated yea, cartoons if you will but I see them as totaly diffrent nonetheless.
 
If you'd've asked me a few years ago, I might agree with you on the fact that anime =! cartoons. But after seeing crap like Pokemon (Japanese) and Totally Spies (I believe this is American), I see it differently now. :/
 
You think that is bad Lavi? Remeber when he stabs the blade through his hand to do a blood oath thing. Am going to LOVE seeing how they portray that. It made me cringe the first time through, you know that is just not going to be there.
 
Ah, for some reason, I just thought of a really odd fact I remember reading a while back. The art of anime is based on Disney Animation. D: Not sure how valid that is, but it actually sounds fairly accurate. Perhaps it was vice-versa, but I honestly can't think of any anime-style art that is older than Disney. o.O

and how do you know they won't leave it be? They might lessen the blood a bit but hell.. they kept Vicious cutting the elder's eyes in and saying "You will shed tears of scarlet" and then blood squirting. Don't make assumptions so quickly yet. Wait until it happens. And don't judge ONE episode where the voices might not be perfect as saying it'll all suck. I've noticed that 99% of the time.. all voices start off a bit rough in the beginning because they are doing just that.. just now getting into the character's style. Give it a few episodes.. maybe even 10 more for a show like this.. and we'll see how it goes. Seriously though.. if you watch Armitage III movie compared to the OAV.. you see the difference in how voice actors are. One (Keith Sutherland?) in the movie sucks ass cause lack of emotion and the other (don't know his name) started off rough in the first episode but picked up on it throughout the OAV.

Maybe if you go old old school like AStro boy or Speed Racer... They had to learn to draw from SOMEWHERE. Honestly I can not see any Disney movies that I see as an "Anime" drawing style. Maybe someone more well versed in Disney movies/cartoons could do a comparison.

And yes... Pokemon and the rest REALY are stupid but hey they are meant for lil kids and even they had stuff edited out of them. IE In Yu-gi-oh the main charachter has a split personality and goes around killing people at night. They of course leave THAT part out.
 
El... What is up with those pic files... they make my eyes hurt staring at them, please please please do not say those show all anime looking the same, anime by the same artist has a distinct style but most artwork by a artist has a distinct style.
 
Actually, I think the Disney movies they based off of was like Snow White or something. Someone found the big eyes to be cute. I dunno. XD

Anyway, you guys have fun debating. I rarely read this forum.

It was one of the first Manga artists, and yes, he took the big eyes idea from Disney.

HA astro boy called it!!! Well I'll be damned... they started off from the same ancestor but evolved... Kinda like Chimps and Humans... Or all humans for that matter.
 
it was really nothing :D just me posting randomness of Anime looking alike (which... a lot of it really does). Anyways.. I think I've proven my point on the subs/dubs issue.
 
Kinda weird debate, but everyone's point is prooven mute, by the fact that people who have seen a majority of the series have become accustemed to hearing the same voices and can judge whether they fit with the personality of the character as the story progresses.

Having seen about half of the series thusfar (1-75) and hearing the voice actor for Naruto in the newly dubbed episode, I question how believable she will be in the next season (if it even airs that long, and a season being 26 episodes).

Even my opinion is biased though since I have seen the episodes non-dubbed and therefor have an attatchment to those voices.

But having someone who has never seen the non-dubbed episodes anounce that is doesn't matter if they changed things, and telling people they are stupid for holding a strong preference towards the originals, is unnacceptable.

Before making stupid declarations like you know what you are talking about, take a few days to watch the originals and make a real comparison like all the "fan boys" are doing.

P.S.: I rather enjoy the dubbed episode I saw, but like I said, I still hold my bias toward the originals. ^^
 
go reread what I've said.. I'VE SEEN NARUTO SUBBED!!! I've seen up to near 100 in the episode marks. I, personally, find the voice actor not that bad for the first two episodes and believe it will only improve over time as the voice actor gets more feeling for the character.. it's the same in the Japanese versions. Most of the animes I've watched in Japanese with subs the first episode doesn't always portray emotion well and get the feel for the character but certainly by the end of the series they have it down to a T (assuming they keep the same voice actor, which, I think all have). I've seen a lot of anime subbed before dubbed because I download it, friends give it to me, or at Anime Club at my school. Then I go and watch the dubs and have really no problem unless they do butcher it to insanity (pooor One Piece :\)
 
Personally I thought they did a pretty good job on the dub. No dopplegangers =D. My g/f thought different though.. she couldn't stand Naruto's voice... or sakura's voice. I couldn't stand Sakura's either ><. Over all they did a good job though. For those of you who don't have CN google "mininova" for a torrent.

Naruto turned out so-so i guess, it was a lot better when Naruto was calm, they kinda overdid the sexy gitsu or w/e thing, how the fck did whoever naruto was performing it on go flying across the field?

At least they didn't make it like they did dragonballz, what i mean by that is:

Someone standing up straight.
Face is being drowned by a huge raindrop.
Falls over, on his head, with his feet springing up.
Camera changes.
Guy is standing up perfectly fine, nothing wrong.

They didn't overdo the drama like they did Inyuyasha either:

"That crystal in his back supports all of his life..."
10 seconds later
"If he takes it out..."
30 seconds later
"He will die!" -I mouthed it there.

Overall Naruto was a good show, didn't turn out like LUFII! GET DOWN!
good action, the only thing i didnt like about it was all these people transforming into one another, it makes ur brain hurt really ; ; :cry:
