So I left my ps2 on last night next to the choco racing guy, and then picked him back up this morning. Everything was working fine then. I logged out to hook up Tivo to the Net for an update, all normal things I do. Jen and I try to get on a bit later to do some racing and I connect my ps2 up again and press the power button.


Nothing. No Hard drive icon.

I have now reinstalled the HDD in my ps2 using the instructions on the Sony site. I tried all thier trouble shooting options. Still no icon. About that time I remember the Utility disc. I pop it in hoping to watch the miracle unfold.


Disc read Error. No shit.

I can not read the disc that is supposed to fix my HD, and my HD will not show up on the browser menu. I think I am hosed. Any suggestions? I really don't think I can live with... "It just broke".

If you wanna drive out to Fairfax I have a computer that I'm pretty sure will run FF that you can have.

lol I couldn't resist. I can't think of anything Tan. If you need to replace, just get a 360. x.x;;

It's old. It's like a p3 1Ghz but I think it will run FF. Reason I'd give it away to Tan is because we know each other IRL.

Also Tan, if you're willing to wait a couple weeks I'll probably have a p4, 1.6Ghz that I can give you instead.

360 discontinued FFXI already, GL finding it. >.<
 
360 is decent, I mean it was way better than ps2 but...

then I got pc after 360 and enjoy it much more than both

its easy to fix. get rubbing alchalo and use it on your lazer, you can also get a hex tool then adjust the lazer you can do this on with the ps2 on and then adjust it so it will read disk. ive done this with 4 ps2 and they work to this day.

Bah! Well fuck me runnin'.. When I was looking for it, everyone in town told me it was discontinued.. All the stores near me in the locator still show 0 on hand, 0 otw.. Guess I never checked the web though.. Good for me for just taking people's word for it. >.>
 
thats wierd.

Sony never fixed ps2's so they wouldn't have wierd disc read errors once they reach a certain age.
 
I know the kmart I worked at had a couple of bastard 360 versions hiding in their case somwhar.

He is trying to run the disc because when he turns the system on WITHOUT the disc, the hard drive doesn't show up - at ALL. (I believe this was all explained in his post lemme check...oh yep) ><
 
Yeah the only disk I was trying to run was the HDD utility disc, but alas its blue backed and will not run so that avenue of trying to fix the HD is not an option. I had a light of sunshine this morn, as I pulled out the HD again to get the model number and when I put itback together I thought I would check to see if it would play the CD's. When aI booted it up I got a message about the HDD being damaged and so I had the PS2 just do its auto fix.

I was then able to log in, and I told my LS that it had started working again just like it had stopped, but the first time my bazaar got checked it d/cd me and then when I rebooted the HDD was gone again.

Honestly the xbox version may be in the future here.
