Honestly, who the fuck merits in the mire? Worst EXP ever.

Maybe for you. Again, I've gotten exceptional exp in the mire. And I'm not alone. Chain 218+ when it's been empty? Only crappy exp I've gotten there has been in crappy pickup parties. Any time I've gone with people I know well, we've done great there. To each their own I guess. It's your experience apparently that it's bad but you're definitely not speaking for everyone.

Exactly, when it's empty....

only time I find this happen is right after a freaking update...

I don't even mean EXP/hour. The mire is the most un-fun and annoying EXP around. The EXP/hour versus mamools or even sky is pretty piss-low, too, but I don't really care for that so much as having fun.

I hear ya. With shitty parties, that place bothers me. But with friends, whom I usually merit with, I am having fun.

I been exping alot in the mire lately on my late 60's WAR and PLD. Been excellent exp. One of my 67-69 exp parties were getting 13-14k an hr at one point. On the flip side I have made comparable exp as a merit party there, you just have to clear everything that moves.

Honestly Mire is my absolute last choice when meriting, there are tons better options. With that said you can exp whereever you want whenever you want. Its your perogitive.

So a group of us decide to merit tonight, we check around and Caedarva looks the least packed (only three parties). We get there, scout it out, one party tells us that they are leaving shortly. So we wait for our members to get there and we get started meriting. We're there for at least an hour and this taru, Melfie comes in and says "go merit on birds or Nyzul Isle -> Caedarva Mire." Then "{Please}." Now we were meriting no problem, not bothering anybody for over an hour then this person who hadn't been there all that time tells us to please leave?

So I send Melfie a tell and say, "We were here long before you for your information; there are other places you could go as well." I get "Hmmm. like what?" So I give several suggestions, including CP areas, and this person continues, laughing at the "low exp" in those areas for their party range (67-70) which is bullshit and telling me how I'm not getting it, how they asked nicely, how they said please. I basically told them that what they aren't getting is that we were there first; that if they can't /sea an area before they traipse off to level then perhaps they should, that it isn't our problem, and that furthermore, they shouldn't presume to tell other people where to go to exp. All he kept saying to me was "I said please." Like somehow that makes it any less of a dick thing to do to ask people who have been somewhere partying long before you to move. The conversation continued and ended in a blacklist to be sure.

It just amazes me the sense of entitlement this game has nowadays. Just because you are "X" level does not mean you can waltz in and tell other parties to leave. It's one thing if people are killing mobs that don't give them exp to be dicks, but if someone is meriting? I mean seriously, who the hell do you think you are? And "please" doesn't necessarily make you polite if your request to begin with is rude and obnoxious. If you can't /sea the area you intend to exp in or have someone scout ahead to see how crowded it is, that is your own goddamned problem. And if you can't make yourself aware of the large number of places at your disposal to exp, CP areas included (oh the horror) then you also have no one to blame but yourself.

This person went on to tell me how he was just trying to have a good night and exp. Well guess what, so was I and the 5 other people with me. Your desire to have a good time isn't any more important than anyone else's. You aren't owed anything. People are not required to bow down when you pass. Get the fuck over yourself.

I agree with you. First come first serve. It shows no couth to ask a party that was there b4 you to move...no matter how polite you try doing it.

I've partied in CP areas plenty, I still do depending on the party setup and how crowded ToAU is. And I don't see why people wouldn't still suggest it. It's not like ToAU came out and suddenly every other area of the game ceased to exist. The fact is, if it means getting decent exp at a less crowded camp as opposed to going where you know there's already enough parties and spending time pissing and moaning about being outpulled or being unable to chain, then it's a better choice, now isn't it? /sea will show someone how many 75s in an area. Not too hard to figure out what to do from there.

They didn't cease to exist, but as I said, are eclipsed by the exp of any ToA zone. The mobs in ToA are much easier usually (there are exceptions like trolls and the red dragons) because they all recieve the sanction experience bonus when we have the Astral Candy which is a majority of the time. If in the case we lost AC, you might make more experience outside ToA in CoP zones or even RoZ, but even then, it won't be long before someone goes and gets it, a few days at most.

Like some have said, the Mire sucks. The exp is low, you're fighting T's after all and the only reason it's decently acceptable is because there is a plethora of mobs all boosted with sanction bonus exp and with lower HP (also a by product of AC?). Even with that double positive in its favor, it's still a poor merit camp because you could be out somewhere else killing tougher mobs for higher base exp. It would be one thing if a level 74 was complaining you're killing their exp mobs when you get practically the same exp, but these are mid to late 60's levels getting good exp, probably just as fast as you are getting merits even with slower killing speeds. That compounded with the fact you could be elsewhere getting real merits while ruining experience for the 3 exp parties that could be getting decent exp is what really annoys people.

Wow do you even bother to read anymore or do you just argue for the sake of it? Everywhere except the mire and Mt. Z was crowded. And as you've pointed out, exp is quicker in ToAU areas, so since the mire was fairly empty, we went there. A party was leaving as we came in. We merited for over an hour with no problems, no one bothering us (and contrary to what people keep saying the exp was excellent) and we were there long before said party came into the mire. And I know this because, like people should, I actually /sea areas before I try to go exp in them. Once again for those who can't grasp it, we were getting great exp, at chain 100+ when we finally left, and how we were "ruining" exp for all these other people is fucking laughable. If people can't /search an area before they exp, as I said, it's not my problem. If you choose to go where you see a merit party (or two which was the case) is partying then you are the one who is making it hard on yourself. What part of we were there first aren't you comprehending? There are other places they could be as well. And places they could have gotten just as good exp if not better with a party worth a shit. Don't give me this oh woe is me merit vs. other parties shit when we deliberately went someplace that wasn't crowded to keep from ruining other people's exp and our own.

There are probably dozens of unused camps which provide far better merit material than Caedarva Mire except people only seem to be able to use the most common ones found on Campsitarus because... well, thinking beyond that is just too much. The reason people chose Mire is only because it's open; however, from personal experience, you will always get better exp elsewhere because the base exp is low. Chain 100 is still crap if you're hitting 100 exp a mob. I can get 150-200 exp a mob and still hit chain 100. But neither of those matter, what really does is the exp/merits per hour and Mire just doesn't rate that high. I understand you were there first, but I don't understand what you don't get about getting mediocre merits. Perhaps you just like mediocrity...?

I would agree that doing a quick search of the area is a good idea, but the Mire has multiple maps and more than one camp area for various levels. And really, if you are suggesting using the search function, perhaps you can educate your LS on it's finer uses. On several occasions, I've watched Fury walk into a packed mire and take up a merit camp with 3-4 parties already present ruining experience for all those present and only getting shitty merits themselves. Honestly, that would have been more flame worthy than this crap, don't you think?

I have to say, I'm glad the CP areas are empty now :p I rather prefer those areas /shrug

Personally, as I was levelling both brd and mnk in the 65-72ish range I would get incredibly pissed off when my awesome (for that level range) xp would suddenly be reduced to nothing because a merit pt decided to move in on top of us. It's seriously NOT a good meriting camp. I know people do it, but that doesn't really justify the action or anything. People jump off bridges too but I'm sure as hell not going to do that just because I know other people do, lol. If S-E were smart they would bump the mobs in the mire down like 1-2 levels, just enough to make it suck for lvl 75ers but still be great for the 65-70 range.

I've done merit parties in the Mire when it was empty and everything else was packed. Not the best xp/mob, obviously, but better than sitting on my hand waiting for mobs to repop because there are 3 parties for each usual single-party spot everywhere else in Aht Urghan areas.

And frankly Lavi, considering what shell you're in, I wouldn't be talking down to anyone about shell etiquette if I were you.

<3 zyn ....i really like her longggggggggggggggggggggg post XD. Ya last nite i think we were having so much misunderstanding but now is fixed. And yaly i love to merit with friends even its worst xp or i died so many times. (i did die cuz darksoo failed on healing D:).

What I think is that you're a real asshole for trying to make this some linkshell based bullshit. I haven't thought much of you and your pissy attitude for a long time and I think even less of you now. How dare you talk about Fury like you have any right to say anything about it. Who the fuck are you?

I don't know who you think you're talking to but I'm not a rookie at this game and I couldn't give a good goddamn about what you think about exp. It wasn't chosen from some website, I know from my own personal experience what kind of exp I can get and where I can get it, as well as trust the experience and judgement of people a lot less needlessly argumentative, and more reputable than yourself. And I know that people like you who think you know everything and that everyone else is wrong are usually narrow-minded drones who are so sure they're 100% correct 100% of the time that they don't want to listen to anything anyone has to say.

Again, and try actually getting this, because after this I'm done with your garbage: It was excellent exp and I have 5 other people who can attest to it. If you have gotten "mediocre exp" there perhaps it's because of your lack of skill or the lack of skills of your party and not because that area has to suck for anyone else who merits there. If all the hot spots ie: the best merit spots are occupied, you're apparently one of those idiots who would cram into an overpopulated area so you could get your merits and piss on what it did to other people's exp and chains. I'm not like that. I'd choose an almost empty mire over ganking my own and other's exp merely so I could get the stamp of approval from people like you.

Nah I think Soo just wanted Onion Masta to die so he can cook you up for dinner! >_>

Why do people still suggestion pre-ToA areas for experience? And when they do, it's always for someone else, but they never consider it themselves? At any rate, whatever experience you can make in any Pre-ToA zone will be eclipsed by the sanction bonuses including exp and sanction effects plus the weaker/low HP mobs found only in Aht Uhrgan.
Lavi you know me far better then that.

my DRG has been living in bibiky bay since she was 62. and my monk will be too. CP areas separates the men from the boys. my static went to ule.range at 52. i was a bit rought but we still chained fairly well. wasnt till later that i realized 53 is usually the starting lvl for that zone. i brought a 53 pickup party there......:omg:. i was horrible. and everyone cried about not going to the ToAU areas (keep in mind the idiots didn't know that 55 is the recommended lvl range for starting there for melee).

i will take CP over ToAU exp zones for rising parties any day of the week.

All I know is it's pretty hard to exp in Caedarva when there are 2 merit parties there (or even one great one) so I stay the hell away.

Oh, and crawler camps at Mt. Z get pretty crowed and cap off pretty fast for exp around 68, whereas the Caedarva is impeccable exp from 66-73(~).

Both parties could have gone somewhere else, but Zyn was there first. I understand the frustrations of the lower party, but never ever expect someone to move at even a suggestion. It just doesn't happen.

Why is it that people would rather go to Caedarva and complain about being outpulled than go to a traditional area such as The Tree and have zero competition? I've been in several parties lately that refuse to go to a CoP/ZM area and we end up either disbanding or going to some overcrowded place where we get a max of 4k/hr. opeople don't even know the horror that was trying to camp in slow mob popping original areas. Spoiled!

Why would you bring a linkshell into this, there is no correlation between Zyn's linkshell and the fact that I've walked in and chain 250 with 3 other pts there. I'm pretty sure i've kicked out a shitload of people in the mire due to high chains. If you dont like it then be polite, dont fucking drag linkshells into a thread that had nothing to do w/ them in the first place.
