As someone mentioned earlier the rep. bar is just a novelty but that some seem to stroke their ego over. A group of friends just go on a rate up spree and some take it as, "Hey my point is more legitimate than you with less rep. dots." Also I have seen more pathetic behavior by people that actually have a distinguishable reputation bar than by the ones that don't.

I honestly don't see why people use the rep. bar as a reminder of a particular poster being retarded. The rep. system is seriously flawed and needs to be removed since it is left open to abuse. If you think someone is a retard and need a red dot or two to remind you of such, then whose really retarded?

No. Leave the rep system. If people dont like it, they can leave, or stop posting garbage.

If you want to cry about your red dots, do it in LS and watch how quickly you get laughed at.

Also, lets say you do get rid of it. Good luck moderating all the posts in every topic that says "Your fuckin stupid" or something like that. Flamebait will be at an all time high.

Taking away the rep system wont stop people from voicing how dumb they think you are in your topics. (Generally speaking, not you Miros ; ; )
 
I vote no for removel.

While most of us know who is who on the board there are some people who are new or don't visit the site much from them to see who is clearly Not trusted or Do not know what they are talkin about. Rep is a quick snap shot of the person and for the most part ppl with red dot(s) should not be trusted or the information they posted might be wrong.

Somehow I feel rate downs comin from red dotters. The abuse by these kinda ppl is the only problem I have with the system if some of the flaws can be fixxed it would make the system solid.
 
Keep it. Because while there are some people who spam posts to get rep, theres others who earn rep by making quality posts. And its easy to tell which is which.

Look at Jamal for instance. He's a dick, but he has a massive bar. Why? Because whenever he posts, people are forced to agree with him because his arguments are valid. He gets rated up on content rather than simply because he posted.

While half the arguments against the system are somewhat valid, the other half are by people who simply don't like being called out on their actions.


Also, if you keep the system, I'll show you where you can get an awesome hat just like mine. Then we can be cooler than Jesus together.

People who like the rep system have a good rep, people that don't like it have a bad rep, people that don't care have a mediocre rep.

Just leave it the fuck alone.
 
Leave the rep system in place. It has merely cosmetic effects on the functioning of the board, and most of the people seem to enjoy it.

It pains me enormously to agree with Hellstorm, but if abuse of the system is so worrying, a change to a level 1 point up/down per rate regardless of user e-peen bar would probably be the way to go.

That having been said, I think I need to go wash my brain out with iodine or something.
 
I vote yes but not because I believe it should be gone. I hate jerks who abuse it.

My example is, there is a dickweed who doesn't even play the game anymore. Sure it's fine they want to post here and interact. But then they used their giant e peen to insult or harass people. It makes it more bothersome and annoying.

I rated down a jerkoff a few weeks ago because I didn't care for something he posted. He went and looked up a months old post just to rate me down in retaliation. Sure rate down now but then he doesn't have to answer for being a shit head where he will get fewer party invites or whatever.

The reason this question is being posed in the first place is because the system is indeed broke probably beyond repair and morons ruin the fun for others.

I like the reputation system because I like getting feedback on my posts. The first thing I check when I login to QCDN is my user CP to see if anyone liked anything I'd written, but I think it's causing more harm than good. A person's post should be judged by its content and not by its author. While I don't really want to get rid of the rep system, I think QCDN was better w/o it.
