Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

Yes, it's on the PSN store.

And I don't think it's all that great. Nothing people would pay attention to if it didn't have the Star Wars license. Also wasn't all that different than the Star Wars Episode 3 game. Personally I'd rather have a next-gen Star Wars Battlefront.

You and me both.

The game is still fun, but yeah I don't understand why they haven't made Battlefront yet for the new systems. Those were the best selling games ever with a Star Wars title, and it just doesn't make sense not too bring them back.

I give this at most a rental if I'm bored one weekend and feeling Star Wars nostalgia, but it's by no means a good game... maybe if I'd been playing Too Human beforehand I'd feel different lol...

Boo to you Firestreak, boo to you. This game is going to be awesome. I can't wait to own it.

i dont see how this could be considered a bad game...ive had a blast playing this demo a few times over. And theres nothing wrong with too human either, it has its flaws but anyone who listened to a bad review is missing out on a fun fun game. I expected to play a POS when i got it because of all the haters, and it turned out to be the opposite.
TFU is gonna be fucking awesome.

ive played ninja gaiden many many times through...and TFU is good. At least what ive seen from the demo.

I just finished playing the demo and it's good. The combat system is pretty hectic though, and it kind of just seems like Devil May Cry with a light saber. I'll probably end up getting it since the story actually sounds like it might be good as long as there aren't a lot of retcons.

Played through the demo a few times and it's very fun. Some standout moments:

I got to the big gate-doors and clone troopers set up behind some boxes across the hall. I use a force charge push to blast open the gate, knock aside the boxes, and destroy the gate behind them. The troopers were never seen again.

At the point when Juno tells you they're scrambling Tie fighters, I bent out one of the girders on the walk way and held it out in front of an incoming fighter.

At that same area, I threw a box at some troopers and killed all but one, who was falling over the edge. I did that jedi-dash thing to get close enough to force grab him and save him from falling. Then slammed him into the wall.

wait so what was the alternate ending? mine just ended after slicing an AT in half?

I guess it's The Force(trademark) that makes random barrels(that explode at being dropped) impenetrable to lightsaber slashes. Come on, just cause it's a Star Wars game doesn't mean you can explain away the PS2-quality engine with "the force".

No, thats stupid. But complaining about characters being suspended in the air in a game based on a universe where characters can use cells in their blood stream to run fast as fuck, jump XTREME hieghts, and manipulate bodies ten billion times their own physical volume is equally as stupid. Where many other games it could be credited to poor design, this one actually has a pretty good excuse for being able to do so.

A real complaint is the force meter. Whats the point? It fills back up too fast to really punish you for using powers too quickly. Also getting health for kills. I was unaware the Star Wars universe ran the Vampire mutator from Unreal Tournament.

I am sure there are force powers that drain your force bar faster down the line. It seems like you can only get one level up through the whole demo. I really enjoyed the demo and have already played through it twice.

I still don't see it mattering a whole lot since it refills in two seconds if you aren't using any powers.

I look at Star Wars, and the game translations, from a established law point of view. Yes, it's true that the force can be used to lift objects, in fact bigger than the person using the force. Then by deduction, force users should be able to lift themself - in essense, they should be able to fly. Yet none do. They use the force to jump higher sometimes..yet even strong users never fly or stop their descent.

Hell the Emperor and Mace Window both were killed by falling, and they were much stronger than some no-name sith wannabe.

So I can't just explain a force user jumping high up, stopping mid air, and slashing around - as it's against established powers that would have been used.

Furthermore, that action doesn't eat up your force meter, which shows it's not a force move, rather a physical move - and... well, now we're just back into the realm of bad gameplay mechanics.

Also the light saber feels so damn weak. There's no satisfaction killing people with it, only robots. It won't damage the environment at all, not even the doors you're supposed to break open. It doesn't slice people up at all. It's not even good to one shot the normal troopers/rebels.

Then there's the difficulty settings. Even with the neutered light saber, it's still too easy on the hardest setting - while the medium setting at least feels a little more "right" by letting you one shot people with the lightsaber, it's too easy. You have to go take a piss without pausing or something to die.

I can't imagine why him staying in the air and slashing would bother anyone so much at all. Just accept it and move on. It doesn't hurt the game in any way.
