Rumor expansion for FFXI ? : SE trademarks "Blood of Bahamut"

This is a long shot and a blind guess based on a recent Square Enix trademark for “Blood of Bahamut”. Bahamut Lagoon was a late Squaresoft developed Super Famicom game that blended a strategy RPG grid based combat with traditional 2D turn based battles. On second thought, the gameplay is kind of like ASH, at least in the fighting phase. If you haven’t seen Bahamut Lagoon before take a look at this clip.

A trademark doesn’t guarantee Square Enix is working on Bahamut Lagoon remake or anything of the sort. Blood of Bahamut could be a subtitle for an existing or to be announced Square Enix game. This could be the name for their untitled next-gen MMORPG or something in the Final Fantasy Fables series. Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo and the Blood of Bahamut. No, that’s not right. Hmm… this is a tough mystery to solve. What do you think Blood of Bahamut will be used for?

maybe it is going to be Bahamut Lagoon remake , maybe expansion for FFXI or maybe not , with TGS drawing close ... only time will tell

Squeenix as well as other companies trademark stuff all the time, so in my head it doesn't mean jacksquat. I try not to get my hopes up lol.
 
Maybe it is an XI based CGI movie! *lawl* Though I still hold hope that one day they do make one.

That is a fantastically interesting idea. I would most definitely watch something like this.
 
Definitely fits the "Blank of Blank" naming scheme, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's an XI expansion.

Movie would be entertaining, but it'd be tricky to balance the involvement in the known plot with appeal to new audiences.

Actually, SE did state SMN would get new summonable avatars. And yes, that is plural. This is before the ToAU expansion, and they did say SMN would get at least 1 in that expansion. So if its 1 in ToAU, that means at least 1 other after that one, possibly from WoTG.

It would be awesome if SMN would get Cait Sith, but I somehow doubt that as he's a major character in the expansion. Although he DO fit the size (Carbuncle anyone?).

As stated though, Odin and Alexander are the only ones from ToAU and both seem either way too important or too powerful to place in a players hand.

I would agree that maybe Cait Sith is a possible new summon, his powers are mostly concealed so far and although he does play a major role, it wouldnt stop SE from handing SMNs his power. Look at Diabolos for example, not as major but he plays a role in creating dynamis and CoP storlyline and the final boss in Dynamis Tavnazia.
 
they stated in recent interviews earlier this year, expicitly, taht there woudl be avatars for SMNs soon. still waiting .
 
The year isn't over yet lol and neither is the expansion... give it time... im sure SMN will have a new Avatar come end of WoTG
