thanks? no, thanks. - reputation ftw

I miss the thank you button. I thought it was cute. I didn't use it much-- but the minute it was gone I couldn't help but want to use it.

How typical of a woman, always wanting what you can't have.:nono:

I've got a few questions about this new system. It may indicate a lack of intuitive reasoning on my part, but I can't find the answers to them on my own for the life of me.

1) Is there any way to check which posts one has received reputation for, without going through them one by one?

2) Is there any way to check which posts for another user have received reputation?

3) Is there any way, similar to the "find all thanked posts" script on the other system, to track down some of any users' "best"?

4) How much reputation (how many points) do you add each time you give someone karma? How many are deducted for negative?

5) Would it be at all possible to do more to indicate a user's reputation than a simple red or green icon? Why not introduce a more complicated color system?

6) Would it be possible to do more visually (already asked, I know) to indicate someone's current "level"? That is to say, perhaps more than one "pip" for the color-coded icon, rather than being forced to over the single icon with your cursor?

considering he already said he dont know about coding, I would assume same whould go with the color coding of the rep button, and any other modifcation you like to see

1) Yes, look at your User CP, on the front page of that you will see the most recent feedback received.

2) No.

3) No.

4) It depends. Users start with a reputation power of 1, for every 100 positive reputation points received their reputation power goes up by one, for every 365 days they have been registered their reputation power goes up by 1, for every 1000 posts they have made their reputation power goes up by 1.

5) The green dot should become a bar once more reputation is accumulated, so there will be a second dot to the right of the first one and so on. I am not entirely sure at how many reputation points that happens though.

6) see answer to 6

Other relevant facts are that users need to have at least 50 posts before they can leave reputation for others. Users with negative reputation are not able to leave reputation for others, and the negative reputation factor is 0.5 by default, meaning that any negative feedback is counted at half the value of what positive feedback in that case would have been.

A little off topic, but I chuckled.

In response to 5,
I was thinking that maybe he meant more of a fade from red to green depending on the user's reputation. So someone with neutral (0) reputation would be yellow.

Edit: And why can't we negatively reputate (not a real word I think, but I can't think of a real one) ourselves?

Okay, that answers my thread's question. How do people recieve reputation from other users?
Little button on the bottom left of their post. Probably supposed to be a scale, but it looks like a snowflake to me.
