PS3 is hurting!

All I have to say is, don't hold your breath on Wii getting 720p. I think if it was theoretically capable they wouldn't be getting PS2 ports, rather dumbed down 360/PS3 ports with latent 720p capability to be unlocked.

PS3, by the way, is getting upscaling capability, and is going to be upscaling DVDs for sure and PS2 games maybe, at least once they deactivate the emotion chip. Too bad they didn't start off with emulation in the first place, could have sped up the eventual price cut.

Is there a way to save quotes somewhere special? I can't wait.

Some companies will do this, yes, but others actually make separate builds for the Wii; as has already happened. Call of Duty 3 and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance both had separate teams designing the Wii version, it wasn't just a port with the wiimote controls tacked on at the last minute, it was designed specifically for the Wii. Now that the full development kit is out for the wiimote controls, more and more companies will start making use of the wiimote's features and you'll see less games with thrown-on controls.

Also, by the same token, until the PS2 is completely dead, the PS3 won't be making much headway in terms of capturing market share. If everyone already has a PS2, there's less reason to upgrade when you can get the same games.

Actually, I believe Call of Duty 3 was a port as well, I remember reading some people who bought the game complaining about how they ported it from the PS2 instead of Xbox(original) which they felt was a no brainer.

On the other hand...reviews that say that game is crap say the graphics are good... and reviews that say the game is good say the graphics are crap. It's weird... not sure where we can get official word on what's a "port."

I don't know about Marvel: Ultimate Alliance... just know that the game is... bad... I sold it back quickly.(PS3 version)

The upscaled God of War II. The quality difference is HUGE between playing it in a PS2 and PS3.

I know marvel had a completely separate team for the Wii version; I remember hearing the same about call of duty 3 but not as much. I loved the gameplay in M:UA, but I guess it's just a preference to the genre.

People bitch and bitch about not being able to find a Wii. They just dont know where to fucking look. "Uhhhhhh does this video game only store where the majority of the people in this town shop for systems and games have a Wii?" i respond, "No..." Dumb Bitch "WHAT THE FUCK"

Go to a Sams Club or a Target, they get them in bulk, and they tell you when they get them also.

That is where you are wrong. They do not get them in bulk. What they do is hold off on selling them. GameStop/EB actually gets the most units as they are the largest video game retailer. GameStop/EB sell them right when they get them, so it seems like they get less. What BestBuy and Walmart and other stores like that do is to hold them for several weeks at a time until they can stock up enough to make a sale around it and send out flyers to bring in more business.

If you want to say Nintendo is only doing well because of marketing, then I say the same for Walmart and Bestbuy because they are getting the same amount as everyone else.

My friend has been checking 13 stores here for months trying to get one, just because the people in your area are too stupid to check more than a single store doesn't mean that everyone else is. All of those same stores have PS3's in stock, by the way.

Want to know a secret. ALL Gamestops and EBs get a total of 3-5 Wiis a week, they are bought BY THE EMPLOYES. MY old manager (whom got fired) got cought selling Nintendo Wiis on Ebay. EB and GS is so fucked up. My old store would open new games and sell them used to make a bigger profit.

Back on topic: Buy at Target, or get friendly with people at EB or GS.

I work at a "high active" store so they call it. We get 3-5 a week. The most we got at once was 16, and that was launch day.

Good for your local GameStop/EB. Your manager was a dickhead. I used to manage a GameStop and didn't allow shit like that. I know being in a market as booming as Baltimore might be different (sarcasm) but in NYC, things are run a bit different, where .. ya know ... managers manage stuff.

That makes no sense at all, marking new games as used to make a bigger profit? The used games sell for less, so if anything they'd be losing money. Your gamestop is corrupt, very few of them are like that, so stop acting like it's the rule rather than the exception.

I am just a part timer.

And selling games used nets gamestop/EB the full profit. Selling new games make them like 5 dollars?

Actually, it's true what Kelyon says about that. You are right though, their GameStop is corrupt. GameStop actually makes most of their money off used games. Used games come in and out so much, and with the trade in value sucking compared to how much they sell it for, GameStop makes a shitload of money.

The funny thing about GameStop is they actually pay more many than other places do for new games, usually $5-10 more per game. Why? So they get first dibs and exclusives and stuff like that. They make less than other business with new games, but with used, they make a shitload of money, especially when the markdown of used games is only $5 max. The turnover is much more than single sales of games.

I know that they make a lot of money buying and reselling used games, but Kelyon said they open up brand new games and sell them as used, which makes no sense at all. They're going to pay more than they probably would rebuying it from someone, and then sell it for less money than a new game would sell for. So how exactly does selling something for less than it would normally go for lead to bigger profits?

Lets say GS buys a game for 20bucks
Costs 50 for consumer
Give X% to the selling company
GS makes w/e is left

Used games:
Buy NEW game for 20
Force move to used (free)
Sell for 45.99
make 25.99 Profit compared to the 10 they might make of a new copy.

FYI i quit from my old store which did this shaddy stuff. I work at the store near my house were its 100% ligit.

The single store tells the GameStop corporate that the game was defective. Most of the time, defective games end up in what they call field destroy. They shrink it out of their system, but actually made a sale on the game. Then the way it works is that GameStop basically tells the gaming company that they had so many defectives, and I would say 99% of the time, the gaming company just sends them to GameStop without even checking the games, hence the field destroy. This way, the single GameStop store is getting basically 2 sales from the same game. This increases the stores profit as well as their used sales, which get the store an extra perk for the store manager.

The problem with this is that there are supposed to be at least 3 levels of management to stop this, so I wouldn't be surprised if all 3 were getting something out of it. I know definitely store managers do. There is a store manager, district manager, loss prevention, and then regional director. If any of them are too lazy to do their work, this goes unnoticed.

As far as the extra perk I mentioned earlier for store managers, it is a monitary bonus they receive for selling/comping up in their used items. I know as a store manager, I received yearly bonuses that were up to $3000 from comping up in used sales. Talk about incentive to open new games and sell them as used.
