The General Discussion Thread

Lucky, I downed ifrit 30+ times before i saw a single harpoon drop >.<. Luckily i was the only drg in the party when it finally did. Now just need to continue farming tomes for my relic, man I'm really starting to hate CM >=(

I was the only DRG :) and glad it was a FC run so I was first to get it regardless. I need to grind out a lot of tomes too. I dun wanna really grind out CM, but I guess it's the best one.

I've grown to hate CM so much I'm ready to just grind AK for them, even tho it'll take twice as many runs. CM is just soooooo mind numbing >.< Maybe I'll try praetorium, it gives same amount as CM and actually has some fun fights. just that you actually need a skilled group for there since its alot harder then CM.

No matter how you scratch at it, if you are speed running the dungeons it will take you longer to get your stones grinding CM as opposed to AK. The Praetorium, on the other hand, is almost, almost on par, time wise, with AK and nets 100 stones [20 more than AK]. So if you could get into a decent static that may be the best bet after you've collected your weekly mythology allotment. That said, if you have to use DF to get a group into The Praetorium -- kiss its efficiency goodbye, for now.

I found a group that I like doing AK runs on. I'm not really up or down on efficiency, I guess it'd be nice if I got my darklight crap faster. But it's all fun.

I'll probably care more when I get roadblocked by Titan.

Around 60 to finally get Ifrit Claws.

AK is better because it gives Tomestones of Mythology too.

Btw, I fucking HATE arbitrary bullshit weekly caps on gaining some kinda gear or points or whatever in a game. I hate that there's a cap on mythology at 300 cause all that does is prove you're interested in forcing people to grind and play for a longer period of time just for your bottom dollar instead of letting people play how they want. If they wanna not sleep for days and play non-stop grinding a dungeon for gear, let em. If they wanna be slow about it, let em. Don't force things on em -_-

I hated it in WoW, I hate it in FFXIV. I hate it in every MMO. Having a cap on total you can have, fine. I don't mind that (that's understandable tbh from a data/programming mindset), but having a cap on how much you can gain in a certain time period? Arg...

Also, I hate daily quests, I hope they don't add them in FFXIV in the way they are in WoW. I don't need a game to be a job/chore. Rawr....

Got my relic +1 finally, and started the company into coil the last 2 nights. Fun getting into the raid environment again with some good players.

grrr, Titan HM is so rough, the latency is killing me, with 2500r it seem impossible to miss all the aoes, if the circle aoe pops with me right in the center it seem physically impossible to get out in time, i move the second it pops and im 10 feet outside of it on my screen when it goes off, yet it still hits me, SE needs to fix the latency on their duty servers or add 1/2 a second to those aoes or something : /

Too busy having fun with crafting in this game to worry about rushing to endgame on any DoW or DoM classes atm lol. I've made about 2mil so far with armorer at 50. Miner is at 32 currently, working on getting it to 50 and then I'll either level weaver or goldsmith.

You and I are in the same boat. Im level 29 Miner and 36 Goldsmith. I parked my 42 Monk as I am in no rush for end game. Crafting classes are just too fun.

My lancer has been at 23 for weeks now haha

I'll never get the fun of crafting in most games :P get item, click one button and wait for RNG to craft item. Oye.

You generally have more control over crafting than you do over anything else in the game.

You guys are tempting me to try it out ...

In other news: weren't we passed these 1017 errors?

Crafting gives the satisfying feeling of completion. Not to say that achieving a 50 battle class doesn't, but I enjoy setting goals for myself in mining and gold smithing that allow me to sit down, craft for a bit, and come back at a later time. The reason my level 42 Monk is parked is because of his low level gear and accessories that are materia-less. Add to that that I'm hearing nothing but que issues for duty finder and end game with people having low level gear. I can wait until 2.1 for gear scores to hopefully take care of that.

Fun tip: save all levequests for mining and crafting. I found a great level 30 levequest in Ul'dah where you can hand in 3 garnet rings and have 2 additional chances to hand in 2 more sets of 3, making it a whopper of a levequest. I was sitting at 99 allowances and went from level 30 gold smith to 36 in a matter of 2 hours.

But what I really recommend is using the levequests on mining (if you're into that) to bridge the gaps between grinding for ores and stones.

I dunno, I just see crafting as "gather resources in some way (buy or go kill stuff yourself or mine or whatever) then sit there and click a button for as much of said thing as you want" :P battle, so far, has seemed to at least required more of a focus and thought to me. Maybe I just gotta get higher in crafting to show some kinda depth to it. I'll do those later in my OCD to do all the things, but for now getting levels up on battle stuff.

As someone who's went the martial route gil probably wouldn't have been a concern for me if I had kept all the gil I had earned. But I probably donated 80-100k to my FC for future housing, what I've had left has been spent on repairs, teleporting, and starting my relic weapon on my Summoner, which thankfully, wasn't nearly as expensive as how some of the other jobs have it.

I've pretty much been hovering around 25k gil though, +/- 2-3k.

After some rough failures, I finally defeated the Chimera and Hydra, then smeared Ifrit (yet again). Need to get some more DL gear before I start doing Garuda runs though. I did manage to get my Ifrit book yesterday morning, and after 5 mornings of trying and not even seeing it drop, I was so happy.

There are plenty of items to farm going the adventuring route for farming. Antelope horns and fleece have been my money makers so far, made about 300k last week off those 2.

So these were just announced at TGS lol.
