I'm in Bastok giving a linkpearl to a friend, and I get an invite from a white mage. Desperate to get out of the Valkrum Dunes school of Hard Knocks, I accept it. I outpost warp and send a tell back to the WHM to invite me... I see "Peregrine invites you join their party"

My stomach sinks, my palms get sweaty. How can this be, I think to myself. We first gather at the cliffside snipper camp, around I/J-8. Then... it all goes wrong...

Reminds me of someone's bazaar comment, something along the lines of "PLD/WHM is the best tank ever, cause they can silena themselves!"

I talk to the guy on a regular basis, you were talking shit to him the minute you got in the party. I even told him that you were going to end up flaming him and lookie lookie surprise surprise.

Its the dunes man... try having fun at those levels, it makes them more bearable. It's not really on the same severity level of a WHM subbing BRD to limbus lol...

His seacom is really that funny? You were being a dick to him. Had you asked em to go back and change it rather than coming off as a dickhead immediately I'm sure he would've done so. I don't blame him for not wanting you around. Your screenshots are proof enough that you were doing all you could to provoke a reaction.

sam/whm is fine in the dunes. melee/whm in general is fine in the dunes. anything/anything is fine in the dunes.

Especially since you can rest and not lose tp with signet, melee/whm is nice, especially if you can't trust random whms to be doing their job right at dune levels.

As long as it doesn't become a habit at higher levels, whm is just fine in dunes.

I don't really know who he was, seeing as I have rarely visited these forums in the past. However, as he started to be an asshole about me questioning the camp changed I asked my LS if they had any experience with the guy. Needless to say I was informed he was a bitch. Upon him telling me my rep was on the way (After me just arriving and all.) I decide to inform him of his assholery and stupidity.

Yeah, his seacom is funny. He came off as the "I have 5 jobs at level 75, therefor I'm better than you" kind of asshole, and his seacom furthers that.
And no, I doubt he would've changed. Most likely he would've argued about how great it is and how he can poisona himself.

I thought you asked your LS who he was after you were already in the party? Why were you worried when you saw the invite come? Clearly you had some sort of hearsay back history on the guy if your 'initial feeling' was bad.

It really doesn't seem like he's being rude in the screenshots. If he does come off rude its a reaction to something sarcastic you said to him first.

Why don't you reply to Rappa and Daveman's posts. They seem to be contradicting the whole reason you are flaming Peregrine(SAM/WHM in the dunes). He kicked you for being rude, which I as well as many other people have done in the past. No reason you should have to stay in a party or tolerate someone who is disrespectful.

Also, He replaced me because I questioned his camp location, if you looked at the screenshots as you claim to have done, you would notice this.

I see no indication that you are upset about him kicking you in your OP. Your OP is focused on his SAM/WHM argument, the title is called SAM/WHM. I'd say that your dancing around the fact that you wanted to flame him for being a SAM/WHM because people didn't immediately agree with you and have a good laugh. I've skimmed the screenshots several times over and I don't even see where you mentioned you got kicked in the OP other than where you can infer he kicked you when he said your rep was ready and the screenshots went from party chat to tells.

/WHM isn't at all bad for the dunes, since most all other jobs give nothing beneficial in terms of JAs or traits pre-level 20. The loss of 1-2 STR isn't gonna kill your melee and if the mages pull hate so badly that multiple vokes are needed to save them, then that's a completely different issue entirely.

With all honesty, you totally lashed out at Pere in this case (who in fact acted much more reserved than I usually seen him be) and you sorta came off as an enormous elitist in the process. And...he's kinda right, what the crap point is there in camping at some spot with a Leecher that may agro with every pull as opposed to, you know...camping east, where the crabs are to begin with? =/ They're not exactly aggressive. On top of that, laughing at his wanting to be able to Poisona on top of cure is pretty...I dunno how to word it. Their 3hp/tic poison lasts quite a long time, and can often end people pretty effectively.

You weren't talking crap from the get go but you did, from the looks of your own screenshots, immediately begin to argue over something incredibly minor; it's not like moving east is a 1-way dropoff or such, and if the new camp didn't work you could have always moved back in just a few minutes. You even attempted to drag it on as long as you can before you were booted by picking a fight in regards to his subjob -

Did you ever think that if if he tossed a cure it'd mean less cures from the healer (and thus less enmity gained from the healer - often a large Dunes issue, especially when people feel compelled to chuck Cure IIs) and would be able to get that MP back in between pulls, quite possibly creating less downtime in the process because the healer has less MP they need to rest back themself? This kindof makes the need for provoke less needed, since rather than pull hate off the healer, they shouldn't be getting it in the first place. Sorry if you don't agree with this, this is just the logic behind subbing WHM in dunes and has proven to often work quite well.

Eventually, yeah, they can sub stuff like...
DRG for +10attack & jump at *20/DRG10
RNG for +10 accuracy at *20/RNG10
NIN for Dual Wield (muh) at *20/NIN10 and Utsusemi at *24/NIN12
WAR for Berserk at *30/WAR15

But before those times, those subjobs don't do all that much, with the exception of Provoke (and only if it's actually needed). But hell, subbing MNK at that level would do more for both damage and backup tanking that WAR would since you could just spam Boost for occasional hate pickups as well as the benefit of using it before WS and having access to Counter, if what you're wanting at that level is a better DD/tank.


Just because you argued with someone notorious doesn't make this an instant-win thread, sorry. =/
