Poor Rangers = Bad Rangers

I would not say go as far as buy all HQ staves, but DEFINETLY buy the HQ Ice and Water one.

Now take a WHM with all the best gear, astral, serket. And one with like a sainty+1 and an electrum. You have room for more cures, 75MP might be alot. But if your level60 and 75MP will break your party. Then its a shitty party, and shouldn't be there in the first place.

As for all HQ staffs, nice to have. No need for them at all. Maybe HQ Ice. But having HQ fire, water, earth, ect are pretty much pointless. Unless they give the elemental spell a 50% increase in damage. Then do it. But the normal ones increased potentcy(sp?) is just fine..

a whm with tons more mp can chain longer for xp. chain 3 vs. chain 5 over multiple hours adds up. same as your analogy with rng. your gimp rng does 20 damage less, but it all adds up.
why not have all HQ staff? they increase attack for that element by 15% instead of the standard 10% on NQ staff. are BLMs now ok to gimp because they aren't ranger?
 
5% is not much of a difference for something you can sell back. Now think with Range. I'm not sure about the standard price on each session would be. But a RNG once told me around 250k. For arrows, tools, ect. Now this was with a static, so no 2hour session. For one week of XPing. You spend 1mil in materials. Which you can't get back.

What if your fighting gob's in Bibiki Bay. From lets just say for 10levels 60+(not true but for arguements sake) Those Gob's are only weak to 1 or 2 elements. So your not using the other staffs. You just spent whatever the going rate is on 8 staffs. Now if your a ranger. Instead of staffs. You use arrows. And instead of being able to sell those staffs back once your BLM is level 75. You get to spend millions of gil on arrows that wont come back.

Buying all the HQ staffs is not worth it by far. But to be an effective ranger you need good gear. Cause if you are missing 2/5 times on your WS. You just lost 2000damage. For a BLM your spells can't miss. So it's constant damage. So as you said that adds up. But if your constantly missing with your ranger. BLM will add up faster.

I must bring down my pts. Yup. I only have 1100 mp. Shit for me.

blms can get resisted. same thing.
i know how much a ranger costs to be good. but conversely a blm can keep getting resisted or run out of MP for chains.
i'm not arguing about money coming back or what not. i'm on saying that why is ranger held to a double standard vs. other jobs?
as for money comparison, 8x HQ staff is about 8million gil. does even using silver bullets from 50-75 cost 8million gil?

It's because. You need good equip to be an effective ranger. With other jobs you wear not the best equip and preform perfectly fine. But with ranger, there is a line. Shitty equip makes a shitty range. You can have shitty equip on other jobs and still preform fine.

i fail to see a blm getting his bliz 2 resisted for 100 damage effective.
 
If your in an area where all of the BLM's spells are getting resisted. And he/she is doing 100 damage or less. Either don't invite a BLM, get another good damage dealer. Or move to a different area where the BLM wont be resisted. Why spend 8mil in staffs, when you can juse as easily spend 5 more min and go to another zone?

let me ask you this: have you ever booted a blm because they are doing 100 damage? have you ever picked a camp because you thought about how the blm would do? and does it ever take 5 minutes to move to another area/camp with different mobs?

if you don't have a blm above 51 and have never had a HQ staff, please shut up and stop trying to make yourself look dumb.
 
Giving the example you provided Yanzi. The BLM is doing 100 damage. With the 8mil in staffs the BLM is currently doing 115damage. Compared to the 110.

How that is dumb seeing how I responded to your post just fine. I will never know I guess.
 
god i hate no edit. The only person I can think of that I've booted from my group is Parnthelegend. And I didn't say I would boot them. I said don't invite them. Meaning: They were never in the party to begin with.

well, how else would you know a blm gets resisted unless *drum roll* you're already with them in PT?

have you ever thought about the staff actually helping to lower resist? oh, i forgot. you wouldn't know. :roll:
