I agree, I don't feel safe anymore. My school has no secruity, anyone can easily bring a gun and just start killing people, strangers and students.

I felt like this right after 911. My office was right next to the largest US air force base in the pacific.

Every single day I was worried that something was going to happen.

That feeling sucks.

Fuck you. You disgust me. No one deserves to die.

You're right, he didn't deserve to die. He deserved to be tortured and ass-raped for a few years in a good prison, then he'd deserve to die...if he was lucky.

Oh please. So someone on the level of say Hitler, or Stalin, or McVeigh, or Chikatilo, or bin Laden doesn't deserve death? There are some people that can never be rehabilitated under any circumstances. They are defective, and the rest of our species would benefit from the finality of their existence. Life in prison for any of the above-named individuals would be a complete waste of resources.

This is the point I'm trying to argue. I'm well aware that when someone wants to kill someone else they're going to do it, however it's a lot easier/efficient to do it with a gun. I'm not arguing for an all out ban on firearms as I realize that people like to hunt and skeet shoot and all that jazz, I'm arguing for stricter laws against guns who's only purpose is to kill people - not deer. Stuff like quick loading semi-automatic/automatic weapons. This guy was able to pump 3 or more shots into almost every single one of his victims. Even if it wasn't a knife or something but a shotgun or a rifle you wouldn't of seen such a high amount of casualties.

If someone hasn't pointed this out already ignore this.

The gunman was dual wielding two guns so it isn't too hard to pull off three shots onto a person with two guns semi-automatic or not. He didn't use a semi-automatic 12 gauge or a hunting rifle. Two guns bought from a gun store. I know one was a 9mm semi-automatic Glock 19 and a 12 Caliber Pistol. The first round came from the 9mm the 2nd round for the 12 the final rouns from the 9mm is the most logical combo he used seeing as though the 9mm was semi-automatic.

What I don't understand is why didn't people charge when he was reloading? He would have to reload at one point I am sure 3 people could have easily over-whelmed him. My brother said it best though as heartless as the statement is. College students these days, for the most part, are pussies.

Back to the worried topic. Like i said, i was sitting in class just staring at the door, waiting for someone to walk in. I also find myself looking around for places to drive and hide to. Really fucks with my head.

Hate to say, but that's my thoughts exactly...as I already said though, people needto stop thinking that having a gun makes you invincible or that you need a gun to stop a gun. The guy wasn't exactly Rambo, he was actually relatively small; tripping him as he paced down isles or stabbing his ankle/leg with a pen/scissors/pencil most likely wouldn't been more than enough to catch him off-guard and confuse him enough long enough to get an upper hand of sorts, at least for a while.

I don't care what people say about what would or wouldn't work to stop certain people - being gigged in the leg with a sharp object or something when you're not at all expecting it makes for a damn good surprise. You're also never expecting to trip/slip on something. List goes on. The odds such things wouldn't work on the guy are virtually none...if the guy even caught himself tripping he'd hafto drop his weapons to catch his fall or throw his feet out into a very awkward position to not fall over entirely - either would leave him extremely vulnerable...so...yeah. It's cases like these where lack of action seems to be the worst possible thing one can do. =/

It's stright fear. When someone if shot infront of you, that moment changes your life. Your not thinking "CHARGE MOTHER FUCKERS!" You are thinking, "Wow that could be me." That is just me though, I would never charge at a person with a gun, loaded or unloaded.

Over-view Tuesday night The Washington Nationals (Baseball) wore VT hats in honor of the shooting. An e-mailer sent the majority owner of the Nationals and brought it down to the GM of the team. Then they called a local sports authority and got enough hats for the Nationals to wear by the 2nd inning of the game.

edit: made small mistake in summary.

I have mixed emotions of this whole "Remember VT" thing. I feel its just feeding more the the fuck ups like this.

Also the media...christ, they are just making this so much harder. I know its their job, but its so wrong the things they ask and say and show. It really sickens me. My next door nieghboor accually goes to VT. He is ok though he was in Africa at the time for a retreat,

When you're in a car, do you obsessively think about being killed in an auto accident?

When it storms outside, do you obsessively think about getting struck by lightning?

When you're taking a shower, do you obessively think about slipping and breaking your neck?

When you're using an electrical appliance, do you obsessively thinkg about getting electrocuted?

Statistically speaking, all of those things have significantly higher probabilities of occurring than getting shot while you're at school or in any other public space. Fear will not get you anywhere nor will it prevent anything bad from happening to you. You shouldn't worry about the things you have no control over.

They say your chances of dying in an airplane crash are less than the world ending as the result of a meteor impact.

Which makes no sense, seeing as there are many plane crashes recorded in the last several years. And not a single meteor impact.

What gives statistics?

Honestly I would rather be at VT than Africa. The shootings took place in two buildings chances of being in those two buildings are slim. Chances of dieing in Africa or getting a disease? Pretty high. That is just me though.

I've personally seen someone get shot in the stomach...I was confused as to what was going on at first but once what was happening clicked in my head, standing around doing nothing was the last idea in my mind. Though yeah, what goes through each person's head would vary...

Honestly though, if you know you're in immediate danger, you need to do something about it, y'know? Get away from the danger or rid of the threat. The longer you're exposed to said threat, the more likely you are to get hurt or worse...huddling where you are and hoping someone else is the target is a bad choice for a dozen reasons, in my opinion.

It's probably skewed because of the sheer volume of air traffic. It only takes a certain minimal size of a meteor to cause a cataclysmic event, of which there are literrally millions of billions of those types floating around; therefore, a significant pool from which an Earth-impacter could be drawn. Conversely, given the number of people who fly per day, as well as the number of flights per day, and the number of average days in a person's lifespan as compared to the number of actual crashes and then you have a much smaller pool of potential crash events.

I find it kind of sad that the first thing people think of now when something like this happens is video games.

In the 50s they blamed comic books. After that they'd bounce back and forth between music, movies and books. Video games are just the latest scapegoat for a society unwilling to accept that some people are fucked up all on their own.

You got that right. You will never hear someone come out and just say "Yeah, that kid was fucked up." It's all about the video games or the television programming and the movies. I don't see how conclusions like this can be drawn unless the kid is wearing Halo armor when he goes out. Until that happens, people just need to realize that not everyone is stable, and the smallest thing could set them off. If it were video games that could do that, you would be seeing this happen every day.
