This is the sort of thing that really sets me off about some religious people who like to argue that atheists have no true sense of morality. If the only thing keeping you from becoming a base animal who rapes and murders with abandon is some invisible choke chain held by Jesus in the afterlife, how can you really call yourself a moral person? That's the only thing keeping you in check? Operating at the level of a five-year-old afraid of getting spanked when Daddy gets home?

And for Romper, yes. I'd throw out all their other plans if they're anti-choice. Their views on that issue influences a lot of other stuff. There are plenty of Republicans who squirm at the idea of voting for Giuliani because he's pro-choice.

If it seems trivial, there are plenty of recent Romney-inspired polls asking people if they'd vote for a Mormon. Many said they wouldn't under any circumstances; however, that number pales in comparison to the people who said they'd never vote for an atheist. Even if the atheist had super-awesome plans that would create a golden age for America, they wouldn't vote for him. I'm not pointing that out as a woe-is-me argument, but to illustrate that some "trivial" matters carry a lot of weight in who we elect.

I would vote for an Athiest. My priary point in that post was to illustrate that the US Constitution was forged with the beleif that our RIGHTS eminate from a higher power, and therefore cannot be taken away by the Govt. The evolution vs. creationism aguement is just my own personabeleifs and I apologize for even bringing them up in this forum. You are entitled to you opinion, as am I.

Here's a fun one. The Electoral Compass measures your answers on issues and compares you to the candidates. Yeah, it's just a beefier version of "Which Harry Potter Character Are You?", but it's still fun.

It ranked my candidate agreement at Richardson (74%), Edwards (70%), Obama (69%), Clinton (63%), and Ron Paul (63%). The rest of the GOP slate came in under 45% agreement.

Sorry not the best at quoting:

This is not true - as soon as America leaves places people really want them back. I will use Korea as an example. Prior to lowering troop levels in Korea, the Korean (20, 30 something’s) protested non-stop about "GET US OUT OF KOREA" Once they found out we were actually lowering troop levels they quickly changed to "PLEASE AMERICA STAY"

Where the US goes the US dollar goes also - look at Afghanistan. For the most part they love Americans there because US dollars are now flooding the economy [most - non-Taliban] Afghans like Americans because their whole quality of life is increasing drastically.

Where the US goes, quality of life drastically increases. Look at Korea - went from an agrarian economy, pretty poor and low life expectancy to a world leader on technological items. They have around the 13th highest GDP of all nations, I believe, which isn’t bad for a country that was decimated by the Japanese then faced years and years of war with the communists.

US involvement in the world is like Porn – Everyone openly shuns it and talks about how bad it is, but in secret they love it and can’t get enough of it.

Edit: I agree with less US involvement actually

oye, I've really gotta get better at the whole, sealing my comments off to misuse, thing.

I'm tired of America being involved in every single world affair that hits the stage.
America needs to stop being the first responder.
Europe needs to step up to the plate on more occasions.
America has a long forgotten domestic responsibility to its own people.

I am not saying America is not supposed to do things abroad, I am only saying that the American people have taken a back seat to our police force military.

I believe the term is... "slightly to the right of Gengis Khan."

So you gonna tell us where you got that so we can play the game too ^^?

This was excluded from the re-air.

hehe, all I'm hoping is that Clinton doesn't become president.. she bothers me.. she is really flip floppy in her opinions on things (like the War) and other crap that pisses me off. I'm not against a woman as president :P I'd love it, but I'd rather have a good woman president than this.. bleh..

I scored closest to Ron Paul but my circle was in that big middle area where there's no one :(

Get this, Obama and Ron Paul were in my circle lol. Edwards was on the outside edge.

Heh, Ron Paul was only one within the circle for me. Giuliani's corner was a bit into the circle though, rest were outside it.

Sorry if this has been posted but i just saw this... win. Ron paul for weed!

so when you guys declare war on saudi ? ;p

Via MNSBC's First Read, Huckabee sounds off on changing the Constitution.

"[Some of my opponents] do not want to change the Constitution, but I believe it's a lot easier to change the constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God, and that's what we need to do is to amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards rather than try to change God's standards," Huckabee said, referring to the need for a constitutional human life amendment and an amendment defining marriage as between a man and a woman.

Huckabee often refers to the need to amend the constitution on these grounds, but he has never so specifically called for the Constitution to be brought within "God's standards," which are themselves debated amongst religious scholars. As a closing statement he asked the room of nearly 500 supporters to "pray and then work hard, and in that order," to help him secure a victory in Tuesday's GOP primary.

Yep. From God's lips to Huckabee's ears. I really don't want this guy near the White House. I don't mind secular arguments for those things -- although I disagree with them -- but have little patience for "It's what God wants!"
