Well i pulled off one of the mobs and a buddy tags along,no big deal 2 mobs for a rdm isn't hard. I sleep him and somehow...somewhere...4 [/b]more orcs[/b] come
Doing a windy area for a change, I usually don't because I don't know where I'm going half of the time(read:huge areas to run through). The situation seemed bleak, I guess we were the reinforcements, we ran through a small camp and helped a mnk/whm and a few other jobs clear a few mobs in a matter of moments.
Now I was still curious why things were going downhill, the normal mobs were pushovers and everyone was mobilizing well. Until I took a gander further down...
elementals? No big deal just have to kill the boss behind them right? Assuming there's one each. So I run into one random mob and start whacking doing the normal I'm-such-an-epeen-rdm....thing but when I look at the name...
*Stares at the mob name...*
Me irl>> Vee Pika?
Wait, I forgot a very important rule of ffxi
If you can't pronounce the name of the mob in front of you then chances are...
It's a nm you shouldn't touch...namely a summoner nm.
Now normal summoners only have one spirit that is easy to dispatch while the summoner is slept, but this guy had
five count-em
FIVE elementals.
Now there is a difference between a smn mob and a smn pc
Smn mobs use elementals while smn pcs only use spirits...
Now, spirits use only 2 types of magic which are Enfeebling and Elemental excluding Light Spirit which uses healing and specific enhancing(duh).
But elementals use every magic that is a part of their nature, ie a wind elemental will use blink and enaero but a air spirit will not.
It also gets kinda complicated since light elemental can use blink and stoneskin as well...
But 5 elementals throwing spells everywhere ranging from dispelga to -aga spells...
It wasn't pretty, I was downed in an instant when i decided to tank it, the spirits sharing hate of course all casted on me at the same time. Now just promply after I was dispatched Mr. Pika decides to use his Astral Flow crush ability.
For those that don't know, Astral Flow lowers the wait time for spirits to act by -5 putting them into a more aggressive mode and being able to cast more offensive spells rather than debuffs. Wiki says -5 but I've heard by half, not really sure since I'd haven't or will most likely will never blow Astral Flow on spirits.
