first of all, this is not april fools joke!

i open my computer from hybernation and i see my virusscan running and detecting two trojan filees and delete them.

i tried logging onto my account but i could not because play online says incorrect id or password. after several tries, i decided to contact support center for password reset. at this moment, i was thinking,,, could my account be hacked?

i log onto my account with password resetted to a new password and i see my character in upper jeuno. For sure i logged off tahrogi canyon yesterday. i see my gils and equipments gone. i have lost around 20 mil in gears and gils. I told what have happened to my ls members and my friends. Autism was able to track down what happen to my gears.

all of my gears are sold by Quewsx and Quedia on AH.

watch out, you guys can be next.

as for me, i am quitting this game.

How do you know it was those two particular people?

Using peer to peer things like limewire, imesh, etc. drastically improves your chances for malicious acts on your PC, so if you partake in that, a keylogger was most definately used to determine what your password as. Keyloggers are frequently how people "hack" others accounts.

You should probably save the things you want from your hard drive , get your windows disk, and reformat your hard drive.

Is it beneath us to torture the people in real life that hack everyones account and steal there stuff? Don't have to kill them, just torture until they lose their sanity. Perhaps I should poll it.

ugh, I know how you feel. I wasn't hacked but my 2nd Account was fucked.
After I updated, latest update, the preset password wouldn't work. yea I called SE, asked for all info but I didn't have reg code cause account was my friends who was deceased.
So I know how you feel. luckily had a backup account.

/comfort Shire, Starting over is a pain so I understand.
 
i got a reply back from GM saying they can't recover my items since items were traded to RMT.... so fuck it. i deactivated my account.

GM don't care about person who got hacked. and reward hackers.

by the time special task force deletes RMT accounts, they would have sold the gils to some one and have made enough profits. all RMT gotta do is buy another FFXI and repeat what they did to me to another player.

i guess SE wants to keep RMT because that's how SE makes money too.

fuck it. this is last time i am buying any of SE product.

There really isn't alot they can do about it. It'd be unfair to just give you your things back. If they did that for everybody, it would be way too easy to just "claim" you got hacked and suddenly double your value.

Believe me, I'll be the first to criticize anything and everything SE does that is stupid, but this is not one of those moments.

Ban IP addresses. I don't think that's difficult, nor are they hard to track.

This is just one of about 1,000 products that enable changing your IP, masking your IP, hiding your IP...
 
Correct me if I am wrong but this program works by scrambling/changing the IP address so that it can not be selected?

Might it possibly have to do with ipv9? Which could easily be remedied using gunboat diplomacy by Japan. I'm sure the rest of the capitalist nations would be happy, as well.

Eh, I didn't feel like saying anything until this point. Tim kinda beat me to it already, but still.

I can't fucking stand it when people act like this shit is everybody else's fault, and they're innocent in the whole affair. You're a fucking idiot who doesn't take care of his shit, and/or actively uses programs that you shouldn't, I don't know which, but they go hand in hand, so that's a minor detail.

Then, after fucking up, you cry to SE to fix your mistake which, as Tim said, is extremely easy to exploit, and you're lucky you got it back to begin with. Then, when they won't bend over backwards to fix, again, your mistake in exactly the way you want, you start bitching and blaming them for this.

There are two people responsible here:
1) RMT, for being jackasses and doing this to begin with (maybe gilbuyers if you want to include a 3rd)
2) You, for not maintaining your computer.

You people all need to consider yourselves lucky this is just an MMORPG character and not a bank account or something similar.

It fucking pisses me off to see someone piss all over everyone else like you're doing, acting innocent in the whole matter when something like this happens. Yeah, there are shitty, dishonest people in the world... but when you don't bother to protect yourself from them, especially after seeing this sort of thing happen repeatedly, you're just a moron.
