yeah, af boots > crimson greaves, and thats a free piece of gear that requires very little work. Only other thing I would trade to tank in besides af feet is af +1 feet.
when i lvling up PLD, i have 2 set of gears: DD and Full DEF gears. I also start using Bream sushi or sushi with enmity+. When i get to camp, i test out both set and see how things goes, use defensive gear if i taking lot of damage, or DD if i taking less.
i found that sometime it just better to DD in situation like: good amount of mage support that keep your HP high without losing too much MP, or when mob doesnt hit you hard enough for you to cure yourself to keep enough hate.
More and more people start fighting low IT and VT and chain them instead of overcamping, and DD gears shines on these situation most of time.
Bottom line, DD gear and defensive gear are both situational, DD better with good mage support, while defensive better in IT camps.
That's one opinion.. another is I'm losing 10 shield skill but gaining 10 more def, +20 resist to EVERY element, +15 mp and +3 dex/agi. And seemingly as AGI also effects shield blocks the +10 shield skill doesn't really seem worthwhile in comparison, especially b/c my gears are such to maximize def/vit/hp/mp
the greaves dont resist every element.
the greaves in combination with the cuisses cover every element. I'd SS capped shield skill but I can't, on ps2..
sorry every element except dark..
but you can exceed the normal paladin cap amount by wearing more shield skill + equipment, plus the merits, as jamal shows.
Upon looking at your equipment again, and since you dont swap out gear when spells are cast on you... I want to know why exactly you wear bomb queen ring full-time if resisting spells is your reason for wearing crimson greaves. Why?

This is where people give up on you.
