Relic Weapons just aren't that great...

Well, that's not that overpowered. Three relic WS's can't make 2 Light SC's. Relic weapons have a "Light2/Darkness2" effect

Distortion > Darkness1 > Darkness 2 work.

However, fi you use Relic weapons, you can't do

Dakness 1 > Darkness 2

All it'll do is only Darkness 2

Acheavment points sounds like the most childish thing 360 could do. and stuped. Perhaps the people assigning points don't even play the games.

How do you compair the dmg between relic and best non-relic?

have to add:
base dmg range from both
damage from WS
damage from light/dark chain (relic dose 1.5x light/drk chain when done on a light/dark chain)
the 5% damage increase from magic bursts. (every consecutive light/dark chain adds 5% magic damage on magic burst).

Add everything in, and relic are somewhat better, if not quite a bit better when you count everything to gether

Base damage range is always at least a little better, though in many cases it isn't any more than "a little" better.

Damage from relic WS is in many (all?) cases *less* than damage from the weapon type's best non-relic WS. Damage from light/dark chain is, I would assume (because that's how it works on all non-relic skillchains), based on the damage from the aforementioned closing WS. The 1.5x does somewhat compensate for the WS itself, but all in all it's not a huge increase, but probably closer to a wash. (And a decrease if a skillchain *isn't* made.) MB increase is of course nice.

Point being, those *are* valid points if you *do* skillchain and especially if you MB. And if you're using a relic weapon for the purpose of damage output, I would assume you set up the rest of the group so you *are* doing SC/MB, because otherwise you're kinda wasting the potential.

They definitely don't shine nearly as much for WS spam: the only relevant points in that situation are the base damage difference, and occasional 3x damage.

So two additional points to be factored into your list: One is what I brought up: is it in fact actually going to be *used* for that skillchaining? The other, which is very much worth mentioning: what job(s) can use it? What sort of melee gear can they use, what skill in that weapon type do they have, and is the job's overall purpose in a party as such that it could or *should* be meleeing and WSing and skillchaining in the first place? A Mandau is, after all, crap in the hands of a BRD, but awesome in the hands of a THF.

Guttler is the best axe for BST, and the weaponskill gives a hidden effect of a high increae in intimidation rate. The weaponskill is also as effective as Rampage.

Er, Onslaught causes a +10% attack boost, and accuracy down on the target.

Guttler is also good, because it's like an upgraded Juggernaut. -10 Attack for +7 weapon damage. On a job that has no native Attack increases, that's great.

The choke effect is also pretty decent, in that since it lowers the enemies VIT, it allows for virtually the same effect as a STR boost - but everyone can enjoy it. It's also DoT, so thats more added damage.

However, that all comes down to personal goals/achievements when it is certainly something out of the norm (ie. Claustrum, Mjollnir - neither of which I've seen on this server yet).
I've seen Claustrum on our server. Can't remember the dude's name though.

FFXI has by far the worst achievements in any 360 game.

All retail games can only have 1,000 points. Unless they release DLC, which can add 250 more.

It isn't really about difficulty, but allotted point totals. Dead Rising has a shit ton of Achievements. EDF2017 only has 10. Dead Risings more difficult achivements are worth significantly less than EDF's.

or be one of a small group of people with 100 gs for the first 3 years of this game

You also forget that you dont have to use Final Heaven with Spharai. You're free to chose whichever WS you want. In a TP burn, you could still use Asuran Fists, which would do more damage then Asuran Fists with Destroyers.

And the WS's are slightly weaker then the strongest non-relic WS, because of the added effect. Which, in some cases, make up for it. Such as the Haste effect and Drain-effect on Apocalypse's WS, or the Store TP boost from Tachi: Kaiten.

Its has also been discovered that mobs tend to be intimidated a lot more after the WS is used with Gutler. Thus the "hidden effect"

What about Excalibur? The additional effect of 25% your HP seems pretty sexy, and how is Knights of Round as far as damage goes?

Knights of Round itself is rather bad like most Relic WS's

Which is why every relic weapon aside from Great Katana and Dagger aren't good, including saphari.

Excalibur is pretty broken though. the Additional Effect damage seemingly ignores magic damage resistance, as in Besieged, it does full damage despite a -80% penalty on magic damage.

I never said the WS itself is good. I said the relic weapon is good. There's a difference.

I mentioned that the Amanomakuro is good because of its WS. I never mentioned Spharai being good for its WS.

Except that it's insignificantly better for DoT, so when it's failing for weapon skills as well, you get: not good.

Because a relic weapon fails only because its WS doesn't deal more damage then its strongest non-relic WS.
