For those of you who don't know, "Taj" is the guy who (among other things) created the newer plugins for Windower many of us are currently loving/abusing ... Light Luggage, Timestamp, Logger, etc. He's currently on the Windower team as an official co-developer. Taj is also the fellow who brought the whole FFXI wiki scandal to light, primarily by hacking the e-mail and Paypal accounts of the administrators in question. From outright disproving the still-perpetuated "crafting compass" myth, to (according to rumor) creating a nifty little tool that force-disconnected any player near him, he's been an incredibly chaotic figure who's been gaining notoriety at an exponential rate.

Now, to avoid starting a panic:

Taj definitely did this, yes, but Windower was not involved. This is absolutely indesputable, and I mean ABSOLUTELY. The hacking was done completely independently of Windower.

1) The giant thread at Blue Gartr's website.

2) The page where the hammer falls.

Some more interesting tidbits from that thread:

So basically Taj.... Did it? Because... He... Could.. Or am I missing something?
Yep.

Then Taj went out and ate some babies, before screwing all the dogs in the neighbourhood.

Just because he could.

Ok fuck it I've been given the go ahead.

1) I don't care how "easy it would have been to cover his tracks", he didn't. I don't care if it was so obvious that he was obviously getting framed, he isn't.

2) The original URL for the "Rykoshet on leviathan picture" was http://euphidime.com/img/rykoshet.png, it was just later reposted on imageshack so as not to bring traffic to Taj's site for no reason. If you go there now you won't find the picture obviously but someone on the BG mod staff saw the picture at that URL themself. Not the imageshack one, the euphidime.com one.

3) The billing address in oregon was either at one time or is now currently the address of a girl who was romantically involved with Taj 2-3 years ago. I know this because she was in my linkshell. Mahal pointed out the name lollipop before, that's it.

4) As the garret screenshot proves, he was likely targeted for the exact same reason Divisor was, their involvement in RMT. When you hit one, it's easy to get the rest, especially if all their info was PMed to eachother on their boards (derp, stop being retards about this).

5) He doesn't cover himself because you guys are so fucking adamant to make asses out of yourself to defend him that he doesn't fucking have to. He could fuck your mothers, shit in their mouths and videotape it and you still would let him off with some half cooked concept, it's retarded. He's the R Kelly of vanadiel, he'll get away with whatever the fuck he wants because you want him to.

But radiance people you really need to do yourself a favor and shut the fuck up. You finally got the relevant info out but you're not clean, at all. Flic knew exactly who was behind it and what had happened before it got out, and he let it happen anyway and took those characters in. If you check the taja screenshot you'll see someone explicitly state "Well then who's on lins?" Only 2 people have the info to linsivi, taj and lins himself. That means they damn well knew that one of those people were on taja and as such wondered who was playing linsivi. The second the water got hot you basically told him to leave or that people were afraid of him. You approved of it thinking you wouldnt get caught. You're as fucking guilty as anyone else and you damn well should stop pointing fingers

There, you got your internet vigilante you fuckbags, enjoy it.

I know Garret worked hard for his Relic, I don't know about the others. Didn't even bother checking. (90% of the people in this thread probably buy or have bought gil, it's only drama if they have a relic!)
(in response to someone asking if he did this out of any sense of gilbuying justice, as one of the nine victims was suspected)

Taj said:
Has to be over $300 to be a felony.
(in response to whether or not the $25 stolen from the victims' credit cards could constitute serious trouble)

You know what? Fuck Taj. There is no explanation that can justify this, you are quite honestly a piece of human trash now (*'-')

Hero-worship is dangerous, and I think Bluegartr just got burned a bit by it. :/

Yawn. Only stupid people get "hacked". This goes for the prior ffxiclopedia crap, too. If you aren't stupid you won't get hacked.

You've gotta read that whole thread, before making such an all-sweeping judgement like that. The method of account-acquisition in this case was a LOT more complex than it usually is. The situation can't quite be brushed off so easily. The only crime some of those people committed was logging into a linkshell bank, and thus unwittingly connecting themselves to the main target. They didn't ALL share personal account information with untrusted strangers, nor were most of them even suspected of being involved with seedy 3rd-party stuff. This was done by literally delving into the private messages of a linkshell's private forum.

It's certainly not a typical case of "lol j00 gib owt ur pw," at any rate. Any implication that they "deserved" it, or "had it coming," doesn't quite stick the way it usually does ... if it EVER does, which is a blame-the-victim sort of callous philosophy that I've never bought into in the first place.

What's more, the main story here is the fact that this PARTICULAR hacking was done by Taj, and for little motivation beyond the fact that he could. The identity of the victims, and the actual events that lead to the account theft, is somewhat irrelevant.

For anyone who doesnt feel like reading it all....

Lots of drama followed by Taj admitting he did it(stole peoples accounts/gil/items and transferred them to a different server) by getting their POLID/PW from PMs they had sent on their LS forum. He then gives *most of* the gil/items back, with the characters still stranded.

For everyone else... have fun.

new people are new...

Hack the planet!!!

Correct me if i'm wrong but, Taj was the one who bazaar'd other peoples r/x items, tops on that list being the gallajhorn(sp), hacked onto the test server and played there for days, hilarious read that one was, and could dc kids, including gm's, with a smiley face?

the kids a hacker, means he hacks sh!t. So what now, as long as he's hacking for the side of good everyone loves him? Fuck if he owes BG anything. They can all hop off his johnson anytime. That hero bit Winkle posted was rather poignant.

As far as i know, he dont play on Quetz, and he didnt hack me. Sucks for the other peoples luck.

And as an aside, if anyone would like to hack my account, by all means, knock yourselves out...cause i sure as sh!t cant quit on my own...

Sadly, I'm sure people will still continue to suck this guy's dick on a regular basis.

He's still the Internet Superhero.

I was too lazy to read the whole thread, but its right that the persons who he hacked bought gil?

He hacked nine accounts. Eight of them were completely innocent; the one player out of the nine that his followers are trying to use to justify the whole mess as "vigilante justice" admitted to buying gil ONCE, back in 2004, and a negligible amount at that.

Taj basically confirmed, however, that he did it simply because he could ... the fact that the one guy had bought gil one time three years ago barely even crossed his mind.

Even if you grant him that one, and you accept the idea that a one-time purchase of one million gil by a brand new, inexperienced, level-40 character three years ago should be a perpetually-punished crime ... there are eight complete and utter innocents. It was collateral damage, and dealt out gleefully.

Under pressure from his linkshell and the Bluegartr community, he's agreed to return the accounts and "most" of the gil. A lot of the rare/ex items he dropped or NPCed, however, are gone forever ... and they're still $25 ($50, after they transfer back) down in real life, and they STILL have to wait 3 months before rejoining their friends on their native server.

Not to mention 1 mil three years ago was valued substantially less then it is now. I can't remember the cost but now a mil costs you your first born and possibly an organ.

Not to mention the fact he dropped Rykoshet's Maat's Cap, and possibly his relic great katana? I didn't follow the thread, but he DID drop rare/ex items, right?

And he didn't use their own credit cards to change server. He used his old girlfriend's (from 2 years ago) credit card.

He hacked Kalia (Divisortheory) as well last month. He didn't only hack his BG account, he hacked his paypal account and email as well, only to prove that he could, and to prove Kalia bought gil.

He never hacked his paypal, try again. He ''hacked'' his gmail account and just took a look through it and found those paypal stubs. And what you all neglected to mention is he returned most of the stuff he could, and was also kicked from his LS. He didn't drop Rykoshets Maat's cap or his Katana.
And he also never hacked DT's BG account he was a moron and used the same pass for everything.

Man. If he even remotely had a reason for doing this (the players whose accounts he jacked were bad people in some way), this could be funny as hell.

As it is though, that's just fucking stupid. "Awesome to being a dipshit" indeed.

Its still hacking. And he DID hack his paypal account. Divisortheory used the same password for his BG account, Gmail account and Paypal, which, yes, is his fault. But he still logged on all of the accounts. Which would be hacking.

No Uzor, he never went on the paypal.
