Outflux Of People Lately?

Plateued? (my spelling may be off) Would that be a better word? To me it just seems SE has given up on trying to get new players, and really doing anything significant to improve overall game quality to keep the current players. The expansions have been less than extraordinary, and as stated several times already the gear is sub par at best. Just seems to me more can be done to make things more interesting.

Nah, stagnant's a fine word. Literally it means not moving/flowing (mostly in regards to water, such as in bogs and swamps and the like), or when used in a broader sense, it means not growing/changing/developing/advancing. Which is more or less exactly the state of FF: it's much the same game and much the same gear as it's been for years.

"Decaying" or the like would be a better word to describe it going downhill. FF is not, or at least not rapidly, doing that. But eventually for games, stagnation leads to boredom and loss of interest, and that *does* lead to decay.

Also, that MMO chart made me giggle.

The really sad part is that it wouldn't a massive overhaul of FFXI to improve it significantly. It wouldn't even take a lot of tweaking, just some important tweaks in key areas. One thing that FFXI, and SE in general, has always had going for it is a great storyline, but all of that gets lost in the more tedious aspects of the game. Sometimes it just seems to me like SE has already decided how they want the game to progress and couldn't care less about user feedback. Yeah they've implemented a few suggested changes here and there, but I think most would agree that on some of the more important issues they've turned a blind eye/deaf ear. Personally I think a lot more people would drop FFXI if they weren't so heavily time-vested in the game. I know I was that way almost up until the time I finally quit. It's hard to walk away from something you've spent 3+ years working on, no matter how dissatisfied you are with the product. It's like being in a really bad relationship that has good makeup sex. You're miserable most of the time you're a part of it, but you have those rare, good moments that make you want to hang around and see if things change, which they don't, but when the next one happens it makes you hang around that much longer.

I quit this game a good 6-7 months ago due to lack of interest/life changes. But I plan on reactivating sometime in these next couple weeks. It definitely has a draw that stays with a lot of people. I find myself excited to play again, and just to walk around the towns/zones that I spent so much time in a couple years ago. Maybe I'll come back and fall back in love with it and play all the time, or maybe I'll get bored and leave again in a month. Either way, I'm looking forward to playing again.

So yeah I left this game back in the January of 07, fortunately for all of you I can back for a short month during the last July, but this Spring... Solan returns, I think.

See y'all there!
