/raises hand. Straight up kirin 4tw.

Not trying to offend, but isn't it true that you straight up tank Kirin because you take sooooooo long to kill it that it eventually runs out of MP? i could be mistaken but what I was told. If so don't really see that as a thing to brag about...

And with straight tanking, I see BLM as underpowered for Kirin with his HUGE HUGE HUGE resistance. i wouldn't stick a single BLM in the Kirin alliance and just spam him with SATA WS.

The most profitable BCNM fight involves 2 Ninjas. I've yet to even see an alternative setup that can even win it. It's more profiable than KS30, and just as you can't use KS fights to BS fights, you can't use BS seals for KS fights.

(BS seals are much more common.)

And forget skillchaining kirin. You spend so much time waiting for the opportunity, that you are wasting time you could be spamming nukes and weapon skills on it. You wind up killing Kirin slower. The only reasoning I could see behind it is a huge abundance of WHMs and a poor setup of DDs, to make them unable to deal good damage by just spamming. And no that includes melees, who have a good weapon for the job and thf SJ, and MNK/WHM with all their MND gear.

Not to be snobby, but I have talked to other LS before and they tell me how their kirins take hours, and they need like 35+ people.

I've taken down Kirin with like 20, post RNG nerf in maybe 2 hours. And with 28 people done it in like an hour.

Just to try and explain the effectiveness of just spamming on it. IF SC and MBs are better, I'd do them. It doesn't mean just because I chose not to it's hard, just not reliable.
I'm curious what BCNM that is, if it's the PCC bcnm, it doesn't require 2 ninjas at all. As for MB's on kirin, I wasn't aware that linkshells did it any other way after the rng nerf. I know in rawr, we have 25-30 people and we've managed to kill him in about 75 minutes or so from pop to death. The blm are still casting spells on Kirin, but they save enough mp for a sc to come in. The strategy has worked really well, the only difference is we let more people participate in the fight than only a ton of black mages.

That was months and months ago lol. Decent SC and MBs can take off up to 10% of kirins HP. We could kill him alot faster...honestly I havent been there lately...guess the SCs are messy. Prolly could kill him faster kiting, maybe not. But straight tanking is hella fun. Stonega4 isnt very strong with 20-30 ppl taking it.

I'm not going to explain our Kirin strategy, but almost everyone gets into the alliance, and there's rarely more than 5 in at a time. It sounds to me like your strategies are based on keeping a core 18 in for the fight and not account people can gain TP and rest MP on the outside. Sluggish, inefficient.

under ob bcnm is best with 2 nins and a rdm or bst or smn

ill have to interject on this again....
when we sc kirin, we can typically do a sc once every round of the room. at the most 2 rounds of the room. most people either come with sam sub or with opo opo necklace. usually takes us around an hour to an hour and 15 mins.last run was about an hour if i remember correctly.

it really isnt as hard as you think to sc on kirin. we setup sc every run we do on kirin. it goes alot smoother than you believe it does

it may be innefficient but it sounds like it works better than the way you do it. im just guessing from what you are stating in previous posts. its common sense that a sc with mb and random mp use will do more dmg than just having blm nuke throughout the whole fight. but hey, thats just my opinion

And how many people are involved in those kirin fights typically? You have to understand we do 25-30 man kirins usually and that's around our time.

Yes, inefficient, that's why we kill him at pre-nerf rates.

As MO said, people bring samurai sub or sleep for tp then come in for their sc. We don't need a shitload of blm's to swap in and out, the handful we have now are doing just fine. When people run low on mp, they disband to let someone with full mp in, that's what it sounds like you do, so where's the sluggishness and inefficiency?

to clarify understaffed....its usually a full alliance (18-24)

You look at it from the perspective of using TP and MP wisely. I look at it from the perspective of using 18 party slots wisely when there are other people outside with full MP, TP or boosts built up for chi blast. The amount of damage increase you see, coupled with ineffeciency of SC and MB on a kited mob, and spare people not utlized is why I feel it slows you down.

if my numbers are off, you have to forgive me, i usually dont count. but i would guess 22-24 is a typical number

but we do that as well. therefore, this type of strategy will still overpower yours

Considering that like you, I didn't explain the full strategy for fighting kirin, just the aspect concerning our skillchaining; your analysis of our strategy isn't complete and your judgements are flawed because of that. The fact that we're killing kirin at about the same rate that you are, our strategy is obviously effective.

When people are waiting to use TP, waiting to use MP, waiting for the mob to be positioned correctly and waiting for the mob to use an ability allowing for them to move in, then it is sluggish an inefficient. You'll get more nukes off and more WS off with a rapid swapping of people.

If you have so few like in Masterorion's case, then yes it makes sense. If there's no one to swap out there's nothing lost by waiting to have it times best.

When however there ARE people who could come in it's different. And it fails to become a question of what job you are, everyone damage dealer is then useful.

to help understand our strat, ill fill you in on what i notice...
monks will usually stay out of alliance..use chi blast and tp
in fact, all melee will get tp and will get swapped in and out as they get tp. they will sc when they enter and get out. then next group will come in and do the same. we have a good amount of people taht come with sam main or sam sub. so waiting for tp isnt long of a wait. its a constant process. there is nothing slowing it down period. we usually have 2 summoners come every run. (if not more) they usually use diabolos.

I don't really understand, you just said you typically have 18-24. You can't compare because with those numbers you are forced to used TP and MP more wisely. It's not overpowering it's just, the most effective for your situation.

lol guys, everyone can and does do kirin differently...jobs, skill level of the players, how many people, etc etc...

your failing to see that there is no waiting. with sam main or sub for all melee, the time is miniscule.with 3 sets of sc members, you use the first group, the mb is done, on the next full circle, the next group is ready, they go and mb on that. swap to third group, they go and mb, next round or two max, the first group is ready to go again. in between waiting for tp (if there is any waiting) blm are free to do your tactics by using magic.
