Problem with that was people didn't really seem to know the difference between the two (I don't get why either). And would post RL shit in the off topic area and it just seemed to be silly to have the two boards.

There's no reason to come to Eosun, over any other of the dozens of fansites that will pop up in regards to XIV, like they did to come to QCDN. QCDN was never really about XI, it was the Quetz community and our own personal view of the game, and of issues specific to us. Without that focus, Eosun will just get lost to sites that have bigger draws for simplicity's sake.

I was worried I'd have to dig up older posts showing the downturn and general shift that the website had gone down this last year, but then one comes and hands itself to me.

The sites focus shifted from relevant FFXI information towards useless off-topic banter, and then to a separate game entirely. The real Quetz players shifted elsewhere to get their information and discussion, further accelerating the cycle here.

Miros is a great guy, but I can't help but feel sorry for him, stuck running this place when he isn't even the one pulling the big strings.

Thing is, he has a point. Most of the people that used to frequent this site "for the community aspects" have left. I mean hell, even though I used to bring alot of negative to this site, I used to frequent it at least a couple times a day... Now on a good day i'll frequent it a couple times a week.

"/yawn", I'll add a little bit more to my post this time. I agree with most of the things that have been said in this thread already. Mainly considering the aspects of "it's just an old game" now. It's sad, I miss the old community.

I still come here from time to time trying to find something new. I used to read the RL stuff to see what people are up to that I longer have contact with, just for curiosity sake. Most of us technically grew up with this community. I sure did, I was still a freshman in college when I started browsing these forums.

But when it comes down to it, it's just the general lack of interest of the entire shift to 14. That coupled with the iron fist moderation of a forum with a declining user base build from a great game (don't know about you but I loved XI), old XI players just prefer other forums to browse, for informational or social purposes.
 
I don't think iron-fisted is the correct term here...
 
Got a "Server is busy, try later" message a little bit ago, so that doesn't help things either.

Peanut butter and jelly on toast is even better. My lunchbox this week supports this idea with irrefutable evidence.

On topic: I miss some of the old community as well, but I really dont find the site to lack relevance to be honest. The people who have stuck it out did so because they have made some great connections with others. I for one love seeing all you folks here (TG, Stine, Trib, Miros, DW, Raes, etc) because more often than not I'll get some sort of chuckle out of what y'all post in a thread or in the chatbox.
 
I miss Qcdn of old. This site was fun when we had more threads and topics. I know shit dies eventually but we really need a way to get traffic back to this site. I don't want Qcdn to die.

Except there's no other way to say "I told you so" without using that attitude. I did tell you, thus I get to say I told you so.
