Since when does being an admin/moderator represent a person with high status?
It's always supposed to. That's the point of the role, someone entrusted by the community to do the job of being fair, while representing the needs of the community.

What status?

What's considered "high status"?

what do you mean by "high status"?

Reeves doesn't play the game, but he's the chief. Alyada doesn't play anymore, but he's an admin.
Again, it's status in that the community (hopefully would) find people to properly represent and moderate fairly to meet the needs of the community.

Reeve is an unfortunate exception. No offense, but he's just some guy who got handed this place and is trying to run it, arguably off of feedback from us, the users and moderators.

Alyada, aside from the other things I think he SHOULD be removed for, could be easily likened to some form of veteran. He doesn't play anymore, but did for a long period of time, and knows ... what's up, basically. It's arguably good and bad, but he's still part of the same community.

The way I see it, admin/moderator is simply someone who can judge fairly on a forum, cleans it up, and keeps things in order. What he prefer to do outside the forums have nothing to do with what he do on the forum as long as he does his job good. And in all hoensty, how does hacking in-game affect his judgement and ability to keep the forum clean?
What is fair? Who gets to define fair?
I don't feel it's fair to the legitimate players of FFXI who frequent this site to have to have a moderator who is detrimental to the common interest here. That's not the type of member we should be allowing any form of benefit, power, or trust, if nothing more than in the name of proper social justice.
Being around hackers for so long must have affected your definition of "clean"...

As for the upholding of ideal. What ideal? A lot of people in the game hates qcdn because there's so much drama going on. So what ideal is it? Last I checked, the most popular topics are those about screwed over HNM shells, hacking HNM shells, botting HNM shells, individual that does the above etc. So that seem to be the ideal of the board, no?
Protip: They aren't popular because people LIKE these things happening.

I don't have to take this game seriously to have a basic understanding that cheating (at anything) makes of your accomplishments meaningless and it taints everything that you do. It's called having principles. It may mean little to you, but it says a lot about you to many of us.

As to the second part of your comment, many people talk about how they've wasted so much time on this game. To be perfectly honest, what would you be doing instead? Personally I can only be productive so many hours in a day. My job requires a lot of concentration and effort, so after work I play ffxi. What would I be doing otherwise? Watching tv? Reading a fictional novel? Most things that are relaxing are by nature not productive. I don't feel that it's necessary to be productive every second that I'm awake.
i spend much more time with my kids now, my friends, my wife, my family. Its been more fun than ffxi for me at least. took up bowling and darts. but im not everyone, thats just me.

That didn't answer my question.

And what's moderating fairly? Blabj have done a good job moderating fairly. Removing bots etc. And he used hacks before. But because you didn't know about it then, it was more fair then, and now that you know about it, his judgement will suddenly change? All over a night, because of the simple reason that the laundry turned from clean to dirty?

And btw, there's mods that I sure as hell didn't chose to be a moderator. Does that mean they suddenly don't deserve to be a moderator just because some people don't trust them or don't like them?

I agree also.

In addition, why hasn't Chasym been banned? Most of his posts anymore are "yay hacks" (Detrimental to the common interest of this site, the game we play) and "god this game is dumb, I was dumb for playing it, and you pretty much are too", insulting many people for, again, the intended common interest of this site. Why exactly is that allowed?
i never called anyone dumb for playing the game, To each their own. How i feel about my time spent playing the game has no bearing on how other people spend the time playing the game. It would be insanely hypocritical for me to have spent so much time playing the game and tell other people they are dumb for doing it, My after feelings about playing the game should take no effect on anyone else who still enjoy the game.
and no most of my posts are not "yay hacks". Ive posted things in reference to other system hacks, not game specifics. and i did that for just about the entire time ive been a member of qcdn, nothing is different than it was before.

And its rather unfair to ban people based on their opinions, don't you think?

How bout thier actions?

my actions on the forum or the game? my actions on the forum have not been against the rules to my knowledge, And my actions in the game have nothing to do with this forum

oh, and btw. Me having spent a lot of time around hackers in OH days haven't changed my morals or opinions. I'm stronger then that. My morals and opinions back then were let others do what they want, I'll do what I want. That haven't changed. I also don't really care what others think about me. If they think I'm a hacker, fine. If they think I'm gay, let them. If they don't like who I am, I won't pretend to be someone I'm not to please them. Do you honestly think I'm so weak that I would change my morals and opinions to please those in my shell? If I did care what others did, I would have left. It haven't in any way clouded my judgment. If anything, it have made me less narrowminded and more open. Which have nothing to do with morals and opinions. Thus, my definition if clean is the same it have always been.

Which actions? Those in the game or those on the forum.

In the game, yes. He did hack. He admitted to them. But shouldn't it be based on the actions you do on the forums? In my opinion, he's done a good job on the forums. And since you quoted a part talking about the forums, one can only assume its the actions o nthe forum you ment. In which case Blabj should be kept as a mod, as he haven't done anything bad to the forums.

So if a mod were to be known to MPK people in game on a regular basis for no reason, but was a cool person on the forums, then he should totally stay as a mod right? That makes no sense.

Just throwing in my two cents. Said it before, I'll say it again - If you think you hacking for the sake of self-profit or "having fun" isn't taking the game seriously, you're only lying to yourself. You're screwing over everyone not working at your side so you can get a cheap, easy profit as the expense of everyone else. If anything you're taking the game more seriously than the rest of us by going of out your way to use these bullsh-!t programs to begin with. If this game was so stupid or didn't matter, you wouldn't have cared about your success to begin with, and if you're doing it just for the sake of screwing over others, well, that's sortof equally pitiful.

You guys are like a kid that tries to swap $1s for $100s in Monopoly while the others aren't looking because it makes the game funner for you.

But he didn't MPK people, now did he? He POS hacked to get his RDM coffers, and to get to ENM's faster. You can't compare 2 different situations which eachother.

And yes, by now you will come in and say something like "But he got the coffer before someone else! That hurts people!" to which I can only say, wow. you cry a whole lot.

it wasnt out of my way at all, it was right in my park so i really didnt have to go anywhere to do it, That would be like saying people who go out of their way to window the game are doing the same.
im sure you know me so well that your 100% positive my intents were to screw people over, if thats how you see it or not that had nothing to do with what i did. and i said wasting time playing the game was stupid on my part, because its a game...virtual people and items, real people behind the toons yeh but thats besides the point. i TOOK it too SERIOUSLY and wasted time on it. That i regret and its why i quit. i never said i didnt take it seriously while i played. i said its sad that i took it seriously while i played.

...I was using an example, MPKing and hacking are both things people consider bad, so just replace "MPK" with "hacking".

The point is that he's just lazy, as opposed to the people who actually spend time and effort to get their coffers/quest/whatever and he gets things right away, it is unfair. Don't put words in my mouth.

Yes, I do se your point. But I don't agree with you on the bolded part. You don't have to be lying to yourself and say "I don't take the game seriously by hacking!" since, quite naturally, you're not taking the game seriously if you hack. If you hack for self-profit, there's 2 different types of self profit

1) saving time
2) making an actual profit.

the first one saves you time so you have time to do more outside of the game. That's not taking the game all too seriously. Although there is a line you can cross, similar to buying gil. But that's because you actually spend RL cash in order to buy the gil. At which point its just sad.

2) making an actual economical prifit, of either in-game money, or selling the in-game money for rl-money, can be part of that "too serious", yes. Especially the second part as you consider the game more of a work then an actual game.
