POL NEWS :another 3,300 accounts suspended/terminated Sep. 26, 2006

I moved to Arizona to ASU to go to college and haven't played in over a month. Tried to log in last night, bam, banned. Ironic? Not really sure, I made it through all the past mass bannings when I actually played. It's no biggy though, I don't have time for FFXI these days with college and what not.

Kicker is, I would have just given my account away to my linkshell, you know? I just wish I would have at least been PLAYING the game before they decided to ban an account that is practically inactive for the past 4 months.

Anyone else get hit like this?

that is weird. months of inactivity, them bam? banned?

I'm going to assume you've used flee hacks or something prior to quitting, but I wonder why they didn't hit you in the first rounds.

Hmmm... Do flee-hacks work while on chocobo? I wonder if people have been "performance enhancing" their new chocobos because they're so slow!

I got a 72 hour ban about a year ago arctyl and haven't had anything happen after that. The other big bans, nothing went wrong. Like I said my play time has been miniscule at best and I'm pretty shocked. Calling POL right now.

they got you on this one? :(

can we get a list of legit and rmt banned on our server? or is that not done yet?

You'll never get a list like that. The legit players who are banned most likely won't own up to being banned and the ones that do will likely deny any 3rd party cheats. The RMT list of banned accounts would be much harder simply because their names are so stupid. Avfasdf vs. avfasdg. Who's gonna remember those names?

Maybe they noticed how little you played and thought you wouldn't really care if your account got banned. Some of the other accounts that were banned could be ones that the owners already quit with a flag on them and SE banned them to pad the numbers of those banned.

If that's the case I'm going to blow up their HQ. I had a good reason to not play, college is rough and pretty much kicking my ass. Do I care that I got perma-banned? No.

Do I care that they got me when I didn't do anything wrong and they were just banning people with previous flags? Yes.

If you're going to ban people, at least be honest about it. What is the point of a "warning" or "temp" ban if you're not actually going to give the person a chance to learn from his mistakes? That's like saying "Yeah, you stole from the gas station; here's a $500 fine and go about your way" Then as you're walking out of the court house they hand cuff you back and say "Well, we think you might do it again, so you can't go anywhere".

I hate SE. That's the bottem line. Time to play WoW. It's sad I don't get to party with Neophytal anymore ; ;

No where does it say they even have to issue you a warning first. You should've counted yourself lucky you weren't banned on the spot when it happened instead of complaining about it now.

Warning is the 3 day suspension, which I believe is in the ToS. I could be wrong though..

Join bloodhoof. Alliance >.> Like no one one here plays there. It's so nice to actually be able to play by yourself and it be fun

lol, I have a 30 druid on that server, although horde :p I gave that char up though to join my friend's character.

But that is way off topic, so why did you even bring it up? Shame on you, and shame on me for replying to it <.<

Don't blame me >.>;; Simple fact is SE has a poor customer service and such. I think Blizzard pretty much as it down for me. I can play solo, I get XP rewards for quests, it's easy to make money. 44 Hunter with 299/300 skinning and 255/300 leathercrafting, 250/300 first aid. So, RMT is a factor but it's so easy to make money it's not that bad. Shit, you pretty much can find or craft everything for yourself, and the AH will sell your stuff for decent money too. Anyhow, that's publicizing another game.

On the topic, SE is doing things how they want to regardless of who it fucks over. They simply don't care about their paying customer anymore. If the, from whom I've encountered, quality of player on FFXI played with me on WoW I would turn WoW to my primary game and FFXI to my secondary. In stead of the vice versa that I play now.

Actually, I think SE do listen to their customers. Just the wrong part of the customers. Blizzard, however, rarely listens to any of them. I hear people complain about Blizzard all the time that nothing gets fixed, and there's still a bug in the game that's existed since the beta test.

Blizzard also remove end-game in the new expansion by making all the new raid dungeons a whole lot smaller, thus forcing some guilds to split up their people to do different runs. That's not very smart, is it? Its basically the same thing SE did to Dynamis.

The problem is, all companies are interested in one thing, money. They see their customers solely (is that even a word?) as wallets. They DO listen to complaints, the problem is how much of it they actually take in and do somehting about. They will always try and find the easiest solution, as that means less money spent for them, and as long as it do something, their customers will still buy their services.

And in all honesty, SE does a pretty good job marketing their services. They give you hope, thus making you keep paying. They don't do a horrible enough job to make a huge ammount of people to leave at once, and have more people joining, thus resulting in more profit. That's how a company work, and that's what they do. Untill they start actually losing money (from people leaving, not they banning), nothing will change, because money is what drives a company.

As for the listening part, yes. They do listen. There's lots of things we, the players, have requested, that they have actually done. We just chose to look at the bad parts that they didn't do anything about. But don't worry, that's only human. We actively chose to look at the bad parts, and ignore the good, as the bad parts are what's bothering us. It only takes one loss for a sportsman to overshadow a hundred wins.

Additionally, as I said, they sometimes chose to listen to the wrong people. The whiners, are usually the ones sounding the most, voicing their opinions louder. The whiners, are also the people normally coming with bad suggestions. And thus, those are the people they listen to. They also chose to listen to people on online fan sites dedicated to FFXI (read; killingifrit, allakhazam etc.), which are also known as the larger noob communities. And when you listen to the noobs, what do you honestly expect from the game development? The only thing SE really have to do, is visit the smaller forums, like server forums, that most more experienced players visit.

Really? Everyone I know says blizzard has the best customer service in the world. Especially on the GM side of things.

The GM's only handle in-game matters though. The development part is about as bad as SE, atleast during the time I played, and listening to my friend's cosntant nagging at how Blizzard never fixes bugs or fix this or that.

Although I might habe exagerated a bit. Blizzard might be slightly better then SE, since they have ,ore experience with computer games and online services.

However, that doesn't make the game any better. I find World of Warcraft rather boring, that's why I quit it and went back to FFXI <.< The game itself was way too easy, and the players were extremely rude and immature most of the time. A game isn't all about its customer service and complaint management, most is about the game experience.

they dont actualy fix anything. But since thier GM service is actualy a part of Blizzard, they seem to be better at it than they are. Wheras here, GMs dont give a rats ass about us and we know it. But the actual SE staff generaly listen when information is presented to them (see: fanfests, TGS, ect.)

Yah, either way. I really have to dissagree with people about PlayOnline's GM's being bad. I find them rather good. I've had very good experiences with GM's, although I could understand your frustration when you call a GM about every little thing <.<

Once they forced a Japanese alliance with Fafnir claim to escape and warp out, sicne they were stalling him. Another time they forced a player who were ruining my exp by killing my exp mobs to leave the area (even though he said GM wouldn't do shit about it, that was highly amusing and satisfying). Those are just some examples, but it shows that GM's do shit about stuff when presented the right info, and knowing how to talk to GM's.
