Edit: Opps forgot gamestop was on EST not CST, and we all know CST is the only time that matters so fixed countdown.


Edit 2: Apparently my gamestop is doing it differently this year (i dont know if others are as well) but so i just was up there and basically got my game (a receipt) and then i go back up at midnight, walk in, they stamp the receipt and give me halo 3. They do that with all the prepaid people so it should go alot faster then people having to pay for it and such. Well see how it goes in 4 hours.

My friends have been playing it non-stop. They keep leaving me voicemails of things they are doing while playing Halo.

Mostly sounds from the tv, machine guns and such. I hate them.
 
Waiting in line was fun, gamestop did some trivia and gave away some gift cards while we waited, did a chant for a bit, then got our games and headed out!
Yes, the rumors about the legendary and limited editions are true,
The discs were off their holders when i opened it, but LUCKILY my game was not scratched AT ALL.
my bonus disc however was, BUT it still works just fine so im not stressin.
Beat the campaign tonight on 4 player co-op in just a few hours, In legendary.
AMAZING STORY, AMAZING ENDING. I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT!
went back and watched the saved footage of the last level since we were literally yelling and screaming during that level, just the close calls enough had us in an uproar.
we messed around in forge for a bit before playing campaign and i gotta say, WHAT A BLAST. just the magnitude of things you can do, LOVE IT.
Did about 3 multiplayer matches so far, That is also of course great.
I just checked out the bonus disc features, installed my gamerpics and themes.
THIS IS THE GAME OF THE YEAR, just the quality and amount of content is unbelieveable. you cannot run out of things to do. There is not a single person on my friends list who is not playing H3 right now.
I love the little matchmaking map that tells who is online in the world by making one little light per console everywhere on the world map. the US is just lit up right now, i had to laugh at that one little light in africa earlier.
Hell i even got a gig performing magic with another young magician who i just happened to be in line right next to, just discussing magic made time fly by.
ladies and gents, welcome to halo 3. Setting the content bar that much higher for games to follow!
ive unlocked about 6 armor permutations so far!
 
Alls I have to say so far is I can't wait for UT3 :/ The only cool and new thing is the ability to replay matches which, I could live without. It'll pass the time though. On a different note though, the maps are great and I must say I like what they did with the mic deal, i.e. if you don't use a mic you get paired with the team with the least mics -IF- there isn't a match where everyone doesn't have them.

Ok realy there is no posssible way to get more out of a disk for $60 dollars. Our gamestop had races outside and threw water baloons wtf lol. Anyways Game of the year easy. There is nothing that can come close to this package.
 
I, as much as i love the game, have a few gripes. After playing H2 so much lately, having the x-button throw out your shield was a really bad idea. I tried to reload for a good 15 minutes. Some of the character models were a little boxy to me still, but the voice acting was flawless and more than made up for it.

I see alot of potential with this game, and i can't wait to finish the story line.
 
For the hell of it I went with my roommate to wait in line in front of gamestop for his copy. Watched him play it last night for like 15 minutes before I had to sleep(early class) and played about 10 mins before I left this morning.

After playing Heavenly Sword and Gears of War lately, I can't say I'm impressed with the graphics but those 2 put everything to shame so it's not really a fair comparison. I won't offer my opinions on gameplay until I give it a longer playthrough, but it feels to me like I'm playing Resistance: Fall of Man again, which in my opinion is certainly a good thing.

Note: I won't judge Halo 3 on the campaign alone, it'd be pretty hypocritical considering my favorite PS3 game is Warhawk.
 
Havent had much time to play but all i can say is wow, everything i hoped for and then some. Only beat the first few missions but ill get through the rest tonight. Forge'd it up a little today and that was fun as hell, all the vehicles are bad ass and personally i think the graphics are pretty bad ass. Grunts up close look sweet and the jungle level looked sweet. Can't wait to get home in a few hours and play some more.
 
One of my roomates just picked up the limited addition (or whatever) version of this. I wasn't all that impressed watching the first bit of it. It looks exactly like the other 2. If you have a PS3, get Warhawk instead. It blows any Halo away in both graphics and gameplay.

Apparently there is an issue with the packaging of special addition packages too because people (on various message boards and such that I visit daily) are reporting scratches to the disc with each bundle. My roommate's disc has a bunch of marks on it but still seems to work okay.

Just a heads up for you die hard halo junkies who just have to have those extra halo posters hanging in your bedrooms.
 
This is halo thread, please no warhawk bickering. That game comes no where near this beast. Not speaking about you fire, the other guy tho... geez. You are entitled to your favorites. This is now mine. Anyways just finished the game. Best campaign i have ever played. I never have taken part in such an intense game. By the later missions your heart is freaking pounding. There is so much variety in the gameplay. There is SO much variety in the landscape and maps. Not just some damn city or some damn alien ship. There is so much climate change i love it. Oh oh oh and this game actualy uses the fabled COLORS! yes yes, i know colors have been missing in games lately but they have returned. I went through on Heroic difficulty and it was pretty challenging. Man do not miss playing this game.
 
Just wanted to see what the quetz ppl think about halo. This is the last one of the 'series' right? Smash Brawl & Halo 3. Those will probably be the top 2 games of the year striving to be number 1. Well.. when y'all play more... post more about music, gameplay, and storyline.. (no spoilers of course...) I'd like to hear more about them. I hope bungie has given y'all a great third game 2 play :)

My roommate got the limited edition and his works fine. Of course that's just a sample size of 1.

I've got 1 glaring complaint though. Anyone play splitscreen yet? What the fuck is up with the way they split it on high def widescreens? They throw black bars on the sides to cut it back to a 4:3 and then do top/bottom split. What the hell is that? It's not the end of the world but it's really pretty dumb.
