SCH vs BLM

My post already says they are great to have ;|
Well, you also couldn't figure out that the 2xx when he mentioned all the different elemental magic gear SCH could use was a typo, so I wasn't sure if you actually knew ;p

Besides, more people read this thread then only you :p

Speaking of which; You don't want to outright replace every BLM with a SCH. That wouldn't be beneficial. However, replacing one BLM with a SCH won't really hurt you. Quite the opposite I believe.

They can AoE weather the BLM's to add 10% damage and accuracy to their spells.

Uhhh, Pretty sure Storms are double element.

Nope, they count as a single element. They do, however, take priority over current element, unless its the same element. In that case they will stack.

Another tidbit for those who don't keep current on SCH stuff.

You can actually gain more "ticks" from a helix by adding an obi on to benefit from the weather/day effects. Base is 7 ticks of damage, extendable to 10. Supposedly (though I haven't confirmed) Klimaform also does the same thing.

That is correct, hence why I get annoyed every time I see people use penitent's for helices >.> How many "ticks" you get are based on both your magic accuracy (resist rate), weather, and obi (weather and day).

Edit: also, is there any proof that Klimaform is Enhancing magic? I'm inclined to believe it is actually Dark Magic like the DRK spikes, as it stacks with Manifestation. Also, I do believe the magic accuracy it adds is based on your magic skill. I haven't tried Obis, but I'd somehow doubt Klimaform is affected by it, although it is possible

All my skills were capped once I got it and I've seen no evidence to prove that it's enhancing.

Edit: It also would be hard to measure any change even if it scaled by skill. Without a way to accurately calculate magic accuracy either, it's hard to say much about the spell at all right now.
If I were to "guess" though (and let me stress guess), simply because SE seems to like to do weather related things in 10%s, I'd imagine the buff would be +10 macc per weather/day up to +30.

Only way I can think of in order to try it out, would be to use it in Light/Dark arts with and without Enhancing and Dark magic skill, in order to see if there is a difference in your magic accuracy.

Naturally over a large period of time. But yeah, it would still be hard, since it seem to add a rather nice ammount of Magic Accuracy. Reason I've come to believe it is based on a magic skill, is because while it adds a noticable ammount of Magic Accuracy, I still sometimes got resisted on Lesser Colibris at lvl 54, while people mention they rarely, if ever, get resisted on Ouryu etc. with Klimaform on. The only real difference that could affect Klimaform's performance is magic skill and various stats, where the previous is the most likely one. Also, as Enhancing Magic is not increased in Dark Arts (nor will it allow you to use Enhancing magic spells, such as Blaze Spikes, with Manifestation), I find it more likely that it is Dark Magic based rather then Enhancing Magic based.

Yeah, because not being sure of whether or not Pchan typoed and not knowing what I said myself are so very same right?

And yes, other people read this thread. Thats why they don't need you to spam by quoting me and then repeating me. Because if you could read, you'd notice I was also suggesting replacing 1 blm and putting in a sch.

The second part was merely my opinion. Only the first part of my post was directed at your quote.

And unless adding +40 Elemental Magic brings you from 287 Elemental Magic to 220/225 Elemental Magic, it is easy to assume it was a typo. I'm glad you agree you don't know what you said yourself though ;P

I don't know how high scholar skills go. For all I know the first part could've been a typo, considering he said that once and said the second part a total of 4 times typoed.

Maybe you should take a few english lessons before you post here?

Well, assuming you have basic knowledge of the game, one could assume it is not 180, as not even an F skill gives you that low a rating :P

If you don't mean you don't understand what you, yourself, said, what exactly does the last part mean then?

I think it's a safe assumption that it's dark magic now that I think about it. Spike spells are enhancing black magic and don't work with manifestation, Klimaform does and dark magic can work with it. I think the fact that it stacks is more of a bug than anything but yeah..

And yeah, that's pretty much the same conclusion I came up with as well. I find it weird that Klimaform would be an exception to spells that stack with Manifestation, when Spikes don't stack with it. That's why I asked if there's some proof to it being Enhancing Magic that I've missed somewhere. Wikipedia states it is enhancing magic, and BG wiki won't load for me, so I dunno what it says there.

And someone shouldn't make the same typo 4 times in a row. Its a good cause for doubt. Now get over it.

Ok, lemme make it clear for you. You said here that maybe I didn't "actually know".

My point was, I had JUST said that in a previous post. So I was telling you, despite not being able to decipher Pchan's typing, I know something that I said previously.

This is a pretty stupid argument, so I'm gonna stop posting about Pchan's typos now.

Well, we all know you only did it because you don't like him anyway. Makes you look cool.

But fine, this isn't the thread to post it in :p Bring it to the flameboard if you want ;P

Yeah, makes me sooooo cool to be confused because I wasn't sure what she said. Not everybody is out to get you and your little buddies. Though, from the way you react, I can't say I blame those that are.

Well, I want everyone to be out to get me. Makes it more fun \(^.^)/

I was reading through Kaeko's blog, and the idea of efficiency during exp seemed to maybe be slightly negatively biased in the case of sch in there. Even if you are able to reach the same kind of chains with BLM and SCH there is more to efficiency, which I think would play greater to SCH. I'm only a lvl 60 BLM but I solo on it almost exclusively and I've noticed that getting back into chaining after chain 5 is important for maximizing exp. In the blog Kaeko says that often at the end of chains SCH had much more mp than his BLM did, which means its easier to get back into chaining faster.

If anything I think this has something to say in fights where that mp support isn't as present, or even if it is there too a degree SCH becomes more desirable due to its versatility + mp efficiency. Not in normal HNM fights where mp isn't an issue so much, but in low man fights or solo/duoing.

It does scale up though too. And that's an important factor. It can do well in low man situations (much like RDM, BLM can) but it still has its uses on boss fights and events which require a lot of people. Replace one BLM with a SCH in the BLM party and you have some weather spells that can be shared along with its own ability to do damage. As a healer, it can deal with Curing and status removal to an entire party that is not even it's own (Accession+Cure/-na works on other parties). The job has enormous potential.

I'm just under cap for enhancing and dark skill (Go go 1st mage job) i'll spam Klimaform later if you want.
