So, I must be missing something or going mad. I've seen over 20 Paladins with Valor Surcoats and/or Excal wearing Ritter Shields.

Is there some hidden effect i'm missing, anyone?

Are a lot of them JP? I've been seeing this for a long time also and wondered what was up. I remember there were 3-4 JPs in Lucifar's shell (forget the name of it now) that would rock the PLD/NIN and sport Ritter Shields. Whatever floats their boat I guess.
 
could be situational, for light resist perhaps, on stuff like proto ultima.

otherwise, I see no reason to wear one
 
I cant remember anyone sucking as bad as Lucifars shell at anything lol. Well, WGC/WTF/Darkdesire/epic, but Lucifars shell had a shitlong time to practice, WeSuckBad where new atleast.

Not saying that's a good excuse, but its an excuse none-the-less. And it doesn't look as ugly.
 
I blame that bearded campaign NPC dude, with the Excal / Ritter and full Valor set. Kilhwich or something. Everyone's just trying to look like him.

That was my guess. I'm tempted to put verification tags on it, just so someone will go out and test it.
 
2% is purrrrrrrty sirius. More than enough reason to use it over Koenig, Ho-yeah.
