Nerf Treasure Hunter!!

- they said it's too strong, especially in manaburns. they want to give BLMs more incentive to join diverse parties, but didn't give details.
- there will be new spells.

Yes, I know that these two lines are what have provoked the ire of everyone.
The thing is, most of the people that are arguing dont care about the xp aspect of it. They are complaining about the DM and the ks30, neither of which affect them.

As has been said earlier, many times, because there's no end game strategy of "throw more monks/warriors at it." For the last time, exp is NOT the reason they're making this change. Seriously, learn to fucking read and make a plausable argument.

Than why? Everyone always comes back to Scorps and DM. People keep saying the whole throw more Blms at it thing, but when pressed on real examples outside of Scorps and DM, they can't come up with any. Hell, there were several pages in this thread about how people had several different ways of doing Kirin.

i know that....but im not arguing over the ks30. granted, its little skill involved and all that jazz, but i dont care nonetheless how people win it. ive also made general statements about the people that are upset, "whining" if you will. it would be safe to say that they are the ones that would be effected by it. but whining and moaning about it isnt going to stop the update. so, some people need to just get over it and embrace the dick in the ass they are about to get

touche, the two posts you have so far is totally stupid aswell. think logically. name logical reasons why they shouldnt nerf blm. other than, "it will make it harder". once you have done that to why they should. problem is, you wont name any reasons why they should.
also, like i said before, every job has had a nerf. not only that, but there will be nerfs for all of them in the future...i can guarantee it. so before all of you go off and say "why single blm out", just remember, they will end up going for the others as well. again, as i said before, i forseee smn coming next.
do i agree with nerfs? to an extent i do. it would be nice if they just left shit alone and just tweak the jobs instead of destroying them. but, its not our call.

also, i would like to mention that it isnt just the players that we come in contact with every day on here or in game, but GMs also play on their spare time. have you ever thought about them being some of the input?

Well first of all, I say anything in this thread about the nerf itself, except for what i thought they were gonna do. I am not bitching about how this patch is horribly retarded and all that bullshit. I am concerned that they could fuck up my job, but I'm still waiting until I see what happens.

sorry, ass raping prison sex isnt for me.

from speculation, its aimed at groups that are full of blm. IE: 5/6 man blm party with maybe one brd. thats just a half educated guess. since i dont know for sure what they are going to do, i cant really call it an educated guess. but its a logical guess. if that is the case and they do that, its could possibly pose problems for alliances with alot of blm. of course, it depends on how they do this nerf. on the other hand, they could just nerf the strength of blm spells all together. this is a viable answer, however it wont end the world for blm.
if we generalize the multiple answers that are given as for the reason of the nerf, its because of large groups of blm teaming up. now. for them to make this nerf effective, they will need to lower dmg from the mass assault. just for shits and giggles, we will say its a 6 man party at ks30. for a team of blm not to win from one spell, they will need to nerf blm only by 100-200 dmg off of the max hp of the mobs. saying 200 is pushing it. but lets just speculate that the max hp of each scorpion is 1200(this is just a round number i chose to make it easy) we will say that there are 6 blm and with all of them combined they equal out to 1200dmg. if they nerf blm to the point that a single party of all blm cant win off of the strongest spell, they will only need to nerf them 100 or more.
im not saying this is what will happen, but the nerf is focused on 6 or more blm going for one goal. they could implement an if/then type of programing for blm so it just goes into effect if there are a certain amount of blm in group?
who knows. we will find out later

I agree with Masterorion that the "nerf" is likely to be pretty specifically targeted. Isn't it already true that if two blm's cast the same spell, the second one that lands does less damage? Perhaps the "nerf" will simply intensify this effect, eliminating the possibility of mass-casting Thundaga III (or whatever is used).

it would be great if they just leave the jobs alone. its said they test all of the nm by fighthing them. problem is it could be with other contingcies like better gear and knowing the mechanics of the mob. plus, if they test the NM with the jobs we have now, nerfing the jobs makes it harder if not impossible due to the nerf. im all for small tweaks on any job, but the "tweak" the did on rng was disaserous. a small tweak on blm wouldnt hurt, but hopefully they learned from past mistakes to not absolutely destroy a job

This is what i am concerned about. Their track record for 'fixing' jobs is not very good. They destroyed drg, rng, and bst. Now they are going after a job who's sole purpose is for damage.

yes, but they are also fixing bst and rng as much as they can in the update. the drg and bst nerfs werent that huge of a nerf. now, they know they will have unhappy people if they destroy any more jobs. as far as the nerfs they have done with besides rng of course, they arent that big of an issue. rng is the only one that causes huge issues still.

Due to how they mention they want DRK using Scythe more than Great Sword, and want WAR to do more than just sub nin and use Axe/whatever, I'd say the two handed weapon system is getting a revamp. Possibly better TP gain or damage equations will be tweaked due to the post 480 delays, so DRG will benefit a bit from it.

I think it's time, yet again in this thread to point out our "TarutaruBLM" LS that we have on our server. All nations Rank 10, all Zilart complete, all CoP complete, Dynamis-Windurst beaten. All of them BLMs. The fact that the entirety of the games story content can be completed by BLM onry is a testiment to the overpowering nature of the job in large groups.

A global nerf wont be neccessary, but I feel something along the lines of a mana drain in the area should take effect when too many BLMs are in a PT. Something along the lines of the Mana in the air getting thin with the overuse of majiks. That would make it both believable and understandable, while remaining within the RP aspect of things.

i would say that is a safe assumption. possibly gain tp for only one of the axes if they are duel wield? too many updates too jobs. i cant wait to see how they pan out. i am particularly interested in the aoe refresh or auto refresh that was mentioned for pld.

Just becasue they are all in the same ls, does that mean that they did all missions together? I dont know anything about this ls, but would u guys make that assumption about me, if i would join a all blm ls?

if all were finished will all cop, ranks, and whatever else. the only thing i would need to know of is that they did one mission together for me to assume that, yes, they manaburned all of it

first off im a ninja and have no interest in playing blm. i think this nerf is bullshit. one of the reasons i like ffxi so much is it's depth, variety, etc. different jobs excell at different things and it makes the game that much more interesting. i guess we'll have to wait and see how bad they hit blm, i hope it isn't much because they are an awesome addition to any PT and i'd be sad to see their numbers dwindle

I dunno dude, now you are making generalizations w/o knowing the full story.

I said this back on...what, page 2?

This wouldnt stop a manaburn pt tho. All it would do is cause a different blm to cast a different elemental spell.

They are RMT, you have probably read threads about them already.

Don't necro it but here's the link:
