Next update on EXP

wow i read this thread before anyone had posted...

I like the xp the way it is now. Going from 60-67 with my ranger, pulling one level a day of xp is great, those last few hours where you are dragging ass, not hitting sc's right, you're using bone arrows to get that last chunk of xp its great.

I already think people level too fast, especially the jobs that are highly seeked. (rdm whm brd rng pld nin).

i xp'd with a rank 3 lvl 52 rdm today, didnt know what a refresh cycle was, he had his little butt buddy nin that had to come and xp with him who was wearing the cheap ass acc ring and a lvl 14 str ring.

if anything they should flip the xp now, make lvl 1 44k and lvl 75 500 xp. that way all these level whoring, outdated armor, no erase at lvl 65 having people quit and go play something else.

I dunno about everybody else, but personally I LIKE the idea of making xp easier in this game. I mean come on.... its not like what they did is making it a cake walk, its STILL HARD.........

At the very least you'll have lots more people to party in dynamis, HNM hunts, and lots more fun ^^. It also will now be easier to get OTHER things done instead of merely xping all the time. NOthing is worse than having no one to party with and now I think you'll have LOTS more.

Meh I like to have my game, have my life, have my work, have a gf, and my cake and eat it too.

Lastly, trying to compare leveling a job to leveling a craft is fruitless. You're talking different worlds there. More high level crafters = competition. More high level players = opportunity.

not even gonna address your whole post.. but that line is bs in itself because more higher level players = more crowded HNM = more crowded sky .. and so on...

So I've been alternating between lots of pain and painkillers, and hadn't even noticed this thread until now.

I'm actually surprised that people have gotten so worked up about it. I level pretty slow, too, and for the most part I don't care (I want to have the spiffy gear/spells/whatever by the time I can use them)--the exception being that I wish I could do more stuff with friends without feeling like a leech/aggro magnet. Even with that, though, I can't manage to get all twitchy about the change--call me crazy, I really don't see SE changing the level requirements that much. I'm sure I'll still take a year and a day to reach level <whatever>. It's not as if the current XP gaps are keeping incompetent people from reaching their 70s, either--an incompetent with enough determination or a high-demand job (*cough*blink-only ninja, may they burn in hell*cough*) is going to make it there no matter what.

And as to current 75s looking down (whether actually looking down on, or just perceived to be doing so) on newer ones, I'm sure it will pass. There's always a guard of people who revel in the "when I was your age, we did it the hard way!" talk. People reached the level cap in the game when there was no sneak, no teleports, etc. You don't hear a lot of bitching about all the "newbies" who came along after these things and reached their goals the "easy way," since it's been a while, and there have been new and interesting nerfs to bitch about since . And so it will be with this.

Very late response. My teacher kicked me off the net XD

Yeah, they will be adding more. But Im under the impression instead of missions it will be more stuff like Gods in sky. As far as I know CoP missions ended in the last patch(I could be wrong.) But I am pretty sure SE is intended to make this Sky 2...rather Sea as people call it now O.o

I like how you described the mobs btw

Incorrect. the CoP storyline was shipped "incomplete." They've been adding in chapters every since people became dangerously close to reaching the end of their unfinished product, and as a result, "Access" to previously unavailable areas. Every company that has an MMO does this.

Unfortunantly for those like Liefe, who do reach the big construction sign, they get really disappointed that what was anticipated as the next best thing is rather empty and lack-luster.

I don't care how long it takes someone to get to 75. All it WILL do however is jam the bottleneck even tighter. There are NOT many EXP areas at 75. Fewer than the 50s, the 60s, and the early 70s. If you're one of those chronic whiners about not having any place to exp, because of overcrowded areas. This will just make it so, so much worse.

However, there is a light to this, and that does indeed lay in Dynamis. Only 64 people are allowed into a Dynamis at one time. This will cause one of 2 things. More Dynamis shells sprouting up to support more people wanting to participate. This is good, because right now, because the 2 main NA Dynamis shells are maxing out their runs. This means people have to sit out. The other thing that could happen, Square could increase the amount of participants. But in doing so they would have to increase the droprates of everything, which has been long needed in the first place, as Relic Armor is no where near as game breaking as some easier to obtain equipment(Kirin's Osode, Hecatomb Harness, Byakko's Haidate, Shura Togi, Crimson Greaves, the list goes on.)

Most relic armor serves no purpose more than being a glorified trophy. Sure. SOME peices are quite useful. But most jobs will only find themselves using 1-2 peices regularly, keeping the other 3 in storage, only bringing them out to show off.

Unfortunantly, Dynamis is the only end-game content that will benefit from an influx of Level 75 players. Everywhere else, EXPing(Go go 3 exp areas,) H/NM, Farming for God Pop items... Will just lock up.

You want to wear things you dress your character up in the Model Viewer for real? Be my guest. But know now what it'll be like, having 20 other of the same job competing for the same rare drop Relic Gear, God Armor, HNM accessory. All I can say is have fun, and don't get too upset with all the competition.

Competition is better than lonelyness ^^.

Dreaming is better than Headaches. It's already felt by NA End Game now. With the inability to get Behemoth, Fafnir, and Adamantoise regularly, because of the deals between Serise, Efrost, and Lucifar. Our top players are severely lacking compared to those of other servers as it is.

I'm glad everyone under 70 is excited about this, but to add to what I was saying. The mid game plays a huge part of the game. Jobs are finally fleshed out. You learn what your role is with certain combinations of support jobs and party builds. You get items that are in a good demand, that most people won't farm because it interferes with other players experience points(Think HQ Crab Shells, Spider Silks, etc.) Believe it or not, you guys have a huge impact on what goes on end game because of this. Far too many people blow through when they shouldn't. People are coming to Tu'Lia, not knowing what the hell they're doing, because they haven't properly learned how their job works, and how it works with other jobs. Theres no reason to hate being level 55 because you want to get to 75 and see our badly bottlenecked filler thats supposed to hold our attention.

Yes Skaw that is my point. NA HNM ls are lonely, thus you lose to the JP alliances. Not that I know any of this but it is what you folks write.

Competition is better than the lonelyness you now feel isn't it?

Let us not feel lonely in the jp HNM world, let us be the competition.

It's not about loneliness. You know why NA HNM shells don't camp them? Ofcourse you don't. But I do. It's because they don't even bother trying to beat out the Japanese when it's futile. We're all fully capable of taking down the HNMs ourselves, it's a matter of fighting the odds and actually claiming, so most of us have figured it's better to spend the 3 hours it takes to watch a mob pop purple doing something else. It's an awesome feeling when a Japanese White Mage can out pull a NA Monk, Flash vs. Chi Blast. Oh wait, it isn't.

Skaw, its not Serise Lucifar and Efrost... its Ailia(fafnir) Serise(Behemoth) Lucifar (Adamantoise), now, Cashell and Efrost and theres another both help/swap turns with each person but yet they dont "own" it, its considered people who own it wuld be S, C, L, pretty lame tho but owell, go ahead counter-camp em and see what happends next ;P

It'd be pretty cool to start a LS that focused on killing the MPK trains. I don't know if it'd be feasable though. If it were, what would work best?

A large group of people who could each solo one?

Sleeper Melee with Opoo opoo necklaces that would skillchain AoE Ws to 'ga' bursts?

I honestly have no clue if it'd be possable, but it'd be a helluva thing to be able to do. make it impossable for foul play through direct intervention on the spot.

I can see it now, when I get to 75 and seek a party, a seek comment that reads: Old School 75ers only / New School <too weak>... Rolling Eyes
That's just as dumb as any search comment I have ever seen.

No one is gonna do that, there isn't going to be any negative consequences at the new 75s that will come in... what's going to happen is simply, level 75 will mean less. Like getting to level 70 now. It's max level but it's easier. If it's easier it means less. So simply all the people who are prepatch 75 will feel that loss.

This was NEVER a moe I thought Square would make.

I agree, and that's why I said I doubt that would happen.
Going after the only point I make a joke out of, doesn't make sense.

Fire I direct my post at you because I think you are being pompous. For someone who says he plays the game because it is fun why do you care if the grinding takes a party or two more per level?

How long have you been 75? How many God runs, HNM camps, missions etc have you done before there was a TON of competition, before others had the chance? There is a price to being first!

If I buy a video card when it is new and costs 500$ I cannot get a refund when the next card comes out and mine is obsoleted. How does this analogy not apply? Or does it not because you can't find a good answer.

I highly doubt it will be as extreme as you seem to fear. 35k tnl instead of 40. (OMG a whole 1 parties worth!) at most. How does that 'lessen' anything in a meaningful way? It does not.

As to the concept of you who have been capped deserving bonuses, it would not work because if they gave the 75's bonus they would have to give it to everyone and since genkai is in place they cannot do that.

I also would like to point out that a 75 does not stay capped at all times, no one is invincible and especially if doing new things we all die. When you die, and lose exp, and eventually have to get more exp for buffer. So not all of the exp you have earned since hitting 75 has been wasted, not by a long shot. (Unless you exp while capped...?) (And Yes I realize the pots in Sky give moderate exp if you farm those.)

I do not see a need to give the current 75's perks for being in that position longer, as the position itself has perks that the current 75's have been enjoying for quite some time now. <----Argue that sir.

(offtopic: Beat promy holla on hard mode in 2 tries, used 2hrs and kited it the second try. We had a few potions, our whm was naked on his sub. config? WAR/NINx2, RNG/NINx2, WHM/BLM. Only wiped the first time cuz the whm took aggro.)

At the time of the version update, if a player's currently accumulated experience points exceed the number required for the newly adjusted level, that player's experience points will be reset to one point below the number needed to gain a level.
FINAL FANTASY XI Development Team (4/15/2005)

maybe i'm just an idiot, but what the hell does this mean? is this for like, if you haven't done the genkai quests and if you go from, say, 50 and then 51, the exp will be set to one tnl to 51?

Right now I am 4.2k to level 64. With this update, if I do not level anymore, I think I might be 1exp shy of level 64. And no, you dont get anything for free. In my cast, seeings how i got like 27k into this level, I will probably lose the exp I earned. I am also not pissed about this at all! :D

The reason why they should give 75's some merits or something is because we've already capped the exp. The is NOTHING in the game that requires you to be 75 to do, nothing at all. I've been doing dynamis since I was 69, HNM's I can start at 70 at the latest, I got sky at 71. If I had known that they would lower the exp needed to level, I might have just quit whm in advance to level other jobs until the new exp caps got put in.

As it is, there is no reason to get to 75, except for merits and pride of maxing out your level. But I would have several more merits if I had gotten the same amount of exp, but using the new tables. Yes we got to 75 before the patch, but we didn't get anything new except for the opportunity to earn merit points, the rest we could do earlier if we wanted.

perhaps, yet what about those who were 75 before merit points? 70 before there was a 75? 60 before there was a 65? And so on.

I guess its not even a deserve, SE has made clear when they implement changes that its always from this point forwards.

I don't think theres a reason to be angry or feel cheated, especially since not too long ago wasnt the EXP from 50-60 higher? I thought they chopped that? No one had huge issues then at all. (If my memory is faulty forgive me it has been a while >_<)
