Why would you wait in line when you're guaranteed a copy?
And there were 80,000 PS3s in the US on launch.

Because I wanted to pick it up? I didn't wait long, about 20 minutes before the stores opened, but there was still people waiting in line when they were already guaranteed to get a Wii.Why would you wait in line when you're guaranteed a copy?

By the way, not only is PS3 going to reach 3 million shipped by the end of the month, but Resistance is going to get spiked up near the 1 million mark.
Fixed, you left out one very important key word.By the way, not only is PS3 going to reach3 million shipped by the end of the month, but Resistance is going to get spiked up near the 1 million mark.
Uh, Europe is quite larger than the United States, buddy. A larger population in total by far. Europe doesn't equal the United Kingdom.
700 million Europeans. 300 million Americans(Plus the 20,000 or so Canadians.)
1 million Euro-PS3s. 400,000 NA-PS3s.
The effect should have been nearly mirrored.
*COUGH*
And why would there be lineups? They're avail for preorder (which sold out in england BTW) Why should I camp out in line when i can just call them up, have them put my name down on a piece of paper, and get it when i come off work?
Why were there lineups here? Clearly those with Pre-orders had their system guaranteed. It's not like a store can overbook pre-orders!
Oh.. wait.
Can't we just say you want PS3 to fail because you don't like them pushing a $600 dollar system, I want it to succeed because I like top-of-the-line technology, shut the fuck up and let me play Oblivian?
Because no one was accepting preorders on the NA release. Some stores did, but then had to refund them. It was gaming news, remember? There were lineups in NA because there were no preorders allowed.
Who gives a flying fuck? I've still got Suikoden 4 to beat, Suikoden 5 to buy and beat. FF X-2 to beat. Xenosaga 2 to beat. Xenosaga 3 to buy and beat. Rogue Galaxy to beat. Xenogears to beat. FF12 to complete 100% and you mother fuckers to deal with. Those are just RPGs too... still need to beat San Andreas... need to beat Motorstorm. Need to beat Armored Core 4 now... Need to buy and beat God of War 2...
Think I've been spending my time since I got PS3 crying in the corner about nothing to play with so many PS2 games I haven't beaten yet?
Hell I've never even played Chronotrigger, chronocross or any of the dragon quest games... only thing I really can't wait for is FF13...
No, a lot of stores accepted preorders. Maybe things were held differently in Canada. Maybe what you're thinking was Ebay taking down auctions over Preorder tickets. I know personally a few people who did put in their preorders and picked them up, and then sell them on ebay. I also know people who had preordered and had to wait for another shipment before they could get theirs because they didn't camp out.
I guess the Sony Fanboy Club must've issued a deniablity action. Deny that Preorders existed. Deny people lining up. Deny the number of PS3s Sony said they shipped for launch and say it was 1/5th as much.
