Pros and Cons of Dragoon and Ninja

souleater doesn't raise attack XD

Consumes your own HP to enhance attacks

Sure, it converts your HP into damage dealt to the mob. It doesn't raise your attack, but it sounds more kiddie-friendly than "Consumes your own HP to royally fuck the mob up."

Flamebaiting? Perhaps you don't get the concept, but I was actually make a legitimate point which seems to went way over your head because well, you're an... oh, right that would be flamebaiting.

It went whoosh because no end game LS seeks DRG, they seek NIN. While it may not always be NIN, LS require certain jobs and they recruit players with X needed job who just happens to have DRG leveled. Very rarely do they get a DRG because they're can get half a dozen other jobs which can do the same thing only better or better yet, insert player with necessary job and generic DD leveled. Once they're in the LS, they'll mainly go one job or another that's required and needed, but very rarely DRG unless they either a) resort to drastic measures so they can only go DRG or b) bitch endlessly until someone pities them and relents. Or was that the "defining" point to DRG you were referring to?

i really loled, if you seriously think people accept members based on them having NIN. You have another thing coming. I'd rather pickup a talented player that plays a DD job and wait on a NIN, than pickup a NIN and pass on a DRG only. If you seriously would have passed on an Audino, or either Eles because they have/had DRG only you would be foolish. end of story.

If a player is talented enough and excels at a job(puts most effort into said job) then the person should be able to go that job. I'll tell you right now, that i've seen plenty of people half ass lvl NIN because they have the same mentality that you do. I'd say save a linkshell the time/effort and just concentrate on the job that you excel at. Your mentality states that a person should lvl a second or a third job just because the linkshell may "benefit" from it, I'd rather have the person that has very good gear I.E. the well equipped DD only.

Let me ask you a question, if your linkshell had 2 applicants apply at the same time with 1 slot which would you choose. The generic DD w/ NIN lvled to 75, or a well geared DD w/ full homam etc etc. In respect to your comment earlier, there is no set parameters on what jobs you need. So you can accept any job.

I pity people that think a well geared DD doesn't take priority over a halfassed DD with a mediocre Tank job lvled.

why is it people still look down on drg.
i for one thing our 2hr rocks... yet people think its still "lacking"...

compare this:

1. Partial 400-500 HP Heal
2. Refreshes 2 jumps that also go on to provide debuffs
3. sometimes get full 100 TP
4. Faster attack
5. Strength bonus

to

1. summons your pet.

im quite happy for one about this change and i think its easily one of the stronger ones now just because it enhances all aspects to give a boost for survival. True DRK's ult with other JAs rocks end game, but it really sucks before that. The highlight of the DRG two hour is that it increases ur chances of hitting the mob as well as making you hit harder and you know you'll actualy get healed regardless of if you hit the mob. So i really think its a moot point when someone points out our 2 hr as being a "shitty" side of DRG. compare other 2hrs and see what is better.

Forgot to add that:

- The jumps become 100% accurate

- When using jump under the effect of Spirit Surge the enemy receives the effect of defense down(Approximately 20%)

- High Jump causes an enemy’s TP to be reduced by a percentage proportionate to the amount of damage inflicted

- Super Jump causes the closest party member behind the Dragoon (from the point of view of the monster) to have his or her enmity reduced by half.

Edit: Also wanted to add the amount of haste granted to the user is 25% and it is counted toward the "Haste gained from magic" cap.

- User's max HP is increased by 15%

- With proper timing a self-SC can be performed.

I didn't know half that shit, thats actually pretty nice.

i knew some of those lovely additives, but not all of them. very nice.

to answer this question, i honestly think they feel they have to. one thing thats never, and probably never will, change is that once a job is tagged with a stereotype it will bear that burden forever.

Plus they also never level the job themselves due to the stereotype. I haven't played drg but I've seen some good drgs that almost make me want to level it. I just have some other jobs that I want to level first.

which is sad... Dragoons in no way burden parties. Sure im only in the low 50s right now, at the point where all jobs can pretty much hit 90%+ accuracy. And i still find myself doing more dmg. I've parsed it and seen the breakdowns. Sure Dragoon Melee isn't as strong as other jobs, but we make up for it in jumps, our weaponskill, and of course a consistent 8-9% dmg pumped out by the wyvern. Additionally, we have more opportunity to go all out and then shed the hate immediately with no repercussions. : /

After re-reading those benefits of the Spirit Surge twice over I really wonder why it was listed as a Con compared to Mijin Gakure's Pro.

People that know me know that I think Mijin Gakure's a Pro anyway even if it is pretty boring. :)

I didn't want to start a new topic about this since it's a simple quest.
How do I remove this red question mark from beside my name ><
I always forget how to do this

Pull up commands, go over to help desk, config, cancel new adventurer status.

Why are we talking about endgame to a person that doesn't even have a sub job yet. lavi and jyak are both wrong... both drg and nin will get invited to a certain purple ls as long as you see the the shouts!

>.>; Langly go splooge on Kirin at 1% Kirin drops W legs.

Long time PLD: Ninja will make you feel completely insufficient until you're fighting Colibri. I would never recommend Ninja as a first job. Get a DD to 60+ and develop a new feel for the game, then consider Ninja. Its better to see it from the easier point of view before you dive in and try it for yourself.

Going WAR would be a very good option for a new player and a good prelude to levelling NIN.

Decent invites all the way up to and into merits.
Decent dd at most levels and one of the top DD at merit
WAR will be a sub useful for many other jobs you may later want to level (esp NIN)
WAR not super hard to play for a new player.
WAR dual wield + NIN sub will give you a feel to blinking damage.

...

If I were to compare NIN with DRG I'd find it hard not to be biased, but they both good in their own ways. You get some career DRG's that kick extreme arse. You get a lot of NIN who do a good solid job at multiple things. You WILL however get much more invites as a NIN and I feel that this is an important factor in getting a first job up to 75. Flag up for hours is not fun on your first job.

good luck

woot, off to a good start ^-^
almost level 7 and around 1k gill.
forgot about getting signet cast on me for the first 4 levels though /sigh.

I was wondering if it'd be a better idea to use my conquest points to get the royal footmans gear when I can as apposed to buying gear.
any input?

you can, but generally speaking it's easier to farm the items by selling stacks of crystals to buy them than use cp

you'll want to save cp for warps and reraise items

i'll send some crystals over you can sell at ah
