Roles in Campaign

There are a few solutions to your problem other than using /mage /dnc. You could stand near a smn. Smn in campaign is a beast. I would use my avatars to AoE spam cure players. I also would AoE the mobs with by trusty thunderspark too. Using sublimation, elemental siphon and spirit taker would have me in a constant flow of mp. I easily would cap exp in any fight.
Another option is find yourself a suicidal sch. Sch can use rapture, divine seal, acension <sp sorry> and cure 4 to boost hp recovery well over 1.4k. This nets your sch a lot of points, but only if there are npcs to heal. It also is instant death for the sch. I also have used whm/smn and had garuda AoE cure people around me while I was fighting. Small things that helped the whole group while I was having fun.

Now what REALLY makes me mad is when assholes frigging attack monsters I have slept. They see 4 monsters together, only 1 moving, then attack not one but all the sleeping monsters which gets me killed. They were slept for a reason. Mind you most times I am sleeping monsters is to save a group of us from being killed.

Some of those people do it for kicks unfortunately >_< I've GMed a few people for that.

It's probably already been said (and if so I missed it) but...

I think that the two sides of the argument here are gonna be melee's and WHM. As a WHM, nothing frustrates me more when I do something like when I go campaigning or skilling up and people expect me to heal.

In campaign, I think WHM's should heal to an extent, but only because they get EXP from it. I like doing campaign for some variation. If I wanted to heal people, I'd just join a meripo or level-sync party.

Only problem is SE made it that you get more exp meleeing than you do standing back and healing, raising etc. I think healing exp caps per battle at a certain amount and melee is ongoing. (least it seems that way for me trying many different jobs there)

When I go to Campaign as WHM (or any other job for that matter), my intention is to solo and get the most exp possible. If i wanted to cure people, I'd just get an exp party. That being said if i see someone in trouble, I will try to cure/paralyna/whatever them but i'm not going out of my way nor am i obligated to. The only obligation i make on myself is to raise others during and after battles.

My best suggestion is to bring someone that wants to heal you and always carry a Reraise just in case.

As Wagewar above me, when I Campaign I go /nin dual wield clubs and solo.
I will not watch the person getting hit, in my opinion when they feel like tanking I assume they have their own way to stay alive.

Of course if you ask politely I will toss you a cure V occasionally.
But do not expect me to watch your back, I'm busy enough watching my own.

Quoted for more emphasis, as people still don't seem to grasp this fact

Its all about being respectful and curteous really. I have yet to get a "no" when I ask for a heal if I'm dangerously low on HP. Trust me, that happens even when you go /dnc or /whm at times.

I think this might just be an NA thing. I campaign in JP primetime mostly and it's never an issue.

No offense but that is just a big pile of nonsense.

Either you are bringing a jobcombo that survives easier, you bring a personal healer or can easily heal yourself.
Being a European myself I play in JP prime time a lot and trust me, the Japanese mages also happily whack stuff with their clubs, staves and swords and don't care either if you are dying.

As you say, ask nicely and thou shall recieve.
Demanding however and I will gladly respond with a "Fuck you, enjoy the dirt!" and /dance4 on your corpse until you auto-homepoint.

Lazy

I am too lazy to start a flame, but it fits in with this flame.

Xarc land of the imps, demons and MORONS. Ok we are in campaign doing union RL day 2. This big ass dragon comes in while people are being owned by the boss demon. Being the cool rdm/whm I am, I sleep 2 and gravity it. I spend a good 5+ minutes curing people and keeping this damn thing slept just so we do not all wipe. Wouldn't you know someone walks up and FUCKING HITS IT. So I sleep 2 it....they seem me sleeping it and casting gravity on it. I at this point am kiting it because my sleep timers are down and I have hate from 5+ minutes of playing stay asleep dragon. I sleep it again and wouldn't you know the same guy attacks it! I send him a tell telling him he is mpking people. He says...I tried to turn when I saw you casting sleep... COME ON you see a pile of dead people a monster not moving and 1 moving... WHY ATTACK THE SLEEPING ONE???? He was not auto following the dragon. He stood still until it was reslept, then HIT IT!!!!

Same shit in Jungar. Some boob brings 3 orcs to where I am fighting and dies infront of the group of 4. Being nice I sleep 1 and 2 and gravity. Figure I can handle one and keep the others asleep. I even run the 1 up the ramp so I can see the other two when they wake up.... This drk walks up and WAKES THEM UP. Seriously why do you need to attack 2 monsters at the same time? I tried to resleep them....So I get my ass trounced without so much as goblin grease to ease the pain because people would not take hate or turn off it or cure me. Thank goodness for reraise. We win, the treasure drops... wouldn't you know the asshole who killed me was in the union I was in and won the lots on the treasure.

There needs to be some way to see who is in your union. A way to talk to them so people are not killing the people they want alive for good treasure. PLEASE if you see it asleep DO NOT ATTACK IT unless you can rip hate off the sleeper. WHen we sleep monsters it is because we are TRYING to keep all of you alive.

That was me. I wasn't trying to MPK anyone, I just didn't see you sleeping it until like 10 seconds before you sent me a tell, then you loaded on my screen. I told you I didn't see you, don't know why you don't believe me. There was a lot of people/mobs, and you didn't load. And I didn't stand still, was probably lag on your end, because I was following it around.

@Keryan, your post is the very reason I will not sleep any mobs in campaign at all. It seems that if a mob is NOT moving at all, that people can't wrap their minds around the concept that the mob is sleeping, and if it's sleeping, SOMEONE must have slept it, and in most cases the sleeper is a mage that really doesn't want that mob whacking him or her.

I've been killed too many times because a slept mob gets pricked in the ass with a dagger for 3 damage.

Sounds like me in Dynamis sometimes when I see another mage go down because someone pokes a slept mob while it hasn't been voked by a tank.

As good as your intentions are, Campaign knows no teamwork.
Nobody but you, and maybe if you are partied the party you are in knows that a mob is slept.
Anyone else will just look for the next target to autoattack and play with whatever bodypart they feel like playing with until their TP hits 100+.

Campaign for me also means the following:
Stay close to crowds, fight only that what is fought by several other people.

Is something decides to poke me, run into a crowd of (N)PCs in hopes some other poor soul picks it off my back.
If not, tough luck I'll biter the dust!
But for that I make damn sure I have reraise on at all times.

Campaign is a selfish game, be selfish.

Sleep at your own risk, other can have all effects off and all chat filters on, or have lag issues.

-.- no I warned it was slept on many occasions. Everytime this happens it is one or two people. In jungar the player actually said you're welcome to waking them up. In Xarc those monsters are a bitch. Why would you try to solo it? There needs to be a way to talk to your union people. I was killed by people in my union a few times now. You find out after when everyone is lotting the loot. Has anyone else noticed that 1 to 3 people will have 950+ lots on almost all the drops?

I don't like the union thing at all. I've gotten a few items, so, it's not "bitterness". What I dislike is the sudden crash it's causing to the economy.

Prime example: Peiste skins on Titan were 45k just yesterday. This morning, 1-3k with a ton of them up.

I remember when I was whm/nin in... one of the quadav zones, there were only like 3 people there at the time and everyone was soloing their own mob. I grabbed one of my own to solo, and would repose as needed to recover, one of the other people (a bst) decided to put his pet on my mob while it was slept and I was resting, I decided to keep myself alive until his pet got hate then just let it kill his pet (he was fighting another mob at the time). basically through some events that I still don't completely understand he got hate from my mob and died. I let him stay that way since he almost got me killed.

I'm happy this is the case, maybe the price of items for the new gobbie bags will start dropping a bit more.

On a second note, yeah sleep mobs at your own risk, Campaign brings out the retard in everyone. Sad to say, but its the truth.
