any true socom-ers in here? this game looks to be the hotness for the upcoming holiday season.

if you want basically everything socom 1, 2 and CA have to ffer and more, i hear this next one is it.

i was brought to ffxi on NA PS2 release thanks to socom (HDD) and still play to this day. its going to be hawt on ps3.. imma be sure to get my hdtv b4 then.

I would consider buying a PS3 just to get that. The only reason i play FFXI is because of the worthless ps2 HDD i got for socom 2. I've played every socom game and at the begining of socom 2 my clan was ranked 10th on game battles, i was in the top 1000 in the world in the socom in game rank. I love socom, still one of the best games ever imo. Socom > Halo.

And crossroads lol, nothing like setting a claymore at the half wall on the seal side, laying down behind those boxes and ripin bitches. And true pimps roll with the 12 gauge pump.

I plan on picking this up and HOPEFULLY it will help bring my intrest back to socom. Socom 3 killed it for me =(.. Glad Zipper got the boot on this one.
 
Should try some GRAW2 till this comes out then if you like it so much. Its the same exact gameplay but GRAW2 looks alot better then this visually. A sick game to get you going till this comes out maybe.

EDIT: Same gameplay online i ment. Dont think this socom has a campaign.

And i agree, S2 was awesome and i got into socom 3 some, but it just wasnt the same. Maybe it was because i never found a good clan to play with. I joined a few, but they either sucked ass or the members were dicks. One i joined, we had a 16v16 war. At the end i had like 20 some kills, the next best person on my team had like 13, and no one else had double digits D: it was embarrassing.

Zippers working on an installment for ps3 too, with the regular single player and online campaign, among some other things. I'm still excited for Confrontation though with it's 32 player online, although I haven't really gotten into SOCOM since the original, which I played a shitload of before EQOA released on PS2, then dwindled on my SOCOM, and it was altogether a blank slate by the time FFXI released on PS2, which I got free as well as the HDD when I beta-tested it.
I did pick up the 2nd one though, never got into that as much as I did the first.

Never picked up the 3rd nor Combined Assault, wondering if people still play either, I wouldn't mind getting back into the SOCOM-fold before Confrontation and the Zipper title releases.

socom is still VERY BIG. they have done a great job with eliminating the accounts of cheaters on s3 which is a main reason CA is going strong as we speak. its just a different array of players than what it used to was in socom and socom 2. i think having to make so many passworded protected rooms in the old days was actually an advantage of getting a better comerade between clan members. clans are a little less friendlier but still exist in 3.
hopefully most that played s1 or 2 found their old clan members in 3, like i did.

Oh snap, i had me some wicked camp spots leaning in the water. Seals would just run by and not know shit about you being there then POP 552SD in the back.

Speaking of camping though, nothing even comes close to you and a buddy, down in the seal tunnels on frostfire with claymores, one person at each end. Shit me and my friend alone could hold of the whole other team, and nothing beats claymoreing people. God frostfire was the shit, my fav map by far.
 
Well after seeing this and getting juiced up about SOCOM again, and seeing that Socom:CA just gor a price cut to 20 bucks i decided im gonna bring out the PS2 can pick it up when i go into work tomorrow. Anyone else got CA and want to play? (or 3) Get a lil QCDN throw down goin on. Im pretty sure my socom 3 name was RaidrX but i could be wrong, ill have to double check. Im gonna hop on socom 3 tonight and get back into it so if you want to hit me up, post here or pm me well get a game goin.

Edit: Oh baby, just played my first game back. 27-11 not bad (well 27-14 but 3 were TKs, 2 im pretty sure were intentional, so we wont count those). Gonna be playing for awhile, in game name is RaidrX if anyone wants to play.

the socom series sucks now. ive played it since socom1 and havent touched it since socom3. i only bought CA because my clan was still playing it but i just couldnt get into it like i did for 1 and 2. i got hooked on ffxi for awhile but then my clan jumped ship to 360 and vegas and now i play that. if they can make the new socom like 1 and 2 im sure lots of people will go back to it, but if its the same garbage they put out i doubt it will get back the following it once had.
 
I wouldn't say the series "sucks" now. I think the thing its lacking in most is good online maps. Nothing beats Frostfire and Desert Glory. Shit all the Socom 1 maps were good and actually so where all the socom 2 maps, but i can't find myself liking any of the new maps. Killing Fields is "OKAY" and so is Crucible. I just got CA so i haven't tried any of those new maps. Otherwise, i haven't found a map i really enjoy playing.

I do however like the 16v16 every once in awhile. Also the gun customization is awesome imo. Even though 90% of the time im either 552 or M4 with a front grip and silencer, its still nice to have options.

One other thing i haven't tried is Co-op. I could see that being fun, i enjoy Terrorist Hunt in R6 and i can see co-op being somewhat similar to that. Ill have to try er out.
 
S3 blew balls. Any noob could pick up a sniper rifle and get kills. I liked S1 and 2, Enowapi terrorists was my shit. Snipe the bomb from the ledge, drop to next ledge snipe the bomb, rush the bomb, it all worked nicely.

They need to take the fight back into the jungles and deserts where it belongs.
 
the series does suck. i honestly dont think they will ever get the following back that they once had. they have stung people too many times with promises that they cant deliver on.

I'll pick up a PS3 when it comes out, but until then I wont worry about it. S3 was alright, but like raider mentioned there was no clan activity it was hard to meet people to play with. I think that's what went wrong is that people had to join rooms with a bunch of new people. Oh and the ranking system got FUCKED UP! It's to the point now that if you're not a Ensign you can't join hardly any rooms that are up.

Man I think they should just bring back the 8v8's and make sure they put Crossroads, Frostfire, Desert Glory, Fish Hook, Sujo, and Death Trap (I freaking loved playing seals on that map even though it was terrorist based). Which brings me to my last point, screw this mercenary stuff change it back to TERRORISTS.
 
Death trap on seal was the shit. I had some of the best clan matches i can remember on that map, so fun. FF is still the best, I liked Vigilance a lot too though.

I agree though, sniping in S3 is gay. Especially on harvester, alot of people play that map and its just plain shitty. Half the time you cant even get out of seal spawn without getting popped.
 
Sniping wasn't that bad it was the quick sniping. And you know what they say if you can't beat em join em. So I joined a clan that was nothing but quick snipers and we'd play devils road, win liike 6-0 everytime and the other team would quit. That was the only gay part about it is that you'd barely see the moving and then they'd jump and shoot at the same time and kill you.

My clan in S2 would run Sujo Seals or FF Seals, and we could run Crossroads Terrorists, but other than that we were pretty average. Never really did the whole GB thing except for 1v1, and I'd win most of the matches by just out manuevering the other guy and hiding.

BTW i've been trying to find the release date for the game and one site says 2008 and the other site says Fall 2007, does anyone know the release date?
