RMT Countermeasures

Hmmm, has any1 ever thought that maybe S.E themselves BOUGHT some gil, find out who sells it, terminate that account, and then resell the gil?
Sounds do-able and a good way to find out who's selling gilz

Let us not forget that this is their creation.. I"m certain they can trace it and monitor as they please...

so the question remains, how far down the rabbit hold did they go in this sting operation of theirs, and what's next.. they say they have rmt countermeasures in place, and are still investigating. I'm eager to find out what happens ... and I'm hoping this is just the tip of the iceberg. ^^

I'm wondering if Square-Enix is not really doing anything purposely. They control everything that exists on the servers. They can see everyone's characters, and probably everything about that character. Maybe they like keeping RMT cuz who knows how many accounts they get from all those gilsellers that pay their monthly fees. SE = $$$.

You know what I want to know?

How much money roughly, was introduced into server economies by the Padded Cap disaster?

10bil per server, perhaps?

Remember, the only way money is officially "Minted" is by vendoring to NPC, and beastman gil drops/mug. The big influx that really destroyed server economies was the padded cap sell, because it was minting money. Hundreds of thousands of gill were minted this way. By nuking excess gill off of the servers, SE may be finally trying to combat the effects of the padded cap market.

It doesn't matter how much the RMT have, it matters how much the server itself has. Camping a Land NM may net the RMT a pair of Strider boots but not the money used to buy them. At this time there is no way to really generate money in any quantity.

I wonder if this was genius, really. SE could only do so much via fee (AH tax, dynamis fee, chocobo fee) to remove gill from the server. Its not like they would nuke it out of legit player's inventories. However by destroying the RMT money mules, they removed tons of gil without upsetting any legit player in the playerbase.

Thoughts?

Please explain the padded cap thing.. I'm not aware of that..

Wasn't it said that these gil sellers were able to manifest the gil?
It seems they found a glitch in the game that enabled them somehow in trading or something to create the gil out of thin air.... If that is the case, then all they did was remove a "portion" of the excess gil on each server.

I wish more information was available. As of yet the only lowering of prices on the AH are people selling their goods to take advantage of the price hikes.. and undercutting each other in order to get their gil while they still can. We're all hoping prices will drop remarkably, and settle back to "normal" but what is normal, remember it's all governed by what people are willing to pay. My hopes are that now that gil buyers are unable to buy as much gil, and that the people willing to spend exorbant amounts on items, won't be able to. Also, that prices will drop to more reasonable levels so players such as myself will be able to attain the gear they've had their eyes on....

my suggestion is that SE create and modify more gear to be rare/ex...

take gil out of the equation, cept for certain items/gear and our every day consumables such as sneak oils, and foods...

there are many items that crafters need to be able to create the gear we all treasure, however if we can have gear outside of end game and NM material that is a little less comparable to those, that maybe we can all be more satisfied with our economy..

Padded cap explanation:

Fisherman would fish up rusty caps, synth them into padded caps with a light crystal, and vendor them. They vendored for a lot, 6k or so (not sure on the exact number.) By sitting in rabao and fishing up hundreds of rusty caps and vendoring them you could make big money. This money was all 'minted' from the NPCs and drove inflation up bigtime by putting more and more gil into circulation.

The RMT at the time had fishbots synthing these 24-7, there were at least 20 of them in rabao at all times, not to mention port windy/sandy/bastok.

EDIT: SE's counter to this was to nerf the padded cap vendor price to worthless, but not until the damage was already done.

They did this with 3 pieces of gear, I've claimed lizzie 4 times since I got my boots, and 3 times i lost the drop cause I couldn't hold another one. I didn't even feel bad cause no one else was around. One time I invited someone to my party but there was no drop so he didn't get it.

the excuse will be "i'll go when there is less campers" well, there ain't none now, but I can gaurantee you more boots are bought and sold on AH than there are campers at LL.

There is a lot of rare/ex gear that the majority of players already won't go after, why create more? How many lvl 60+ BLMs dont have a Moldy yet? How many 65+ PLDs don't have jelly ring? How many 40+ PLDs don't have intruders ring? How many NINs have the r/e katana from dangruf, or chakram from Konschtat?

The list of R/E gear that is superior to stuff you can buy is enormous, but no one takes the time to get them.

The real solution is for SE to quit being a bunch of pussies and take control of their game back.

PS whatever happened to the price of those items they made R/E?

Archers from 600-3mil
PCC 20m-30m
Boots 500k-2m
Pin 500k-3m

Yup, that worked out nicely lol. Maybe a pacifier for everyone who complains about how hard gil is to obtain so they stop whining like little babies.

2 weeks back net worth over a million (3mil if you count Boots), no start off cash although I've been offered by many people. Last weekend I made 500k in 45 min as a lvl 27 war. Backed up with another 300k the next day.

People that play this game been pampered by their parents too long and are too dumb to figure out simple concepts of making gil.

If they want to sue the companies, they just need to get the guy who sued the Tobacco Company and won.

I mean....wtf...he won.

hehe

hey everyone (if you still read this thread) i'm sure none of you remember me, but! just to let you know:

Quetz isnt the only one getting hit by this, and you cant use a hack/exploit to just 'make' gil lol... i know some people <_<... it's not possible... lol but there are other tricks we can do that shall not be named =D... if gil is 'made' like counterfit or through a program, SE pics up on it immediately... and... they dont know as much as you think they might, but they know more than you would expect if you dont think they know much, and i doubt they would ever buy gil to catch gil sellers, but who knows... GMs have their own version of hacks (ie Speed hack, bots, teleporting bots, etc)

Fenrir got hit by this hard... and it's obvious gil sellers are little to none yay! =D... but as for those that already have the items arent so happy but oh well... Ie O. Kote Price History- 8,000,000... 7,000,000... 6,500,000... and it continues to drop ending with 3,000,000 <_<... this is all almost over night too. and other common items like the O kote (that were botted/hit up by gil sellers) continue to drop dramatically

P.S. Shout outs to Vang, Ecks, and other old school homies

Stay Classy Quetzalcoatl ~_^
