PS3 is hurting!

A simple graphics comparison

No, it's comparing apples to apples, but different types of apples like Red Delicious and Fuji Apples.

Wow, you're right. Let's start comparing corrollas to bentleys, they both have 4 wheels. I guess all these people ugrading their graphics cards are idiots because it doesn't matter what your game looks like.

Oh noez, I'm so hurts. You insulted my in-game practices which has no merit here in the real life. I use my money for practicality. Amemet +1 to Forager's has a practical increase.

I own a 2000 Mustang. Sure, not the greatest thing in the world, but far from the worse. It drives well, looks decent. It gets me from home, to work, to the grocery store, to commercial retailers.. Thats really all I give a shit about.

I guess when you grow up, mature, and break away from mommies teet, you realize whats more important.

Lemme guess, you got the 6 cylinder. I'm not just an elitist asshole in game, I'm the same in RL. I laugh at people who settle for something when they can take the next step up.

The thing is, you're not getting an increase in FPS by changing to a better display. Do you even know what "FPS" stands for? Even if you did, consoles are hardcapped at a frame rate of 60 frames per second(FPS for morons like Meeze.) No matter what you're using to look at what they're processing. If anything, changing to a display that requires more hardware output causes a decrease in frame rate. Since the machine ends up working harder. It's not the case with consoles because they're designed around the 60 FPS cap, even if some games could cause the machine to go higher. If any thing is dipping lower, it's taxing the machine's processor, memory, and video output. Not your display.

Maybe you should quit, and come back when you have a better grasp on terms like "functionality," and "innovation."

I was talking about the other FPSs, let's see if wonder boy can figure out.

You upgrade your graphics cards for practicality. Eventually, the hardware becomes unusable/unreliable. Durrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

For example, I'm still using a Radeon 9800 Pro, with 128 MB of RAM, because as long as my framerate never drops below 30, theres no reason to upgrade. I'll probably do so sometime this year, because it looks like that might just happen soon. The only thing overkill in my PC is RAM, because RAM is very, very inexpensive.

Yes, because theres no practical difference between 6 and 8.

You're not seeing "more" in a first person shooter either. You're seeing "clearer." And if you can't see fine enough in 480i, get some god damn glasses.

God, I fucking hate urban trash.

There's a point where you're spending too much for too little and the unsold PS3s on the shelves are making that pretty clear

So you're practical, I like the best. Denying that more is seen with higher def is retarded. That is the whole point of high def, to have more information displayed on the screen. What does your peabrain tell you HD is all about, just brighter colors?

Oh god I hope the PS3 has some kind of gamma correction built in. I don't think TV Brightness selections alone can help you out with that.

Pretty sure PS3s on the shelf are a direct result of lack of launch games and games in the forseable future.

What does your peabrain tell you about HD? You're not seeing a larger surface-image. That would be seeing "more" and getting more information. You're seeing a cleaner, crisper version of the low def-image. A Higher Resolution.

Seriously, when ghetto tries to talk tech, it's pretty funny.

But all the Wii games are bad and look ugly and its just a gimmick I dont get why its sold out everywhere

Think of it like the DS and PSP. The PSP gives you the best handheld graphics ever. It plays movies and MP3s and MPEGs and it goes online and you can play PS1 games on it from the PStore and it's got a wide, beautiful screen and the most processing power of any handheld.

The DS has 2 gimmicky screens and a gimmicky touch feature and you can't play GBA games in multiplayer and when it launched the titles were shit and it doesn't do anything but play games

But worldwide DS sales are at 35 million with PSP sales around 25 million. I have both, but my PSP has no games and is only there for the hacked firmware and homebrew. I'll admit being wrong about the handhelds last year.

If you are playing a 1080p game, more information is being displayed on the screen.

If you are playing 1080i, less is displayed.

720p even less

720i even less

480p even less

480i even less

composite, the least.

Now, I think 360 is 720p, if I was to play it using composite, it would no longer be 720p, it would be composite which is like around 100i. Less info is being displayed on the screen using composite than with HD cables. Usually background becomes murkier without the HD, and I have seen it when playing FPSs. I can see the players in the background first before they see me. Before my buddy got his HD set up, I would kill him, and he wouldn't be able to see me on his screen yet.

HD projects more info onto the screen. Of course it doesn't create new images, but if the images can be projected by the system, they will show up from a further distance with HD cables than with the composite.

You are gimping your gaming system by using composite when it has the ability to display HD quality pictures.

It is a gimmick that has caught on with the "pros" and the games have recieved the ratings to get most people to buy them.

They have marketed themselves well, and deflect the lack of graphics by telling people they can actually swing their remote like they swing a tennis racket.

Marketing goes a long way, and Nintendo is one of the best in the business.

No.. you're not getting it, idiot. There is absolutely no additional information being displayed. You're just getting a cleaner image. More Pixels doesn't mean More Image.

A 1920 × 1080i/p image is going to be the same image as a 16:9 480i/p image. The only difference is that because of the larger resolution, you'll have more detail. You will not see farther or wider. You may be able to make things out easier if your eye sight is awful, but thats where the difference stops: the level of detail.

Characters and objects still render at the same in-game distances, regardless of resolution, because thats entirely software/hardware dependant, not display.

If you still don't understand, I give up. You'll never learn because you have no fucking clue what you're talking about.

Interlaced doesn't show information in every line. Progressive does. You ARE seeing more. There is more to see. With composite, instead of 1080 lines of resolution, only 100ish are shown. That is a lot of missing information that isn't being allowed to be displayed.

How fucking dumb are you?

Yeah, it's all just a conspiracy by Nintendo to get their games to sell, right. It couldn't be that controls actually matter to reviewers or that the games are actually good by themselves, no, it's a conspiracy.

Ok, ok, graphics graphics graphics but history has shown that graphics more often than not mean shit.

Last generation consoles: PS2, the least powerful and least graphically able console of the 3 destroys its competitors worldwide.

Current-gen handhelds: See above for DS/PSP info.

Fifth-generation: PS1 has lower 3d capabilites than N64, wins generation by landslide due to switch to optical media over cartridges

Fourth-generation: SNES and Genesis trounce all optical media and '64 bit'(lolJaguar) competition. SNES beats Genesis overall.

First-generation handhelds: Game Boy beats every color handheld thrown at it, then goes color itself and ends up selling nearly 120 million units.

It's not a conspiracy, just great marketing. Just like Britney spears album sales, she has no talent, but still sold millions.

Nintendo has great marketers, sure, but the games are quite good themselves.
