Omgzormg Lets Discuss New Job Possibilities Because Its Only Six Motnths Till Wotg!!1

For reals. I'm sitting at work typing a report and all i can think about is going to Toys R Us this afternoon and buying a Maverick.

She-Ra sucked Hordak's balls; Orko ftw.

Hey! She did not! She-Ra was cool, hell I was really little then, what does it matter XD.

Don't make me bust out a picture of me as a kid in my Thundercats tshirt. I will go Liono on your ass...

Doesn't matter. Any time you resort to a comparison to Hitler or the Nazis, you have revealed a desperate lack of creativity and insight into the argument at hand. Which means that a) your argument has a fatal flaw b) your skills as a debater are not up to the challenge of your opponent or c) you are arguing with a troll. In either case, further "discussion" is pointless. Move along.

This is incorrect, there's another option here, lol. If you refer to the same example, it can also mean that it is just the most ideal example, the pinnacle example, the epitome. She refers to that example because Naziism is the most obvious and effective example of people just "going with the flow."

She-Ra was cool!

I agree. She-Ra was my role model when I was growing up. She was a bad ass chick with a sword and a miniskirt. Plus she had a horse that was both a unicorn -and- a pegasus.

If there's grass in the field, play ball!
If there's not, play in the mud!

(XD!)

If I ever have kids, I certainly know who I'm not asking to babysit >.>;

Hmm... ideas for Stine's Halloween costume...schwing!

Haha. I made my own She-Ra costume for Hallowe'en this year. It's super easy and awesome.

Why? Because Godwin says so? Yes Nazi references are overused, but it's naive and dismissive to write off every single one as a useless or overstated argument. It depends on the context, it's just like anything else. Seeing that (somehow) the topic of conversation became religion, talking about anything people would kill for with zeal, or follow with blind loyalty, isn't a far stretch nor is it totally off topic/moot.

But yeah the discussion is kinda endless when it come to religion I guess so back to talking about toys. I always wanted a lite-brite. ; ;

Did you know they make a 4-sided one now?! >.> I got it for my nephews last year ^^;

You are correct in that a comparison to Nazi Germany can sometimes be apt. However saying that the Nazi movement was "people just going with the flow" is a little oversimplified. First of all, the Germans of the time had a deeply anti-semitic culture, so it's not as if they acquiesced to what they percieved as unjust treatment of Jews simply because their government told them to. Secondly, the government controlled almost all media in the name of propaganda, and most of the truth about the atrocities of the concentration camps was kept not only from the public but also from lower to mid level goverment functionaries. Thirdly, in the context of Morwenny's argument (which I agree with, by the way*), the metaphor is weak at best. If you want to demonstrate a lemming like "follower" mentality there are much better examples than Nazi Germany, such as the Jonestown Massacre or third-world mothers denying their children Western Polio vaccines because their mullahs issued a fatwah. That is why I invoked Godwin's Law.

* In that I believe mindless faith unenlightened by curiosity or questioning is akin to slavery. I nevertheless have respect for informed, non fundamentalist, non eschatological belief - it's a moral paradox I myself am not able to master.

Lite-Brites are sweet. I think if I had one now, I'd just make shapes that looked like wangs or boobs, as that is my current maturity level. When I was little, I liked to make faces and cars.

I'd make a tarutaru head or a Batman emblem.

I think Tristam and Pasquale are trying to save us from ourselves... time to hop tracks.

When I was a kid, my sister and I had one Lite-Brite that we had to share. She used to drive me crazy, because I would use the templates to make stuff "inside the lines" and she would tear it all out and make lopsided flowers and green suns >_>
