Just gonna toss my own 2 cents in here and say that Phraust hasn't been camped Argus in a long time. How do I know that? Because I've been there. What I don't get is why people always go off about phraust making all this "ph4t l3w7z" off Argus when the time period in which he was getting the Peacock Charm it was selling for 6.5M and started moving up to 15M. People act like he was making 20M a pop because they are basing it off today's prices, and while at the time, 6.5M was alot, it certainly wasn't 20M.

Now, if you want to bitch about someone monopolizing NM drops.... well shit... I'm sorry.

I'm not defending them necessarily.. and I know that Tiya and Phraust pay monthly and have a right to camp it as much as they want to. However... I was just stating that I find it better to farm for money or synthesis for money and use NM (the ones that are easily solo-ed) to just make use of the item. That I find camping it day after day to be selfish and greedy. I also find it interesting that Tiya and Phraust and others on this forum admit they camp things over and over again when the window comes up but when a gilseller does it and claims it fairly.. they are so hated. Where's the difference? Gilsellers do pay monthly too.. and if they get fair claim.. there's no problem right? I still think their greedy and selfish for camping it every window.. but that's in their right... as it is in Tiya's and Phraust's.

I understand what you're saying and it's a good ideal, but unfortunatly this game isn't designed that way. Throughout the course of leveling your character from day one you will reach the point where equipment becomes available that drops from a NM and unless you want go on without that item until you can effectively soloing that NM, you're going to have to buy it. For example, go solo VE at 21, or Argus at 33...the list goes on and on. Now, this isn't a bad thing, in fact it's what makes the AH work. Someone within reach of obtaining the item you need, crafters, NM hunters, someone of a higher rank using points etc. provide the supply. So unless you want to be gimped (in some cases you need to double your level to take on that NM) you farm what you can, craft what you're able to, or camp NM that are within your reach for the Gil to purchase your item. By doing so you are supplying others with items they need in order to be able to afford items that you want. This is how the economy works, supply and demand, gil exchanged for items and services.

Now think about your statement in your last post comparing Tiya and Phraust to gilsellers in a sense. If they're using the gil earned from drops to fund dynamis currency, crafting, equips they need and gilsellers are exchanging it for RL currency there's a major difference that if you don't see, you're blind. Also, being in a HNMLS that I'm sure like most, are present every window or at least keep the ToD so they can continue another day and being morally opposed to what they/we do is a major contradiction.

I understand what you're saying, and it's noble and fair. I have no intentions of starting a flame war with you but you're arguing just for the sake of arguing, and you're reaching...
 
I understand fully the difference between what gilsellers do with their money and what Tiya and Phraust do with their money XD I've known them for awhile (and I don't really remember when I first met them O.o) but on the level of camping the NM itself.. (nothing to do with what use the gil would be put to) as in.. how it is camped.. camped at every window of everyday? It's common to gilsellers.. however I do not see Tiya and Phraust as being on the same level as gilsellers at all (atleast the rude ones >.>). And I know fully that they have the right to camp argus all they want and really.. it's their right.. I understand this.. and so good luck to them XD I tend to poke fun at them though now and then if I see them there. Once again.. I'm not really trying to argue for the sake of arguing.. I'm not accusing them of being gilsellers.. I'm just saying on the level of the NM camping they are quite common to the gilsellers in the sense of how often they camp it and that, in my view, items like those should be used and not sold by campers unless they've already made full use of them which would prolly take weeks and weeks with the more valuable items. And you said that items like Emperor Hairpin and such? solo-ing them at 21? well exactly.. people can make money other ways. There's proof enough when someone makes gil via farming to pay for that. And they are only level 20 or so. They can't take on the NMs that drop things worth a lot of gil (other than like.. Big Mouth Billy, Leaping Lizzy, and something that's not a NM but similar to one, spook). I still think there are lots of other avenues you could take to reach the same amount of gil earned per month without making it tougher for someone to get the drop that has full intentions of making use of it. Often when I ask someone what they are camping the NM for.. if they tell me that they intend to use it for their job (and I only camp these NMs trying to get the drop for my love's monk or for my future DRG career) and if they tell me that they are gonna use it for themselves in the very near future and actually use it.. I back off and come back at another time.
 
The funny thing about the Peacock Charm is that as soon as it's obtained those intentions of wearing it go right out the window in favor of profit. It's not a necessary item for any job, it's a luxury item. Sure, it's handy to have the bulk of your +ACC in just a few items, freeing up other slots for other stat bonuses but this item isn't a MUST for any job. So no, I'm not going to back off and forfeit my time spent to a PLD like Shizia who claims to "need" the item, and without TH2, is just gonna waste a kill anyway. I'm not preventing anyone from getting the item, in fact i'm trying to increase the number of charms on the market and make myself a nice profit for my hard work. I'm no fool and I'm not in the business of letting others who can't handle a little friendly competition get a free ride to 25mil gil.
 
considering I'm going DRG next.. and I'm elvaan.. I'd sure like one :D and I would use it. But it isn't a necessity for me to grab compared to other gear.
 
errr.. damn.. I hate not having an edit button... I hate that everyone who says doesn't have TH2 is wasting a kill on a NM.. that's just seeming to be that you want to have it a THF only market and that would prolly hurt the economy... look at Astrals.. they were a THF only.. used to be 30k at the beginning of NA release.. then they got up to 300-350k before S-E made them a BCNM drop. And it appears to be outta greed that you hunt this item... not to "benefit the server by putting more out there" you wanna benefit the server? put more out there and lower the price. But I have yet to see anyone out there that claims to "benefit the server" actually making any benefits to the server. And I don't mean lower it a mil or so.. lower to what it once was when Phraust used to camp it a lot eh? back to 4mil? is that SO bad?
 
I don't believe only THF's should camp NM, that's not what I'm trying to say. But you need to understand this isn't Leaping Lizzy or VE and I don't know anyone who would want to waste let's say 18 hours camping a NM for no reason. I totally agree that anyone who preaches on about needing TH2 for all farming and camping is a complete moron, but stop and think about how many possible Argus spawns there are in 1 year and the increasing number of players looking to buy a charm. On top of that, add in all the gilbuyers who will pay the price regardless of how much it costs them. THAT is why the price has risen, along with the price of everything else in this game as I'm sure you've noticed. It isn't about thief's monopolising camps... this is a rare spawn, and a rare drop.
 
you seem to have gilsellers figured wrong XD I've never seen them overbid on things or overprice them. They underbid a lot so they can sell faster. Seriously.. if you have the gil and want an ochidus kote for cheaper than AH? go to the local gilseller and they'll deal with you. Atleast the gilsellers I know of don't raise the prices.. not at all. I know gilsellers that do unethical things to get the mob.. but they don't raise the prices. And this drop is actually not as rare as people make it out to be from what I've seen. It seems to drop far more than Bune does -_- damn you bune... anyways.. I don't see how getting a drop and selling it on the server for the overpriced price it is at is benefitting the server. I understand "more PCC will mean more out there that will lower the price in time" but I highly doubt more out there will lower the price within even 5 years.

I honeslty think if Phraust in the past, and now Tiya and Persephone invest the time in camping argus etc., they honestly deserve the drop. Waiting 36 hours or more for a spawn takes perseverence to get and if they get the claim and get the item it is theres....


and please... stop saying crafting is a way to make "uber" money, do u realize how much money it TAKES to get to the point where you can actually make money back?! GS takes like 100mil, smithing like 10-20 mil or prolly more.

I personally only have Smithing at like 56 or so, and the main ways to make money are by desynth etc., and even that isnt constant. So please, most items in smithing are worthless, even if you CAN HQ lower stuff, half the time it isnt even worth the effort to get the HQ because the money you earn is marginal. And way you are losing 10-20k if not more per synth, i really dont see any other way to make money. It would take you almost a week to be able to earn one level, if not more, and thats if you craft NON stop on the ideal days.

You NEED another way to earn money, and honestly 20mil a hit for a peacock charm is honestly a really good way to fund ur craft. Think about it, leathercraft, you need MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS, same with bonecraft, clothcraft, goldsmithing (duh) and smithing (duh)...

the only crafts that make money along the way are like cooking and woodworking, and fishing (if its counted as a trade) oh and maybe alchemy until the final levels. Using the craft to fund the craft is sucha pain because the money you earn from lower level synths honestly isnt worth the money. Just take a look at most of the smithing recipes, not many people will pay 10k more for a 1 more dmg item. Sure you can look through the list and say to yourself "oh wow, omg... aspis +1 (for ex...) makes a good 10k more) i think... havent played the game in like 2-3 months... but do you realize a NQ aspis is a money sink? and it isnt like u can HQ consistently. Besides, who REALLY buys an aspis +1? -_-"....

i really dont see what you are trying to get at, it isnt like u can become a 100 Veteran in a craft in one day, it takes so much time and money. NM cash just helps further the process faster, a LOT faster i might add.
 
Pers never said we were benefitting the server, she said that we were putting more PCC's on the market. Pers also never said gilsellers increase prices, she said gilbuyers. It's gilbuyers that will pay any price for an item, no matter how ridiculous, gilsellers keep prices steady.

Asking us to lower the price of the PCC to 4mil is absolutely ridiculous. There's a common theme on the AH lately - inflation. Inflation isn't a result of price jacking, it means more gil has been introduced to the market - why that is, is for another thread. The PCC was actually 6mil when Phraust camped, and the emp pin, for example, was 200k. The emp pin has gone up by four times as much. Guess what, the PCC has too. ;) Just about everything has; including cheap farmed items. Even crystals have.

Well, lets put some math behind it.

Lets take an avg 24 hour spawn, which is shared with LK. So, 365/2 = 182
Drop rate hovers in the 40% range, so.... 73.

Thats 73 PCC's in one year.

I dont think with the current economy that 18-20 mil is too much to ask for the best melee neck piece in the game.

Think about this:
Speed belt : 40 mil
Errant cape: 20 mil
Nobles Tunic: 10 mil

Gah, there are too many to name...

Ele, if you want to do the noble thing, and benifit the server.. go spend a few days camping it yourself, get the drop.. and sell it for 4 mil.

I have a hard time believing anyone would do that.

And to those that camp without TH2:

If you want to spend days(not hours DAYS) tracking, and then hunting an NM, and not do EVERYTHING in your power to try to maximize your chance at the drop.. you are an idiot.

Camping with no TH2 is next to useless. I was 0/9, or some crap, on Mysticmaker Profblix<sp????>, until Phraust killed it for me once and got the drop. After that, I KNOW that no TH2 = no thanks.


BTW. Ele have you gotten the earring yet? :lol:
