Gil can't get your AF done, can't get your genkai done, can't get (some) quests done, can't camp rare/ex NM's for you, etc., there's a point where buying gil only takes you so far and you have to actually put some effort to getting certain things done, that's where hax comes in.

Gil can get your AF's done. You can just bay a group of people to do it for you. Gil can get genkai (except 4). You can just pay a group of people to do them for you. Gil can get your rare/ex NM's for you. You can just pay the group of people camping them. So technically, you don't have to put any effotrt in to it if you have the gil required. Just how money can get you anything, including love and friends, irl. While yes, they might not be real friends, they're good enough for your interests.

I never had gil..lol when I was banned they took the 6k gil i had out of the economy.

Sadly most of my gil came from people who were quitting on multiple occasions

it wasnt out of my way at all, it was right in my park so i really didnt have to go anywhere to do it, That would be like saying people who go out of their way to window the game are doing the same.
im sure you know me so well that your 100% positive my intents were to screw people over, if thats how you see it or not that had nothing to do with what i did. and i said wasting time playing the game was stupid on my part, because its a game...virtual people and items, real people behind the toons yeh but thats besides the point. i TOOK it too SERIOUSLY and wasted time on it. That i regret and its why i quit. i never said i didnt take it seriously while i played. i said its sad that i took it seriously while i played.

Wasn't directing my post solely at you, to be honest. I'm just sick of seeing so many people hacking saying that they did it in good fun or that this game doesn't matter to them, while at the same time they're doing it to succeed at crap they either can't do themselves, don't have the patience to do, or otherwise just aren't skill enough to do.

I agree, taking this game seriously does seem a bit dumb. But taking it so seriously as to pos-hack or fleetool or all this crap just to succeed is totally insane. Are people THAT FIXATED on succeeding? What the hell is wrong with failing, messing up, or just plain not-winning once in a while? I just don't get it. I know it can get frustrating to not get a drop or claim at times, believe me I know, but I just don't see why that simple frustration is driving some people to want to use bots and hacks to get their way.

1) saving time
2) making an actual profit.

the first one saves you time so you have time to do more outside of the game. That's not taking the game all too seriously. Although there is a line you can cross, similar to buying gil. But that's because you actually spend RL cash in order to buy the gil. At which point its just sad.

I guess it depends on your viewpoint. You see it as getting it out of the way so the persons able to do more RL stuff, I see it as someone's who's obsessed with getting it done rather than perhaps putting down the game and just doing it later.

Not to mention some things, such as warphacking the Chocobo Quest for XP scrolls or the little-known 'Mountain' sidequest, which both go on a relatively strict timer, can be easily abused with such hacks and while it doesn't cause any money profit, does give them access to incredibly useful items that can be abused at any time.

2) making an actual economical prifit, of either in-game money, or selling the in-game money for rl-money, can be part of that "too serious", yes. Especially the second part as you consider the game more of a work then an actual game.

The majority of people do seem to use it for this. And it in turn, allows some people to access or even solo ENMs that normally require a team to reach/accomplish. Don't really have much to respond with regarding this, it's pretty much been beaten to death beyond needing to discuss, y'know?

You are getting beside the point, but if you must...

It's not as easy as you make it sound, your friends can and will be busy for you and won't always be there to help you. If you can't get friends to do things for you then usually your next best option is to shout in jeuno/whitegate, and that takes a hell of a long time depending on how unlucky you get. Once again, hacks are used to get around this kind of thing and that is what makes it unfair.

yep, i solo'd all my smn AF stuff because of that, I yes asked for people to help first but it never happened so i did it myself. Even solod that one BC with the little treants.
