New Level Sync Feature to Change the Way You Party! (08/25/2008)

I like this idea. Khidir-bishie is so pessimistic. :P

Indeed im truley impressed.

Any other MMOs have this? I cant recall.

Pretty fucking sweet.

If they offer skillups in this mode, then it'll be incredible.

If not... It'll be a fun way to level your friends.

wow very awesome-I see some old friends who got frustrated with leveling without friends coming back to the game =D

Is it just me, or do these two statement (separated by the hyphen and namely in bold) kinda conflict? Just caught my eye, that's all..

This will apply not only to the Level Sync system, but to all level-restricted areas and missions. This means that players will now be able to participate in various battlefields, Assault missions, and Ballista, and also to adventure in level-capped areas such as Riverne without the hassle of having to switch equipment!

e.g. With a party containing characters of Levels 75, 48, 46, 30, 12, and 11:
If the target character is Lv. 11, everyone will become Lv. 11.
If the target character is Lv. 12, the Lv. 30-75 party members will become Lv. 12.
(the Lv. 11 character will remain Lv. 11)
* If the target character gains a level while Level Sync is in effect, the other characters' levels will automatically adjust to reflect the new target level.
* Level Sync cannot be used in areas or events where a separate level restriction already applies.
* The Level Sync settings are easily accessible from the main menu.

Just.. kinda caught my eye, that's all.

CIty of Heroes/Villains has a similar feature, and they also let you power-up to a higher level, but it's only to one player in the group.

This is potentially how SE could make this not as epic.

They don't contradict at all. All its saying is you can't take a lvl 30 person into a lvl 40 cap and lower everyones level to his. But if you go into a lvl 40 cap wearing lvl 75 gear, your gear will be scaled down as well.

Theres actually several ways SE can fuck this pretty awesome idea up. Well, they technically already have by having special properties removed. Ofcourse, they did this to keep CoP missions from becoming trivial, it was still slightly idiotic for the exp grind aspect. It all depends on how much equipment is scaled down. If it's vastly inferior to level appropriate gear, it really offers nothing except for fixing the problem of no new players.

City of Heroes has the inverse, dubbed "Sidekick." A low level player had his level increased to match yours. Warhammer Online also uses something similiar for their PvP scenarios, where you're effectively boosted to match the level of the highest level allowed in the level range for the scenario. And considering you can gain experience through PvP at roughly an equal rate as PvE in Warhammer Online, thats a pretty damn incredible feature.

they said + skill will have no effect.

where did they say that? I read it as some bonuses won't be included (very strong ones, like refresh), but I didn't see them mention anything. At work though so I just skimmed it.

No, it makes sense. You just can't use level-sync in an area with a level cap on it; mainly because there wouldn't be any reason to.

Scenarios are awesome fun and at the end you're like "Woah that's a nice bit of XP I just got"

There are now two types of level caps, level sync and level capped zones/BCNMs. If you're leveled capped by a zone, the level cap inflicted by a level sync is over written since it's partly redundant. In other words, if your level is below the level cap inflicted by a zone (pointless for BCNM), then your party will not and cannot be capped at your level, but this is pointless anyways considering most level capped areas are terrible for exp.

Your gear still recieves the level capping similar to level sync though which is mostly what matters since level capped zones are made entirely for missions and BCNMs. Wish this was around when CoP first came out, would have made life so easy and getting help that much easier or at least given people less reason to weasel out. =P

World of who?

What of warcraft?

Final Fantasy XI FTW!

great idea but i have to think this is the last nail in the coffin for crafters and AH prices when evrybody trys to sell all thier level cap gear at once
/em sells all his gear to an NPC

I am so up for this. I can't wait. I JUST CANT!!!

Okay I can but this is COOL RITE!?

Well, getting to EXP/do events looking "cool" is a plus. :D

This is probably the best thing SE has done for the game ever. I know a lot of people who have quit before 20 because they couldn't get anywhere in the game without a party. I was expecting SE to do something stupid and useless to fix this like making Beastmaster a base job. But it seems for once they have fixed a problem (actually 2, buying level cap gear all the time is a bitch) in a way no one has any complaints about. As for skill ups i'd imagine that it would go by your capped level.

I Also Think this is gonna make the process of finding a EXP party bmuch easier... AS WELL as making it so the party gets the most exp available for the mobs they are fighting..

I can see this being useful in like lets say Quicksand caves where there is a Dramatic change in exp on ants when someon from your groups hits 47 or 48 while fighting beetles and ants.

With this if one person gets to high just do the level synch with the person of the most appropriat level range for that camp and BAM back to good exp agian

So you'll get good exp at that camp until the verly last in the group hits the max level for good exp at a camp ^^

"
Personal I wont Level Sync till after the 1st emergency maintence after this for fear that i wouldnt be able to go back up to my original level :P"
