No, It's nobodies business who rep's you up or down. Taking a screeny and making it your signature is completely up to the user, no one forces them to show everyone else.
If you're going to Implement it, let people choose whether or not they want their profile to show or not? Or you could make it so that Friends can only view it? If it's mainly being implement so people can see where people are getting rep ups from, thats none of some peoples business.
I think you're way off base with your accusations Zyn, and frankly, why you feel you must whole-heartedly disagree with any suggestion I make on these boards makes it seem you're not disagreeing with the ideas but the person.
There is blatant abuse going on with the system, making public comments in a private way to try to save face. In a perfect world, the rate-up/down system would work with being private. But when 3 LS-leaders are sending responses to threads via a rate-down rather than responding where everyone can see, there's a problem.
I'm fine with a report function. That should be more than sufficient to, at least, slow down abuse of a reputation system. I can think of one instance (re: jyakotsu vs. Zerayla) off-hand where it would have come in exceptionally handy.
Making it publicly viewable though is like making the private message inboxes viewable. I *still* type things in rep window that I don't want anyone else to see. If I agree strongly with something Stine says, rep her up for it, and I *just happen to* tack on a "I can't wait til you get home *rrrrwwwoooorrrrrr*", I sure as hell don't want that to be seen by the larger part of the community.
Likewise, I don't think making it viewable by friends is necessarily good either. I might have two separate friends who aren't friends themselves, and if one reps me up for disagreeing with another (as friends are allowed to disagree, contrary to popular belief), and the other potentially reads and misconstrues the meaning of the rep-up, it could cause a vast amount of discomfort for all three parties involved, and in a worst-case scenario, could mean the breakdown of friendships in the process.
Correct me if I'm wrong (and I'm pretty sure I'm not), but can't mods or at the very least admins view rep comments already? I find it nigh impossible to believe that literally no one in power can see rep comments. It wouldn't even require coding to allow users to file complaints about rep abuse, all they would have to do is just find a post by the user in question and report it with "Please check the rep comments I have received from this user" and the mods/admins could look into it. It really should be that simple unless I'm missing something profound.
"Blatant abuse" would be prevented or addressed by a report function on the rep system. I don't have a problem with that. If you want to report something negative someone's said to you, bully for you. But no, you do not need to read everyone else's comments and be in everyone else's business. And I mean "you" in the general sense Jamal, since you seem to believe that since I disagree with you on many, many things that it is some personal target practice on my part.
This isn't me trying to be a jerk but at this point the hack I have would show reputation in everybody's profile as if you were viewing their contact info. At this point, there is no possible addition of a report feature, no way to really start it from this point forward. The option right now and question I want answered is "Do you want reputation viewable to everybody on QCDN or no?"

Answer the question. Don't tell me I don't need to be in people's business. You have yet to stop making personal attacks on my character and say why this would not be a viable solution for the things I've said. There's being vocal, and there's harassing. Your posts are targetted at my character, and frankly are NOT productive discussion.
Simple answer then; no. It's nobody's business what I think of someone's post privately, and especially when it's not worth typing up a private message to say "well-put" or "man, you were a dumbass just now", risking clogging the vB database with tons and tons of PMs.The option right now and question I want answered is "Do you want reputation viewable to everybody on QCDN or no?"
