The worse RPGs?

I actually think games need more romantic themes. Much like Mass Effect, I like how everyone gets naked and you can choose your own sex adventure. Thats good game right there.

Well I'm a grammar nazi so fuck you.

FFVII had the coolest storyline plus it had no love story. I guess I should say minimal love story or someone will bitch at me, but it was practically absent. It also had the second best battle system and the best side quests of any other RPG I've played.

Oh and I don't hang off Sephiroth's balls, Cloud is much cooler. And before anyone brings it up the first FF I played was IX, not VII.

EDIT: Oh yeah, has anyone played Radiata Story or stories or something like that? I'd say FFVIII was worse but that game came in a close second. You might like it though if you're a twelve year old girl.

What? FFVII had no story line? Zach and Aeris? Cloud and Tifa? What?

Sephrioth and the love for his mom is basically why he did *everything* in the game and the driving force behind almost everyone meeting in the party.

What, no mention of Cardia?

edit: Sorry, I meant Kartia. this thing ->

which follows the WONDERFUL CONCEPT of everyone can die except the main character, who game overs your entire group if he takes more than a couple hits.

On the plus side, if you chuck all the interesting card mechanics and puppet pals of which there are a whole 7ish varieties for the entire game and just hack through it - your actual characters level up to the point of becoming nigh invincible. But then whats the point of the battle system?

/wrists.

Zach and Aeris weren't the main character so it doesn't count. The game didn't revolve around any of the love aspects like it did in VIII.
So now the only thing that counts is the love story of the main character? That's pretty desperate to denounce the love aspect of the game; but even without them, Cloud was still up to his eyeballs in love story.

Tifa > Cloud < Aeris

Not much more to say.

There's a number of shitty RPG's that have flopped. It's easier for me to sit here and miss old games:

Breath of Fire
Lunar
Lufia

I'm pretty sure all 3 are considered great, never played though

Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete was a great game.

I'm desperate? You're the one that tries his hardest to find anything in a post to argue with. Do you even read what people post anymore or do you just read the parts you can throw an angry reply at?

I said in VII it mentions the love aspects only a couple times, putting them on the backburner. In alot of other games (VIII, X) they fucking revolve around the fact that person A wants person B's balls. So if it's not the main character's love story than the game obviously isn't going to revolve around it, it'll be more of a small sidestory. So no, it wouldn't count.

And to everyone bringing up "Sephiroth's love for his mother" or "Barretts love of the planet" - get a clue. We're talking about romantic love here, not love in general. If I hated every story with any tiny aspects of love whatsoever I'd hate every single story ever written. I also don't ever skip through dialogue in a game. There's a good chance that I won't remember much about a game or what was said(if I haven't played it more than once that is, and VII I've played plenty of times, I remember most everything if not everything), but I never skip over it.

Yes, I'm the one who's desperate when you're either outright ignoring instances of the love story in FF7 or saying "that doesn't count, neither does that."

That's not angry, that's pity. Maybe that's your problem then, you can't understand someone's tone based on text alone; that would explain why you don't remember all of the love aspects of the story. Apparently you can't grasp subtlety, even when it's not very subtle.

There are very, very, very few RPG's where the story is centered around the main character's love story. In almost all of them, the love story is a distant second to the real plot; hell, in most of them they never even say they love each other; and even fewer ever do anything physical.

I also don't ever skip through dialogue in a game. There's a good chance that I won't remember much about a game or what was said(if I haven't played it more than once that is, and VII I've played plenty of times, I remember most everything if not everything), but I never skip over it.
This is obviously wrong, since if you actually did read all of the dialogue or remember it well, you'd remember what everyone else remembers about the game; that there was plenty of lovey dialogue. Or maybe you were just a fan of the honey bee inn...

Everyone knows that in FFX, Tidus and Yuna's love for eachother was far more prominent than their quest to defeat Sin. Duh.
