Any suggestions? I know, open question, but there'll be a flood of suggestions, I welcome them all :)

My first Maat fight, and I'm going in RDM baby!!

I would have to ask Hornless to tell you how she did all of it but I think most of it was sleeping then nuking him then repeating it until he was dead. She practiced on a Ruby Quadav right at the entrance of Qulun Dome. It's a RDM so it's similar to the Maat fight and it drops the RDM testimony if you need one (or another one). Plus you can zone the quadav if you goof up. It took her several tries to beat Maat.

Probably stuff you read so many times before but.. it's basically a sleep nuke strat.

Don't wait to buff before you run in to sleep him.

Bring meds, I prefer Mulsums.

Pray for luck! If Maat doesn't wanna sleep.... bye bye!

Wait until 69 for Aero III. Stack on as much INT and enfeebling/elemental as you can and if you possible borrow HQ Dark and Wind staves from someone. Although silencing him may seem like a good idea, don't do it or he will just run up and start hitting you. After that it's just a matter of nuking him down. During my fight, I used Aero III > Sleep until I was out of MP with enough for a final sleep, and then converted (replenished HP with Hi-pots) and chainspelled the rest. Just remember that he can use Chainspell too.

Edit: Oh and yeah, running up to sleep him first thing is a wise move - Shell and Blink in particular can make things turn ugly fast. Once he's slept, dispel everything on him, buff and go to town ;)

I think this was what Hornless did. She had some bad luck with sleep sticking and another time she forgot to buff before the fight.

try to survive chainspell , if your lucky youll sleep him and wait for cahinspell to wear off , after that he will try by any way to get near you and can do 5x asuran with no cool down (usually 3 will kill you even if you have stoneskin ect....)

i think to more important is to never leave him get near you .

try to farm your testimony in qulun dome on ruby quadav , hes not that hard but tell yourself that if you cant fight him , you cant fight maat , so its a good way to know if your ready

ive been beaten by maat 17 time , ;_; and i gone to fight ruby quadav noin stop during one day , when i founded that ruby was easy i gone to fight maat and i beated the crap of the old man XD

o its important to get enfeebling and elemantal capped too ,

if you can , try to borrow or buy an enhancing and elemantal torque to someone

- one good strategies is to go there about to lvl and bring a xp scroll , you can use it during the fight and youll get mp/hp restored and maat will be one lvl lower then you ,
i didnt use that strategie but lots of rdm does use that.

As Midna just said, or I just didn't read the whole way through. My RDM friend used that strategy.

You probably won't have fought a fight like this before, so you might want to set up a speciic set of macros. As was said Ruby is pretty god for practicing on, and its also good for familiarising yourseld with a new macro set.

Need Sleep 2, Sleep, bind, gravity all ready, and be prepared in case Maat already has blink on when you first see him.

Mostly don't panic.

You can bring a Reraise scroll, but won't necessarily help you due to reduced hp / mp pools, long casting timers etc.

Still trying to figure what the hell Khidir did to take a 900 Asuran, don't let him get close enough to do it but still, I took 2 for a total of 200 damage one fight (first one did 0)...

I was supposed to bring a -dmg% set, but forgot it on my win >.> You don't really need one though.

I think for me what I did was sleep him, then debuff. Rebuff, nuke once, sleep again, rebuff, chainpell > Aero III to 100 mp, sleep again, convert and heal up with Meds, then one more nuke to finish him off. I think it's about 6-7 Aero's depending on damage. I still have my macros for the fight laid out, somewhere...

I'll pull up my sses when i get home but some things need to be said

try to go on darksday it will help your sleeps also many don't have enfeebling torque on their first 75 job so i'd get a spider torque(drops from Dune Widow in East Altepa wiki it).

You also want to use a good int food the best pies but the best and the ones I prefer although pricy were Vermillion Jelly(think that's the name of it) 20k a shot but it gives the best int out there although not necessary and I wouldn't use it until you're confident after a few loses that you'll win.

Rdm Maat isn't necessarily hard but very resistant which makes the fight hard when you get into the bc the first thing you should do is equip all of your enfeebling and sleep him and dispel his buffs cast pro and shell with ss and blink bind him and start your first nuke as far away from him as possible. After he wakes up from his sleep via your nuke he'll start casting sleep him in midcast and start your next nuke. I used vile elixir and vile elixer +1 for meds which aren't cheap but cheaper now than when I did it.

When you see his 2hr animation go off sleep him and wait it out for it to wear off usually at this point you're nearly out of mp from sleep> nuke so take the time to convert and pop that vile elixir. I got him down to 15%ish before he gave up so you don't have to kill him completely I think. He has either 1.7k hp or 3.4k I'll check sses and copy them over.

This fight is very reliant on sleep which is very reliant upon enfeebling magic to make it land which is why people wait until 70 to do this fight, it can be done at lower levels but not as successfully generally. Aero III is overrated it's just your strongest nuke so far until you get blizz III, but if you have any hq staves you can borrow(Pluto, Auster's especially) it'll make a difference.

He's pretty resistant to gravity as well even moreso than sleep I might add, bind landed when i faced him at 70 with capped stats.

And it was a 747 Asuran Neisan >,>...

Good gear. Maxed skills. You need to go sleep it assap to avoid blink too.

Your level 66 fight was a 900, I still have the SS >.> I timed out first fight, lost 2 more - went on wrong day, so definitely go on darksday just for the chance it works. Resisted Aero can be fixed much easier than a resisted sleep - and won the 4th.

let me get some sleep and i'll pick up the sses when i get home...sure it was 747 >,>

Thanks everyone for all your input, I'll be sure to apply everything I can. :)

About equip, what does everyone suggest the best equip may be?

Can't say for anyone else since I've heard of Maat dying easily on some tries, but I went in with Pluto's and Auster's for HQ staves. Can be beaten with NQ but it makes the fight a bit harder; although once again, sometimes you get a really weak Maat. I think he used like, Fire II and Aquaveil on my win... and paralyzed me out of convert during a loss.

I tried the bring an exp scroll style. So I fought Maat twice at 69. He just wouldn't sleep properly. I got fed up, leveled up to 70 fought him and he slept so nice I was gonna give him a bib.

Level 69 and Maat does not agree with me >.>

i must say that for some reason maat his harder to sleep at lvl 69 i havce no idea why but yet ....

havent used hq staves , found that theres was no real difference for sleep sticking . but if you can get one , get one .

a good idea is to put the 2 sleep in your sleep2 macro like that :

sleep2"
/wait2
sleep1

like that if sleep 2 is not ready yet sleep 1 will be casted instead , found that really usefull.

for equip use your af is ok , but if you can you must use enfeebling and elemantal torque . borrow one if you can they help A LOT

A standard enfeebling and nuking set should be fine. You may also want to consider a MND set for your Stoneskin. If everything goes smoothly, it wont matter because he wont get the opportunity to hit you, but things rarely go smoothly :p

Pieces to consider:

Enfeebling: Staves, Warlock's Tabard, Enfeebling/Spider Torque, M.C Bracelets. Try to gear every other slot with INT.

Nuking: Staves, Warlock's Chapeau, Moldavite, Elemental Torque, M.C Bracelets, Druid's Slops. Everything else should be INT or MAB.

The nuking set is designed for a max elemental build rather than max damage. You wont need all the pieces, but the more you have the less resists you'll get on Aero III :) Also be aware that the M.C Bracelets have a conquest related latent.
