realistic blm improvements

If there were such a mob with low HP but near-complete melee immunity, it'd make the melee useless and more or less become a mob that BLMs could very happily chain nonstop in a group of 2 or 3 by having two nuke while the third rests, possibly with a COR, or BRD on the side to help them keep up with MP. There usedto be a room in sea with three SMN's elementals that were more or less XPed off of in the exact same fashion, though ironically this was changed...

Except if you make it so they resist fairly often and being that MB resist far less often or just increase the damage on a MB like on those wierd undead mobs, it'd be worthwhile again. You just need to fix every angle so people will not exploit it to their advantage something which SE has never been able to successfully do... except maybe with AV. But really, this is mostly a moot point since a majority of people are done with the merit/exp rush that happened when ToA first came out.

Edit: To the OP: You cannot change jobs much anymore without causing drastic changes to everything else. If you reduce enmity on magic damage, you make many mobs and end game events much easier. If you reduce the MP cost of elemental spells, you make kited mobs like Kirin (who really is easy anyways) or KB that much easier. The problem is by changing the job, you effect anything the job does. The easier alternative is to create something new that the job or group would excel at that wouldn't exclude others.

Pimp blm with gear and merits > average blm with MB. So either the mobs are made weak enough that pimp blms can manaburn them for insane exp, or strong enough that average blms aren't good enough for the MB parties against them.

Or like I suggested, the only reliable damage is a MB. If it either resists heavily on non-bursted spells and/or the damage from a MB is far greater than normal, it would still force the players back into the "standard" party setup. I'm sure SE can code it enough to do that. They do something similar for Faf or at least I think they do (I mostly go WHM).

this game is now the land of confision.

or should i say the land of the kliques. the manabirn klique and the tp burn klique. we better be careful before we burn the exp house down. im curently lvling up my blm with a friend cause its time for a new job to add varaity to my jobs. at 46 i doubt i have enough exp on that job to really have any valid input to this thread but nuke resistance in comparison to enfeeb resists when i was lvling my rdm at the time seem about the same. i have to wait till i get in the upper lvls to see where this goes. then i'll have more first hand experience with what you peoples are talkin about.

Off topic: What's your friend's job and are you duoing? >.>

Faf is the pimp blms doing fine without the MB, and the gimps needing a MB or ES to hit for 50%/100%. There's also thunder/double thunder weather often, another boost to magic accuracy, and the main element used on Faf.

That just raises another problem, though; If the mob is THAT resistant to physical and non-MB'ed magic, then you pretty much NEED to kill it via MBing off the first SC or the fights automatically take much longer than it would if the party fought just about anything else, and the chain will die very easily if relying solely on SC and/or MBs working correctly. If more than one MB is needed, people will demand fast SCs - such a thing would only benefit SAMs.

Theres also the question of just how much it'd take to down said mob - to rely entirely on MB damage makes it incredibly hard to say. Requiring too many MBed Tier IVs and such means the kills take too long and wouldn't be worth fighting unless they gave rediculous amounts of XP*, but it'd hafto be an absolutely insane amount to be worth the effort considering the amount of downtime needed in between so many tier IVs and such.

On top of that, there's things such as Souleater, Formless Strikes, Spirits Within and even Enspells that could give melee viable ways of downing these mobs if their HP were too low...One could make the mob resist those too, but that's really going out of one's way to have this mob entirely favor BLMs.

* - Getting back to this...if you make the mob give an insane amount of XP, there's a good shot people will pop on jobs like NIN/RDM, pop up enspell and toss Bio on it or something of the sort. Then they'd wind up getting over 1000xp in a single kill. You could give the mob auto-regen to negate DoTs, but then that makes the BLM's job of nuking it all that much more difficult.
