I couldn't find the rl section I think it was merged with off-topic or I'm just too stupid to find it now, but for those that don't know Kayleen has passed on, I was told it happened on this Christmas Eve and learned of it today from one of her friends.

Hardly a conformist or socially tame(I say that with respect and a laugh), she was a genuine person and a great friend at that and of course because she had those attributes with others I can't think of right now she goes first, she had been struggling with cancer for awhile I remember talking to her about it before I deployed and that she had inoperable cancer since it was too close to some of her organs, endured multiple surgeries because of tumor removal and fought bravely with it for the past 3-4 years as far as I known her to have it.

It's a great feeling when you think of it before you die, how much you're loved by the people that care for you. You're probrably one of the last genuine people left and I'm glad you can finally rest.

I struggle to find the right words in times such as this. I didn't know Kayleen very well at all, but from what I did know of her she was sweet. It's sad to hear someone struggling with living alone, and gives only an opportunity to appreciate what we all have.

I hope her family and friends get through this time with some relief and hope in mind that she is finally at peace and think only of the good times.

Very sorry to hear this news.

Two weeks before her 25th birthday :( Sorry to see her go, she was always so much fun. She liked making fun of things as much as I did, I won't forget all the time we joked around on vent. We still talked occasionally via facebook. Hopefully she's found some peace, now that she's done with all of the pain of the surgeries and treatments.

Damn.. I thought she had a successful surgery the first time I knew she had one back in '08.

Me and Kayleen were very close back then but then had a falling out at the end of the year over something really stupid. I haven't heard anything from her since, but the time we shared together was genuinely a lot of fun back on and off of FFXI.

I'm very sad to see her go and I will always keep a hold onto the drawings that she's done for me. I had no idea she was still sick.

She had a very rough life and it had to have only been even more hard on her with this cancer. I do hope she's finally found her peace though, I really do. Rest in peace Kay. I hope you know you are missed. I can't forget you.

It was actually thanks to QCDN that I even met her. Back when we had a fan art section she had made a post showing some of her artwork and that she was taking requests to draw people's characters. So sure enough I tracked her down one day and she agreed to draw Ecks. We fast became friends after that encounter and were good friends for the next two years. Kayleen was one of the reasons I continued to play FFXI for as long as I did. Man, this is so unexpected but thanks for letting us know Khidir.

I'm very sorry to hear about this. Didn't know her very well either, but the few encounters I had were very pleasant........sucks to know someone like that was suffering through so much at the hands of cancer. May she rest in peace and my condolences to her close friends and family.

Kay and I weren't that close but I did consider us as friends back in the day. As sad as I am to know that she's past on, I'm happy to know she's finally found peace.

Rest in paradise Kayleen. I'll always treasure the picture you made for me, DW, and Hitaru:

I haven't logged into QCDN in over two years, but after learning about Kayleen's death, I felt compelled to. She was a remarkable artist, with a quirky sense of humor. We would talk on Vent all the time, not just about FFXI but life, the universe and everything else. Despite all the bad luck life had handed her during the year she was diagnosed, she continued to be so outgoing and positive. Sometimes we would privately chat about her health, but everything seemed to be going well. I had actually followed her into Aion, but shortly quit after losing interest in the game. We would occassionally talk on MSN. I wish I had known she was going through remission again. It doesn't seem fair that someone like her had her life cut so short.

Oh no, this is definitally a sad read. :(

I hadn't played a lot with her but we had our encounters and a lot of fun with them.
Rest in peace Kay!!

I was just told this recently...and again, what can I say? Kay was my homegirl...we talked about most things...but like most MMO friends we fell out of touch.

May she rest in peace...the world has lost an amazing and talented young individual.

I didn't really know her well but did get to play with her a little in dynamis and chatted with her on here. She was a fun person and I thought her art was awesome. I am sad to hear about her passing but at least she isn't suffering anymore.

Aw, I'm sorry to hear that. She'll be missed, I'm sure.

Randomly decide to check this site since my mind wanders to FFXI still sometimes, and I see this. Damn, that sucks. RIP Kay. Thanks for the fun times.

I was in her LS for a bit...

sadmake :(

I check on this board to see if its still alive and i read this. :(

I met her through ecks and hung out in her LS for a good while and got to know her. she was always talkative and i also believed she had beaten the cancer after her first surgery. she always "lovingly" refered to her tumor as her cancer baby. Always trying to make people laugh.

I'm sorry to hear she is gone.
