Pirates 3! (Spoilers, says I)

I really enjoyed this movie :D

personally im not a big pirates fan and i have to say i thought it sucked... it had some pretty stupid stuff in it like the whole "your crazy" "well id have to be mad in order for this to work" was competley dumb and by will becoming the captain... just made me hate it more, it just proved that jack sparrow is a cowardless ass hole, if he was really gonna be the one to stab the heart he coulda saved wills life ANY ways because he controls the passage of souls then.... i reallly reallly hated the movie :\ wasnt a big fan of the frist 2 either way but some of the fight scenes were nice, and Miss swan is a whore!!!!!! -_- sorry pirate fans, i seriously dont think ive seen a good movie since 300 than includes Spiderman 3, 28 Weeks later, and Vacancy, Potc3 (havent seen any other movies that look interesting) now Transformers, and fantasic four silver surfer look amazing 8)
You didn't like the first two movies, but you were willing to pay money to watch the third one, even though you pretty much hate the entire series? Doesn't sound very smart.

I went to see this last night, best film I have seen in ages!!! I'm glad the Will finally got some guts in this film and became a pirate, Captain Swann was awesome, Jack was as funny as ever. In other words, I wanna see this film again and again and again XD

no i liked the first two i they jsut werent the greatest movies ive ever seen, the first one was by far my favorite of the 3 i just didnt like the 3rd one at all accept for the part where the midget shoots his handcannon and flies back 20 feet lol

Oh, and Calypso was the most pathetic god ever. You can make a whirlpool, and turn yourself into crabs, why were the pirates such pussies to be scared of her?

I'd be scared, itchy~!

I liked this one a lot better than the second, which really isn't saying much because Battlefield Earth (with Rifftrax support) was more entertaining than the second movie. Basically, I was bored as hell by any character that wasn't Capt. Swallow. The saving grace for the third movie is Capt. Barbosa, who can fill in nicely.

I'm glad someone else noticed the massive armada that didn't fight. After ten or fifteen minutes of watching the Black Pearl fight Davy Jones' ship, I started wondering what the fuck was going on with all the other ships. Then I found out it was nothing. Okay...

The funniest part for me was when they freed Calypso. I've been watching pirates and rock-crab surreal stuff and supernatural creatures galore, but when she started turning into The Amazing Colossal Calypso I thought "That just looks silly."

Not a bad little flick, but not great. It didn't bore me like the second.

I didn't think it was anything special. To me it seemed like more of a transition movie to bigger things to come or in other words it seemed like the long drawn out details to a joke/story and now were waiting on the punch line/climax. But it's a fun movie to watch nothing great not anything nearly as great or stunning as the first 2. Think it will make for a great Pirates 4 though.

That was only a lame preview. I think she will come back in 4 and stir up some crazy shit. I think she held back to protect the people who released her but do enough to help them win. Now she'll come back full force! Just what I think.

If not they believe in the legend that her furry is so terrible and their pirates so of course they'll be frightened by a legend. lol

According to the director, any future movies will be focused around just Jack Sparrow and not be tied to this plot, essentially they will only be made to be cash cows.

That might work for 1 maybe 2 movies but after that point no one will go watch 'em anymore. He'll lose a lot of respect as a director also. I bet he changes his mind.

Seen it lastnight. I regret not seeing the 2nd movie before i seen this one, (screw other peoples opinion from now on). I was glad to see Barbosa was in this one, he's my favourite character out of the bunch. The way he and Jack butted heads was down right halarious.

From what i've seen the theatre was really moved by this picture on many occations. The movie is not for everyone, most people enjoy it, others take it's imperfections critically and sound like that want to cry.

I think Pirates 3 will most likely be in the top 4 grossing films of the year. The trilogy made itself as popular as it is, and not false advertizing, it faild the 2nd time, but this time it's going to make a really loud noise.

Finally saw it :P so funny. I loved it. It was nice that Barbossa was back, he was cool. I loved the "you shot me in the Isle Da Morta" (Or however it's spelled) "No I didn't..."

I loved it personally, definitely better than the 2nd, 1st was better though, if only by a bit. There was closure between Calypso and Jones, he died when Will stabbed his heart(really, can't do much there), she was pissed he betrayed her and swallowed him up into the sea after that. I mean sure, it may have been an easy way out, but damn, Jack and Will took care of most of the work for her.
If there's a 4th 1 I'm sure we'll see some more of her, although At World's End was the end of that trilogy, there's still more stories for Captain Jack, Barbarossa, and the Black Pearl that don't involve Elizabeth or Turner.

It flowed for me, definitely, I would have liked to see more Kraken though, but I understand why it was killed off, else Jones could have used it on the EITC.

As for the pirate fleet and the armada, mayhaps they couldn't see shit with that maelstrom, perhaps Calypso was only having it affect the Flying Dutchman and the Black Pearl because she was pissed after finding out Jones betrayed her by revealing how to trap her in human form to the First Brethren Court, and preventing others from assisting in any way. And if not I sure as hell wouldn't have tried fighting in that maelstrom, leave that to the nutjobs Jones and Barbarossa.

Either way I am definitely gonna see it again in theatres, and going to buy it on DVD when it releases.

Too much was going on, I didn't understand half of the time what was happening, people's motivations or who was the good guy/bad guy.

Why didn't any of the other pirate ships fight? Why did the huge fucking armada pussy out after just 1 ship was lost? Why did I have to watch Jack talk to himself for 30 minutes? Why did they put in that godawful wedding bullshit?

There was a lot of cool and funny things going on but so many stupid things it turned a potentially awesome movie into what I honestly would have turned the channel on if I was watching on TV.

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is what mass media has done to the world. If you cant figure it out as its comming at you, it obviously sucked.

It took my group 20 minutes of discussion afterwards to figure out ALL of your questions, AND some of the ones you didn't ask.

I figured most of it out while I was watching the movie, it wasn't that complicated.

I think the only point that took us a bit was what exactly Calypso did, and why it looked like she was useless.

She played both Davy and the Pirates to think she was helping them. They both started with the wind at thier backs (obviously impossible without magic) and they both believed that the whirlpool wouldn't harm them when they dove into it. She made both of them think she was helping thier side, when in reality she just kept it even.

And i'll explain the Armada leaving while i'm at it.
That was the entire brittish navy (or most of it.) They just watched thier flagship, the most powerfull in the fleet, get raped in a matter of seconds. Naval battles at that time didn't exactly offer a large advantage to the person with the most ships, since only a limited number could be brough to bear at any one time. The only advantage is that you're more likely to win out by wearing out your opponents supply of ships before yours are all gone.
And if it took just two pirate ships to down the Endevor, just imagine what the rest of the pirate fleet could do (the brittish captains might not know that the Pearl is a-typical of the ships).

And apparently you completely missed how everything works.

Don't listen to Acts. He is still cursed and what not. It shows Liz ten years later with a little boy watching the sunset. Then Will shows up and smile cause he knows he's getting some sex.

if you read the director's post on the subject, you'll know that the reason davey jones was cursed for eternity was because

a) calysto was not there on the 10th year, when he could set foot on land.
b) davey went renegage on his job to ferry.
c) as long as elizabeth is faithful to will those 10 years, and is there on the 10th year when he sets foot on land, the curse is broken.

don't bash on people before you learn a little more.

edit:
though i may not agree with it, or think that makes sense, closure to the story is closure.

it's late, i can't find the director's post at the moment, but here are some posts on yahoo answers to back what i'm saying
yahoo answers: HERE

still can't seem to find the exact post i saw, i was reading from link to link and i've lost it now.
but there's a lot of discussion at www.rottentomatoes.com about what i've listed above.

There's a difference between not figuring it out and it not making any sense. There's a difference between a good plot that when followed carefully brings us to our conclusion(for example: Mission Impossible one) and a ridiculous plot that so many illogical and nonsensical things happen that you need to strain to explain everything(Pirates 3).

Yeah most of the scene in Davy Jones locker with the crabs could have been cut from the movie imo, was stupid and boring, people were just looking around in the theatre, and someone actually said WTH out loud.

Chow Yun-Fat was wasted, one of my favorite actors, wasted totally, anyone could have played that role.

If all the pirates weren't going to fight as one, why have Swann give that speech about one last stand for freedom, and then have them all raise their colors. My whole point about them not having to do stuff they did, they took you places and left you.

The leader of the British forces I forget his name was the villian for 2 movies. He was controlling Davy Jones, he was the one responsible for wiping out pirates, hangings and such. And he plays basically no role in the end of the movie other than going down with his ship.

Which is why having the pirates fight him (the one responsible for thier current circumstances) and the armada, while the flying dutchman fouught the Black pearl would have been a much better climax to the movie. Of course the british would have had the upper hand, but the defeat of the Dutchman would have turned the tide.

That would have been much better to me than watching 2 ships fight for as long as they did. They could've taken the time from that ridiculous wedding scene during the fight and used it. THey built all this up like it was just going to be this big explosion, and then they popped 1 firecracker.

EDIT: And about that many ships not being able to take part in a battle. This is a movie with a Goddess, a heart beating outside a body, people coming back from the dead, people rocking a ship that big by running back and forth across the deck, etc. But that many ships in a battle would be UNREALISTIC?
