New Jobs.

not really, as both of those are feudal era soldiers

I just hate the idea of pirates. If I invite one and they say "yarrrr" ... /kick.

Nah the classic idea of 'piracy' didn't crop up till the mid 1500's.

That was the height of the movement, if you will.

lol BLU 2HR me and my friend decided that the 2hr would go something like this.

Blue Mage 2 Hour:
Osama Strike

Help Text:
Call help from you allies to attack the monster for you.

Effect:
Depending on the nation you are from an airship from your nation will come out of the sky and attack the monster, if multiple monsters have linked an airship will come down and attack each other monster for 5 min.

We kinda thought that was funny due to what happend in the U.S. and the AF the BLU wears

Disclamer:
(no offence ment by this to all of thoughs that may think it was offensive its ment as a joke and is ment to be funny not serious)

I guess the bad part is that i actualy put a disclaimer on this lol ~.^

I just hope you dont have to go through a whole bunch of cap'd nonsense to get any of the new jobs unlocked. Kinda like how you have to do the proms to get to Tavnazia. Sure, its fun doin it I guess......but having your lvl cap'd with almost everything you do now-a-days it gets kinda old.

The biggest problem currently isn't that there aren't enough jobs with refresh, it's that the jobs with refresh aren't as appealing to players as jobs without it.

I know quite a few people who quit RDM at 41, because they enjoyed being front line fighters and doing their jobs at the same time. I too quit RDM (My first job) at 30 because I heard the horror stories of RDM later on, being "refresh whores"

Perhaps SE should make the existing jobs more appealing for people to play? I mean sure everyone is gonna be out on the new jobs experimenting with them and whatnot, but it won't last until the level where refresh is useable by the new job.

I'm thinking they should increase RDM melee abilities. Tweak their stats a little to give them a bit more power in melee combat, to justify them not standing in the back lines. IF it was more acceptable for RDM to actually melee during battle perhaps more people would play it, thus solving some of our current Refresh finding problems.

You'd still stop meleeing once you gained the ability to equip elemental staves since you'd be changing weapons with every spell you cast, along with the fact that any RDM who melees with a staff should be continually poked and laughed at. Then again most melee RDMs I see don't bother casting anything anyway, unless they're asked. Even then they'll cast it once or twice and then forget again, so most melee RDM can't walk and chew bubble gum at the same time.

RDM isn't that horrifying past 41 if you know what you're doing because it will become obvious to people you have a Refresh cycle down. The only annoying aspect of the job for me is getting flooded with /tells every time I'm on it, which is why I'm sometimes curt with people, like in an exchange with Raivyn the other evening. But that was my bad for temp-logging and forgetting to reinsert my usual search comment, which itself goes ignored probably half the time.

does any one know what the requirements to get BLU will be? like job lv. or rank or something like that?

Well, yes. But I'd imagine they wouldn't exactly be used for the SC or anything, and the melee would be conditional on the MP.

For instance say a RDM is meleeing and however unlikely it is he or she is doing their job perfecly while doing so. They're sword strikes are doing almost as much as the PLD's per hit, and he or she is keeping up with the nukes, enfeebs, and refresh cycle. Battle ends, but instead of staying standing like normal melee the RDM forgoes any TP gain he or she might have had and equips their dark staff like normal, and rests up between pulls.

That's how I see it working anyhow.

you know - if they made a job with refresh like abilities that was actually FUN to play people might do it.

Maybe not a refresh/support but a refresh/dd... hmm...

anyhow - regardless of that I think the idea of a time mage could offer many interesting possibilities to the game if they actually built it from thre ground up and didnt just slam the old job into the new game.

how bout they just make rdm have more str and able to use more weapon skill.
they make anouther job with refresh rdm would go the way of the drg

Or it could play out like this, they have some sort of catalyst item they can use similiar to a NIN tools to cast their Ninjitsu, that has a specific element attached to it and able to cast abilities from that element no matter what terrain they're in. Such as like a chunk of ice equipped to ammo slot and they were able to cast Ice based spells in Garlaige or w/e. Anyways if GEO were just based on terrain the job would be odd, so possibly the elemental tool idea, who knows though. I just want SE to give more info on ToAU heh.
Also their shield could only be one element they used to lessen damage, probably an Earth based spell if anything, and since all areas have earth in them, Uleguerand could be snow/earth, Ifrits could be fire/earth, Garlaige is built out of earth, etc.
idea of runes sound expensive and would just become the next rng

agian just fix rdm not create anouther refresh char cause all you would do is kill rdm invite to partys. There are many rdm out there trust me^^ we are just hardly looking for partys because we normally dont need to if anything we need another class like whm or anouther tank class.

oh and I'm sorry but the idea of a Pirate job is so gay that I will seriously consider just quitting. Ruin the medieval motif of the game? No thanks.
Go to norg there are allready pirates in the game..

what about a job that fixed one major mp drain: {cure}? if they made a job that could cure without needing mp, this wouldn't make rdm's job any less important; and would be looked on as a new kind of main healer.

this would be a really good support job too i think...

Depends how it is, catalyst you only need the item on you, and they can make it where it isn't used up. Perhaps have some new quests available that gives it as the reward, and higher ranking runes or w/e you wanna call em that are useful for higher lvl geomagic(not even a word, I know) that requires higher lvl and fame to get as opposed to the lower lvl ones. Also for BLU and other new jobs it'll probably be like all other adv jobs atm, gotta be 30+ and do a quest for it, and I doubt gonna have to be on a certain rank of any mission either. So I doubt it'll be in a CoP area zone, if it's in ToAU area zone I'm sure it'll be available w/o having to get past certain missions, such as RotZ and Norg/Kazham where you only had to get the 3 beastmen chest keys for airship, or it could just be available just by installing the expansion, such as Rabao.

im going guess that it will use the ship coming out of norg. Just look at the ship in the back group look same as the ship in the expasion vid. And my guess is you right about not being part of cop just like zilart was not to the original. Though then again ziliant you had to be lvl 30 and you only need to be lvl 30 to do prom towers. Maybe it can be something to do with cop.

Also remember you only have 6 places to a party and it is already hard to find party some times, so uniqueness yet not to desirable is most likely what you going to get out of the new job because they would not want to have even further party issues.

RDM isnt horrible past 41.. just, when you first join a party, be like "hey, i got refresh and dispel, you tell me to use either of those and you wont get them" thats what i do.. no one bothers me.. and their refresh's almost never go down (sometimes, very rarely, do they go down because of issues[like death])

here's the only macro i use for RDM..
/ma refresh <me>
/wait 60
/wait 60
/wait 20
/echo >>Refresh @ 10 seconds
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
this macro lets you see 10 seconds before your refresh goes down..
refreshes you.. then wait for your refresh to cool down.. refresh whoever.. refresh whoever.. refresh whoever (i usually haste between cooldowns)
you'll keep refresh up 100% of the time, and if you haste the melee between refresh's.. they'll stay hated 100% of the time too.. (haste lasts 3min, refresh lasts 2n1/2)
make sure your filters are set to see when your debuffs stick (paralyze, blind, slow, gravity [if needed], dia).. i personally dont nuke.. because i see rdm nukes as a waste of MP.. since they are so weak.. maybe i'll nuke for a burst but usually im resting and.. resting MP is more important to me.. i think rdm's should keep as many possible debuffs up on the enemy at all times, as opposed to just a couple debuffs and nuke some.. usually i'll use about 1/3 of my MP bar with all my debuffs and refresh/haste cycle..
but thats just how I play rdm.. no one's ever complained to me about it.. and its great to get /tells saying "wow your on that refresh" or "thanks for the constant refresh nib"
~nib
p.s. dont fix rdm, just learn to play it? iono..
i just hope they put in staff skill for RDM because i want to skill it up and have ws for it because i like staff but i cant and at 66 RDM its anoying, as a matter of fact at about 41 i stayed in the front lines and meleed but i cast refresh and dispel and all regular spells, i still havnet fell behind on refresh cycle unless i went afk, really not that hard, oh and while on the point a good refresher doesnt need to set up who gets refresh when (ie self whm pld blm etc) you really just refresh yourself first and the rest after and if you fall behind looks like you arnt getting refresh this cycle and it sucks for you lol. thats how i have always played and i have done well MB 2x per sc to lol the japanese love that ^^
misunderstead when i mean fix. rdm is the best job around and i have no problem with it just wish we hit alittle harder^^ < and/or could use more ws>
i do simlar proceedure except i do the time figuring in my head and have a refresh macro for every mana user in party from pri 1 to pri 5.
ps~and no i dont think we should hit hard as dmg dealers but it been said many time before there are really no really big damaging sword or dagger weapon skills
Not going to happen. RDM with Spirit Taker will be overpowered.
