Someone's got a superiority complex

And as for the folks saying Mire makes for shitty meriting, I guess I've been fortunate.

It doesn't blow for xp, it just blows away CP areas. But take your group of 6 and they will most likely get more in the more favored camps.

When theres nothing else available, the mire is a more than reasonable alternative, but the low 70's people aren't going to be happy.

That's pretty much the thing. Everywhere except Mt. Z was crowded at the time we were looking. And trolls suck. They'll do, but I'd take Mire over trolls any day. I wasn't the leader, but we all agreed we'd go to the Mire over trolls.

Believe me, I know that not much beats Thickets parties for meriting, or colibri in the Nyzul areas when they aren't insanely camped. In fact, I prefer the Thickets to everything, but I'm not going to gank my exp to compete with 4 or 5 bard puller parties in a spot that only holds (for decent meriting) two or three. Or slam on trolls which are a pain in the ass. Not when I can go a pretty unusually quiet Mire and get better chains & quicker exp.

I was leveling mid to late 60's my dark knight in the Mire awhile back, we were getting outpulled and out claimed by roaming lv 75 merit partys that layed claim to anything and everything they could find loose, where it would take a lv 67-69 party 1-2 minutes to slay a mob lv 75's can do in 10-20 seconds.

The mobs in the mire are mostly tough to VT to a lv 75 but chaining those lv's gets great exp and since the mire is often packed with mobs thus it also is with partys. I've been on both ends of the spectrum as a lv 67 trying to just level up and a 75 earning some merits. I dont think either is really bad for that area its just highly competitive and usually the ones that lose out are the ones that cannot pull/kill fast enough.

Its ironic in my 67 party that was in the mire then my party was complaining about those 'bloody 75's stealing our exp', ironically weeks/months later these same people (myself included) are doing the same thing as lv 75's.

I dont really see a solution, and its probably a vain hope that people could get along with each other when exp/merits are so sought for.

When I was leveling PLD to 75 I ran into the 'problem' of Roaming Merit PTs. Our party bitched for a few minutes and then we said 'Screw it' because there is no way we were going to get a merit PT to move. That's just a fact. We ended up going to Bibiki Bay and we fucking did awesome with practically the same EXP returns.

I have a few Merit Jobs myself and trust me, all the non-assholes go places that aren't super crowded just to make sure situations like this don't happen. I firmly believe that Zyn is one of those people. She's not going to go somewhere just to screw people over because she wants merits.

Now, onto a statement you made Melfie:

"I didn't ask them to leave, I just asked them to merit somewhere else."

...

So, you didn't ask them to log out... you just told them to remove themselves from a specific area of the game? That reasoning sounds stupid, but I'm trying to figure out how asking them to leave is not telling them to leave.

People do seem to have forgotten CP areas even exist... Not replying to anyone specific, just saying so in general.

Just a week or so ago on NIN, I was invited to pt with 2 sam, a rdm and blm, and the RDM didnt have ToAU. np at all, we went to KRT. Not only did I have a better time tanking the mobs in KRT, it was more fun, and faster than colibri.

If we had filled the 6th spot with another heavy DD job, we surely wouldve been flying through

Truthfully? I prefer CP areas as a general rule.

I don't personally have a problem with ToAU areas, but in the case of Colibri vs. CP mobs..I like being able to cast on my mobs >.>

I know ToAU areas give that little exp boost when the candescence is ours, but under some circumstances, Id rather level TO or near 75 in CP areas.

Im getting an urge to go level now! Too bad I cant, Im supposed to be at class in 40 mins. And Im waiting to static/get a lv or two with some LS buddies.

Needa get mah brown belt so I can lv something besides ninjar!

People are saying I had the audicity to ask you to leave. Jesus christ, I never asked you to leave. I said go merit someplace else.

Anyone else find this statement Ironic ?

Goddamn that Melfie for trying to make a win-win situation! I mean, wtf???

Morwenny and Nifal, there is a difference between a statement and a question. I made a statement while busting Noni and Darksoo's chops. Did I seriously ask them to leave? No. That was the point I was making.

Might I say...lolBLM?

j/k :P

lolDRK more like. Nothing more embarrassing than casting Absorb-TP, absorbing 90 TP from a Colibri, then to have it Absorb-TP right back and take 140 TP from either you, or the SAM you're fighting alongside.

Oi! How'd he get out?! *throws Melfie back in his bedroom* Sorry about that, I'll keep him tied down better next time. ;3

Damnit Melf, try to be nice to other people too! x3

what lvl >.>?

yes sir. you are not alone.

i was in a somewhat simmiler situation yesterday. my party hit the mire to exp off imp (GOD I HATE THOSE THINGS) and when we arrived we thought the area was clear. as we waited for members to arrive we saw a roaming party come running toward us. my first impulse was to ask them to leave that side of the lake alone. reason: i guessed we were here first. but instead of causing a fuss we decided to exp in a camp away from where they seemed to be going. they showed up there too.

2 deaths later (their rdm seemed to have silence cast on her) we hit bibiky bay and had a blast. we choose to change areas instead of fighting it our over a camp waisting time fighting over a camp. and as a result got the exp and had the fun we wanted. there are plenty of exp areas out there folks. limiting yourself to the populer ones only seems to cause problems.

Why do people still suggestion pre-ToA areas for experience? And when they do, it's always for someone else, but they never consider it themselves? At any rate, whatever experience you can make in any Pre-ToA zone will be eclipsed by the sanction bonuses including exp and sanction effects plus the weaker/low HP mobs found only in Aht Uhrgan.

"I didn't ask them to leave, I just asked them to go somewhere else". Same darn thing, just with different flavour.

Mire is decent enough for merits. Just have to have a competent puller and people who know how roaming works (rather than constantly running back to "camp").

Trolls are really good but take massive firepower thanks to their stupid high DEF. Very specific party layouts with exceptional gear is usually needed for them, and even then, it's very easy to lose chain. Stupid paladins, spamming diamondhide... grumble, grumble...

I've partied in CP areas plenty, I still do depending on the party setup and how crowded ToAU is. And I don't see why people wouldn't still suggest it. It's not like ToAU came out and suddenly every other area of the game ceased to exist. The fact is, if it means getting decent exp at a less crowded camp as opposed to going where you know there's already enough parties and spending time pissing and moaning about being outpulled or being unable to chain, then it's a better choice, now isn't it? /sea will show someone how many 75s in an area. Not too hard to figure out what to do from there.
