Popularity doesn't mean jack if the site administrator doesn't like it. By now you guys should know this.

The game's changing, the times are changing with it. I am extremely glad that at least, in name, the new site will not be just a clone of QCDN.org.

"More of the same" is not always the best policy. My vote still stands, but I will support the final decisions of this group (pending administration decision).
 
In that case don't put the name up there in the first place? Seems pointless having it there for us to vote on and discuss when it was never ever going to be used either way.

I already put a note next to it saying I wasn't sure if I liked it and then I decided it wasn't a go.

Also it wasn't the most popular one, the eosun has been the most popular thus far, and is likely the one that will be picked.
 
I still stand by what I said, don't put forward something you don't like yourself for us to vote on. Just seems like a waste.

Who knows, I was off my ass sleepy when I wrote that.

In retrospect, I wish I could change my vote to vote for all options, since I actually like them all. I'm all for whatever site name gets picked as long as it's *not* a "Daily News" one.

What's so bad about Daily News? I prefer something to be similar since it's a spin-off of QCDN and not a completely new idea. If we were going to make a site where we post videos about bananas all day then it'd be different. But it's still the same concept.

Edit: I just think it's a little backwards to say popularity doesn't mean shit, but we have a poll. I mean, a poll is to have people vote on something then to have the most popular choice be the one to be picked.

So even though the poll closes tomorrow it looks like the eosun.org would be the best way to go. It has a nice ring to it and it sounds good to me. Plans are now is to get the url/forums up and start figuring out how to merge the two or something.

What I could use from you guys is input on how the site should be set up forumwise and everything. Should we keep all 4 general gaming forums? Where should fan works be? What should our XIV topics be? RSS feeds? Stuff like that...I know it's not too much but once the forums are built that's when I'll need some extra eyes. <_<;
 
These responses assume we'll be going with option 2 from the "technical thoughts" thread, it seemed to receive the most support.

Considering we'll be welcoming a much broader audience than what we have now, ultimately we should plan on the four we have now to avoid massive clutter. Perhaps start with one gaming forum and based on traffic to the new site, decide whether or not four gaming forums will be required right from the start.

Depending on how well option 2 works, we can probably have the same fan works forum appear for both sites.

I don't know if any work has done on the new style, but I suggest using some blue. I remember there being a ton of it in the first FFXIV trailer released ^^
