Multi-Plat Resident Evil 5

So... For me the most important thing was addressed i believe.. The controles feel much smoother then the demo version. I dont think it was just me, as Libara agreed.

The game is very up and down.. The story is great so far, about 1 chapter from the end. The weapon choice and use is great.

The single player is almost unplayable for me tho... I do feel its because the Coop is so fluid and just feels right. When you go back to single player you get frustrated by how ignorant the AI partner is..

She seriously becomes nothing more then a walking inventory box. Its a huge problem because team work is stressed and makes the game feel right. What a shame.

The coop feature is worth the money by itself so it more then makes up for the horrid AI team mate. I am having a blast with Libara.

I was pretty much banking on buying this game, but I really don't know after reading all these reviews.

Which would you add to your collection first, Killzone 2 or RE5? Not going to invest in both atm...

KZ2.

RE5 would be a rent for me if it was not for the coop. KZ2 i can play for a long while even by myself..

Hmm. Well I really like the 1 player game so far. There are times when the AI does piss me off because she'll shoot at a zombie while I'm in the way, effectively wasting ammunition. Which is another thing that I have a problem with. It's way too damn easy to run out of ammo. x_x I find myself running out or low for the nearly every long fight.

Still, I've been enjoying the game so far. And despite my ammo problems I'm still able to make it as far as I have gotten. Judging from the cutscenes I've unlocked so far, I'd guess I'm about 1/3 way through the game already. Though to be honest, I hope that's not correct. I am a little dissapointed that the enemies thus far have pretty much been RE4 clones. Though, the Big Man Majini was pretty funny to see the first time. That's a faaaat dude. lol

I'm still hoping for some new enemies. So far the only new things have been the boss B.O.W.s and the truck ride (which didn't really feel like a RE game element, but whatever, I barely survived it and it was still fun at least).

I'm just now entering the marshland area. So.. not sure where that is story wise, but I guess I'll find out.

One thing I do like and think is kind of cool is that this is the first Resident Evil game that actually displays all the weapons you're carrying on your character's body. That is badass.

PS. Chris takes steriods. o.o (He's frick'n HUUGE)

I'm really enjoying it so far.

And I don't really know what you're complaining about with the AI. It's been fine for me, she hasn't been in the way once, and she's avoided all the traps so far. Even the huge focused sunlight traps incinerating anything in its way in the temple she's stuck to the wall any time they are getting close. And she hasn't been wasting ammo nor healing items for me. The only thing about her that's annoyed me so far is that she automatically gives me ammunition for my weapons if I have free space in my inventory, which can be a pain in the ass if she's holding a red herb and I want to combine a green with a red herb.

What's your favourite weapons so far? I'm loving the rifle, and its pretty much my #1 weapon on everything but variation 3 Las Plagas and the bosses. The Lickers go down FAST as well with it.

Hmm, I'm not as far as you are. But yeah, for me she'll freaking shoot while I'm standing in the way and sometimes she'll be in my way when I want to shoot (she moves, but it takes a few seconds longer than I'd like, however, when I'm in the way she doesn't stop...). I haven't had any other problems. She's usually been great on giving me shotgun ammo, which is my favorite gun so far.

I haven't tried the rifles since I didn't have the room in my inventory I gave both to Sheva. My favorite gun is the shot gun, I always love shotguns... except in real life.

I haven't really had any other types of problems from her though, she uses healing items as needed and has given me appropriate ammo. She's also reacted to the environments pretty well.

Well, at the part I'm in, there's zombies using guns and bazookas, so the rifle's great for taking them out from across the room... They're great for Lickers too (they throw their tongue at you and pierce you with it). 3 shots to the head with the rifle and they're dead, and you can start shooting when they're at the other side of the room, and they fucking HURT when they get close to you. The only guys I use is rifle, magnum (for bosses and type-3 Las Plagas) and Shotgun. The rest I give to Sheva to use.

When they come in a group though, the shotgun is better (or grenades or whatever you want to use for mass-slaughter)

Oh, and if you don't want to bother with her standing in the way when you shoot, turn off "Partner react to shots".

I'd be willing to throw 0 in with 4 as far as stupid resident evil games go. If you are playing the PS1 versions, you probably aren't going to get scared, just because of how ugly the games have gotten. If you play the GC remakes of any of them, especially Resident Evil, and you don't get scared ever, i take my hat off to you.

Yea the GC re-release of the first Res. Evil on a big TV with the lights out, I couldn't play more than 20 mins at a time, was just too intense. They did a fantastic job of snazzing the graphics up

With only 4 guns left to max out... I would have to say my fav gun is the D.Eagle with unlimited ammo.. Just beautifull.

The bow would be great if there were some sort of reticle.

I'm finished. I'm kind of in a daze right now from playing all day yesterday and today so I'll comment later, but over all great game as usual.

I don't know what it is. I haven't been able to get myself playing the game again. I haven't played it since Friday evening and I just.. don't feel like playing it for some reason. Guess I must have other stuff on my mind.

I kind of felt that too. I don't know how to judge it. It was a great game. It's clear now that Resident Evil is truly an action game now. Re4 had more horror then this one.

Re5 to me was just the finishing story of Chris and Wesker.

Played for two hours tonight. Not bad, the controls took some getting used to, but I still have a problem staying straight while I'm running.

I've only got a handful of guns so far. The second machine gun and the shotgun are great. I have more machine gun rounds than I know what to do with. They seem to drop a lot more than handgun rounds, which Sheva hoards anyway.

Does this game have treasures you can combine like re4? Or can I just start selling all these square-cut gems I've found?

Also, the knife is useless. It takes like four hundred slices to kill something.

I'm hoping to give the co-op a whirl tomorrow.

The knife is tactical. If you slice their knee they go down and grab it giving you a chance to melee hit them.

There's no combining of treasures, just sell them.

I started playing it last night and got to the end of 2-1. It took about 20-30 minutes of fighting the controls before it became second nature, and then I started enjoying myself. It's lacking a bit in that Resident Evil feel, but I have no doubt I'll be playing through it multiple times and upgrading my weapons.

There's a GameFAQs thread with a bunch of people screaming about how G4's XPlay gave it "only" three stars out of five, but that sounds about right to me. It's a decent action game, but not a life-changing event.

Ooooooohhhh. That makes sense. I was head-slicing, thinking head=dead. Thanks.

I've seen this game in a whole new light when your playing with a friend. It's freaking amazing, 2x more fun.

I second this.. I almost hate the game on single player. In coop i can not stop playing.

I finished the game up on Professional today and finalized my achievement whoring... 1000/1000 woot.

I think mercenary mode can keep me busy as it seems very difficult.

The single player is alright, but the co-op with a friend is so damn great. You can set things up, cover each other, neither of you is needlessly wasting ammo. Everybody wins.

So the weapons you get when you fully upgrade guns... Are those for any gun, or can you only fully upgrade certain ones to unlock the others?
