The really sad part is that it wouldn't a massive overhaul of FFXI to improve it significantly. It wouldn't even take a lot of tweaking, just some important tweaks in key areas. One thing that FFXI, and SE in general, has always had going for it is a great storyline, but all of that gets lost in the more tedious aspects of the game. Sometimes it just seems to me like SE has already decided how they want the game to progress and couldn't care less about user feedback. Yeah they've implemented a few suggested changes here and there, but I think most would agree that on some of the more important issues they've turned a blind eye/deaf ear. Personally I think a lot more people would drop FFXI if they weren't so heavily time-vested in the game. I know I was that way almost up until the time I finally quit. It's hard to walk away from something you've spent 3+ years working on, no matter how dissatisfied you are with the product. It's like being in a really bad relationship that has good makeup sex. You're miserable most of the time you're a part of it, but you have those rare, good moments that make you want to hang around and see if things change, which they don't, but when the next one happens it makes you hang around that much longer.
