I wholeheartedly agree. There are times when you have to "do your job" and times when you can mess around. In this kind of situation, you have to "do your job" aka tank's tank and mages cast magic. It's really a simple thing.
I just find it funny how whm's /nin and melee in campaign and let everyone die. "Hey, I wanna get exp too." That's all well and good, but... if we continue to lose, then there won't even be a campaign left to fight. So I think this is one of those times where ya just gotta suck it up and "learn to deal", as it were.
If you have a capable job, (50+ for mages), there is no reason to stand in a corner, as Jeska said, and cast away. Do what is right for the betterment of the server and help each other out; there are some things in life that help you by helping others. This, my friends, is one of those things.
I totally support you and Jeska on this.
I'm in agreement as well.
It is very annoying when you are fighting something head on, and you have several healers not willing to raise or heal you for that matter.
Very common in areas outside of your nation's control where Campaign Arbritrators don't offer RR items.
Don't people understand that by assisting NPCs and other players packs more EXP to what you are earning?
Sure. Its a risk to take. The risk of getting hate, but live with it. The rewards are worth it.
Some who are guilty of that may debate that healer NPCs will do that job for them.
Sure these NPCs are very helpful now that they have been added to Campaign battles, but that shouldn't be a reason or excuse to become lazy and not help comrades; NPCs do have their limits. If exhausted, they will rest for more MP which could take a while; or they'll get taken out by taking on too much damage.
One time on BLU while in a party, I buffed, healed, nuked, inflicted physical dmg, took on damage, and so on; I got about 2100 exp and then refreshed my tag for an additional 1500 in Rolanberry Fields. How come so much? Because I was aiding comrades and contributing to the fight. Btw, this is when my BLU was a lowbie BLU as a heads up.
As for the NPCs, unfortunately I could not aid them in full with respect to healing because BLU spells are limited to the user and party members; but if I did have another healing sub then maybe it would've worked.
If everyone works together, alongside the NPCs we'll be able to withstand whatever they throw at us.
In times of war, we're supposed to be helping each other out.
With the tides having changed to the Beastmen's favor, I believe Square-Enix wants us to start working together and work our way up.
Even if it involves strategizing with your fellow nation comrades; be it to raid their forts or defend the nation.
I believe the Development Team for FFXI wants us to experience the war at full, and to work together just like all the nations who in the storyline set their pride and conflicts aside to fight on a common enemy.
I do have a suggestion about Zazarg's silly way of thinking. LOL =)
If anyone recalls, as you grow higher in rank, you have the ability as a player to share your "influence" to the nation leaders. (Generally the NPC next to the Campaign Ops folks).
By adding your input, at every conquest tally the influence that is most strongest will change the way a nation will allocate resources.
As for getting our strongholds back, thats sometime we all need to work one as a group.
For Bastok, we need to take back Gustaberg. Windurst has to take back Ronfare.
Then just work our way up once we know things are secure.
